Lovely lads. Stoped to talk and job was perfect. In safe hands here. And was under budget too.
A friend recommended Giant in Leamington for my bike repair. I popped down without an appointment but they looked at it anyway as it was only something minor. Fixed it there and then within a few minutes! Really friendly and helpful service.
I ordered a custom bike build from Giant Store Leamington in November 2020. Upon ordering, I was told that the 2X components I'd chosen were unavailable and offered me a lower spec 1X alternative. I said I was happy to wait until the estimated January arrival for my chosen groupset.
By mid February, with virtually zero communication, it became apparent that they couldn't get the parts – with the ETA now shifting as far as May – so I sourced the groupset myself and agreed to take the frameset with BB and headset installed by them, with collection arranged for the coming weekend.
On the morning of collection, I phoned to check that the bike was ready and was only then told that they didn't yet have the BB. I agreed to collect the rest and the BB could be posted to me when it arrived. On arrival, I discovered the frameset had not been fitted with the headset as agreed. I decided to take the frameset anyway, but when I got it home, I found the box was missing its entire build kit - no headset bearings, rubber covers, cable guides etc.
I travelled back to the shop again (45 minutes drive away) and collected the build kit and had them fit the headset while I was there. They agreed to this and provided a set of bike-specific lights as a token apology. I was told by the business owner that the bike "must have arrived from Giant missing the kit” because he'd only opened the box that morning - despite me having seen the same frame out of its box three months earlier.
After further prompting, the BB arrived a week later, but they had sent a screw-fit BBR60 and not the press-fit PF86 that the bike required. Luckily, I was able to part-exchange the incorrect item for a high spec PF86 BB at my local bike shop, as I was no longer willing to deal with Giant Store Leamington.
As a final chapter in the story, when I came to install the gifted light set, I had been given the bike-specific integrated rear mount, but the light unit (as confirmed by Giant UK) is the helmet version of the light and is incompatible with the rear mount. Feels like a very hollow apology!
I certainly won’t be using this business again.
