If 12:30 is not the last order time you need to make it clear just like the last order time for lunch.
Sunday pm visit to cafe
Sunday pm. Popped in for coffee told to sit and they would come to us. Waited 10mins went to counter told it was table service, I requested a menu. Waitress came eventually with menus left with not a word. Waited another 10 mins and grabbed same waitress clearing tables to give our order. It arrived in fairly quick time. Appalling service will not stop here again
Do not go if you have a dog
Do not go if you have a dog. We asked if we could eat outside with our dog the very unfriendly waitress said no, we’re not serving outside. no reason why we could not sit outside. Or why they were not serving outside that day.
The farm shop staff said we could purchase a coffee from the deli and take it outside ourselves probably in paper cups which wasn’t what we were after we would preferred lunch and a drink.

Really lovely farm shop offering a wide variety of great quality goods.
If I had to be critical, it would be to say that you need to keep you fantastic cakes and puddings away from your savoury goods, as they take on the taste.
Other than that, this is a first class farm shop that is a real treat to visit ☺️
Dirty Cafe run by rude staff.
Shop is great well stocked, not a problem. Cafe- joke! Came in, stood waiting to be seated, nobody even noticed we were there. I walked round a corner and there were staff chatting amongst themselves, one of the cooks I think he was, looked right at me and ignored me! I went to the counter, nothing! I walked to the kitchen area, young girl washing up, progress. I asked her politely, ‘Shall we just take a seat?”, she looked round, face like a smacked you know what and replied ‘Yeah’, and carried on. We sat down in the conservatory style area, looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time considering the amount of cobwebs between the plants. The chairs were absolutely dreadful, the legs so bad that you wobbled on them, I gave been in better motorway Cafe’s. Few minutes later, the same girl returned and literally threw the menus at us, said nothing and left. Then another girl came over to take our order, she was slightly more polite but messed up our order, we didn’t bother saying anything as we were starving and thirsty. I won’t bother to go on too much, but as I have looked at the other reviews, it’s a little bit obvious that there is a problem with the Cafe! You have this smashing farm shop and then it’s completely let down by the useless rude staff in the Cafe, who couldn’t care less about you! Be careful there, it could really mess things up for you Gibsons! Thanks for the rubbish experience, won’t be back!
Light lunch
Wanted a light lunch, food was very expensive so decided to have a toasted teacake. The waiting staff were unfriendly and service was incredibly slow. The teacakes were dried up, flat and cold, had to pay an extra £3 for two small pots of jam! The total cost for a beer, Diet Coke and two toasted cake was £15! Wouldn’t mind if the toasted teacakes were nice t like cold flat pancakes! Very disappointing.
Restaurant very disappointing.
The farm shop itself is excellent - it’s the restaurant that I am reviewing here.
We arrived at 1230 on 12-11-25, there were two big groups of customers already there, and the sign said 30min wait for food. We actually had to wait just over an hour. Nobody came to update us at all and, when I asked, our waitress was offhand to the point of rudeness.
I ordered the slow-roasted lamb dish, which sounded lovely. Unfortunately, someone had put the plate under a grill, so the food was dried out! When it was put in front of me the tops of the vegetables were black and the meat was like leather! I said this to the waitress and she said, “So what do you want to do?” I replied that, having waited so long, I needed to eat, so to please not take it away. She walked away shaking her head!
There was never an apology given, in fact the person at the till tried to tell me that the dish was meant to be like that!
Really disappointing.

Not the best experience but it’s a beautifully presented farm shop nevertheless. We ordered two sparkling waters and 2 cappuccinos from the cafe. Lovely coffee no complaints. But the waitress who served us seemed very off, just with me but she was polite and friendly to my partner who happens to be white. It’s a shame!!
Happy Gluten free
So very happy to have found such a friendly and happy place to buy "home made" gluten free food. Taste is fabulous you can buy a freezer full if you order in advance, always very helpful and update you regularly regarding your order. Could not be more happy.
Restaurant was friendly and the food I had was very nice and coffe good to.
Revolting cappuccino
Although a bit out of my way, I popped in to get a take away coffee as I was just driving to Surrey. The cappuccino was like a latte, far too hot and didn’t smell or taste of coffee, it had a strange taste. I took it back in and the woman on the till took it and got another one. It had a tiny bit of froth on the top, certainly still not a cappuccino or tasting of coffee. Either the milk was off or they had put a chemical through the machine to clean it. I couldn’t drink it. There was no apology, in fact nothing was said to me at all by the person serving! Yuk!!

My daughter and granddaughter treated my wife to lunch here on Thursday. We have been on many occasions and it was fine. Sadly no longer the case! Service was dreadful, there was an atmosphere of dissatisfaction, people were walking in and then walking out even though there was space. The chiili was ok but how on earth can you make 'home cooked' ham egg and chips look and taste so unappetising and boring?
Their 'contact us' page on the website didn't work and I emailed the address given to me over the phone but to date no acknowledgement and no response.
Why have you allowed your cafe to spiral downward?
Not only are you loosing cafe business but you are loosing shop trade as well, we certainly won't be back!
Resting on their laurels?
Called in for breakfast twice this week.
On Monday morning I took a friend who’s working away from home and we both ordered the farmhouse option. When it arrived it was clear the food had been hanging around for a long time before being plated up, Some items were cold, the coffee was good.
Today I was alone. I ordered a bacon sandwich and a coffee. 20 minutes after ordering nothing had arrived at my table. I reminded the waitress I was still waiting and after another 5-10 minutes the sandwich and coffee eventually arrived. The coffee was good but the bacon had clearly been pre-cooked. The bread had the texture of aneomic toast.
This used to be a gem of a place but now feels like nobody cares. Very sad.

Very poor service and mediocre food in the restaurant. My friend clearly specified no burger sauce or tomato on her burger, and got both. The food was taken away and returned 15 minutes later with the fries clearly reheated and burned. Attitude of one of the female waiting staff was shocking.
The shop was nice though - great range of English wines.
Ordered 3 cakes to takeaway
Ordered 3 cakes to takeaway. 2x2 white chocolate brownies and a gypsy tart. All stale and rock hard. £8.50 and all 3 in the bin.
Farmshop Visit
Marvelous selection of drinks vegetables and cakes and you could spend forever looking around there. However it is very expensive and I bought one Christmas present. The lady on the cake counter was very friendly and helpful. However the bloke on the till was very surly, not sure I will be back. Will go to my usual farm shop where they are cheaper and more importantly friendly!

We went for lunch yesterday and whilst the food was fine, the service was appalling. Our table number was 25. The waitress was offhand throughout, dumped our meals in the middle of the table without asking who had ordered what, started to clear the table before we had all finished and snorted derisively when I couldn’t find the swipe point at the back of the card reader.
There have been a lot of negative comments about this individual across review sites yet nothing changes.
Why?

Waited over 30 mins for a coffee..45 minutes for a breakfast that failed to turn up at all .. chased the waitresses twice was simply told " it should be ready soon"..then finally came and said what did you order it's been missed...I did sort out the shop manager a tall chap with a beard who could not have been less interested..I've always liked the produce and you pay a hefty premium for everything in there..but the service is always mediocre and today was simply inexcusable..I shall not return..I'm baffled why such places not only survive but thrive????
Customers service poor
Customers service poor
I bought a peace of rump steak,
Tough taste less worse I’ve had when I
Phoned about it the butcher was full of I’m sorry not had any other complaints (well that’s what they always say) did not say bring back the half you put in freezer, and replace it NO,
Time to replace the manager
Gibsons cafe has been my go-to for an English Breakfast for years now, but I won’t be returning after today’s experience unfortunately.
I have no idea why the woman who manages this cafe is in hospitality because quite frankly, you’d receive more customer service from a door knob. She’s as aggressive as she is rude. And I feel extremely sorry for the waitresses working there because you can tell she’s as rude and intimidating to them as she is the customers. You only have to look at the other reviews on here to see I’m not the only one to experience her attitude.
While I usually come for the breakfast, today it went completely wrong. Maybe because I turned up near the end of breakfast service and got served the old dregs that had been sitting under a heater for hours. But the sausage was so tough and over cooked I could barely cut into it, let alone chew it. Whereas the bacon was too undercooked. The flat white that turned up was a cup of warm milk, and having only had one sip I sent it back because it was nothing like a flat white.
I’m not someone that complains often, I hate to complain but I was very disappointed with the breakfast and the coffee. The waitress took the flat whites from the table and returned with new coffees, stating that they’d be removed from the bill. The new coffees were also a cup of milk but we just drank them because it was too awkward to complain again.
When we went to pay the coffee hadn’t been removed from the bill. And on questioning this the rude manager said that the coffees we didn’t drink had been taken off the bill (I should hope so), but we had to pay for the replacement. We’d assumed that as a courtesy for our awful experience we wouldn’t be paying for the coffees - as we’d been told. In saying this we were met with complete aggression from the manager who was adamant we had to pay for the replacement coffees.
Every-time I have been the Gibsons cafe this woman, and this woman only, has made the experience awkward and uncomfortable. She makes you feel like an inconvenience, she’s rude and blunt and quite frankly she’d be better off working as a prison warden with her attitude. When you go to pay at the counter it takes a few minutes to be acknowledged(despite you standing less than a meter away from her), while you wait to pay, leaving you wondering if you’ve even come to the right place to pay. It’s bizarre.
The farm shop has always been great, the florist is great, the produce is great. The cafe WAS great because of the food, but not anymore. I won’t be back again.
