Thoroughly enjoyed this tour yesterday…
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour yesterday with the enigmatic Paul. The tour itself is fascinating and informative but is really brought to life by Paul, his sense of humour and incredible knowledge. Everyone on the tour really enjoyed it and our wee foursome absolutely loved it. Completely recommend it!
Paul was an amazing tour guide
Paul was an amazing tour guide. So knowledgeable and kind. Waited a few minutes on a lady who was late. Museum is so interesting. All the people walking about central station probably had no idea of the stuff underneath. Fascinating
Best tour in Glasgow, nay, Scotland!
Was delighted to get a place on this with the legend that is Paul back on duty, at home in the cathedral to trains. Amazing experience, informative, moving, and a testiment to the love for the railways, and the craftmanship put into the building by generations of Glasgow folk. Recommending it to all my friends. Already planning my third visit.
It was fantastic
It was fantastic. The guide was new and so enthusiastic. If you love Glasgow you will love this. I had a great time.
The tour guide was magnificent you could see she loved the job and really made us feel welcome. This is a supper tour.
Excellent
Excellent, very informative and a hidden gem in the city. Would recommend to Glaswegian and tourist alike. Sinead our guide had a wealth of information and anecdotes. The pace was just right and she was happy to answer questions
A very insightful & thought provoking…
A very insightful & thought provoking tour.
Conducted by Paul… his enthusiasm for the project is truly infectious.
A genuine mixture of history & story telling that captures your attention.
The stories relating to WW1 are illuminating & harrowing in equal measures.
Paul’s future plans for the project are very exciting , however please don’t delay until the plans are operational ….visit NOW.
We are amazed that The Scottish Government & Glasgow City Council do not support Glasgow Central Station Tours……in todays high priced & underdelivered expectations … Paul has created a real gem.
Taken my money but delivered nothing.
Not even one star! Bought and paid for two gift vouchers over a month ago. Confirmation on website but still no vouchers! Have left voice messages emailed several times and left messages on the website -all to no avail! Have even asked for a refund. Am now going to have to go through my bank to get my refund. Beyond disappointed!!
A Very Enjoyable Tour
Paul was our guide for this underground tour of Glasgow Central Station. He was very friendly, funny and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour.
Our Glasgow Central Tour was amazing!
My mum and I went on the Glasgow Central Tour the other week and we had Flavia as our tour guide and she was absolutely amazing and so attentive. She was very knowledgeable and her passion shined through in her delivery of the tour. The tour itself was so interesting as I never knew all of that was underneath Glasgow Central! It was cool to listen to the history.
Excellent tour
Excellent tour. Our guide, Flavia, was very knowledgeable and fun. The used her previous experience in Rome and Pompey to inform us of the European influences in the design and build of the station. Flavia also explained the influences that Glasgow had on the wider world whilst also acknowledging the toll on the working men and women behind the scenes. Her description of the returning dead and wounded of WW1 and how the women had to search for and then remove thier loved ones bodies was especially vivid and harrowing. Excellent tour and fantastic guide (Flavia).
Thank you to our tour guide Flavia.
Our tour guide Flavia made a big impression on us. She brings knowledge and passion to the subject of Glasgow Central and Caledonian Railway history. Flavia was warm and funny and we were impressed by the amount of research she had done to give us this rich experience. We loved her Italian accent the appreciation she has of Glasgow social history, which has inspired us to learn more. Thank you Flavia!
Absolute rubbish
Was the most boring 2 hours. We couldn't understand most of what she said due to the strong Italian accent. She was extremely cheeky to a lady who likened ir to a history lesson. We went from car park to car park getting lectured about the shortage of staff and how she had to work in the office too. Got told sa few times about a tour guide who fell through a ceiling and was now walking with a zimmer frame. He s obviously the talented guy who is passionate about Central Station. A waste of time
Never been so bored
Never been so bored
Worst 2 hours spent, wandering around a corridor and car park looking at murals and trying to understand what the guide was actually saying as her accent was too strong. Complete waste of money and wouldn't recommend the tour to anyone. To top it all off the bright orange hard hat makes you look like a complete idiot wandering around the train station.
Just finished the Tour
Just finished the Tour. Absolutely riveting and interesting. Our tour guide Jackie was fantastic with a fabulous recall and delivered with a very professional and humorous manner. She made the Tour!
Literally!
Just completed this tour
Just completed this tour with our guide, Paul Lyon.
A fantastic time was had by myself and three companions. A phenomenal amount of knowledge from Paul who worked for many years in our railways, which shines through. A very worthwhile tour which was very interesting and thought provoking at times (WW1 bodies coming back was heartbreaking).
Will do this tour again when it gets updated with the Victorian station and the steam engine. Let me know Paul and I’ll be back.
Paul Lyons, tour guide at Central Station, Glasgow
Paul Lyons, an older person, a tour guide, a knowledgeable man in his field and committed to the work he was doing as a tour guide was the problem.
He approached a group of us waiting for the tour to start. He said hello to my white husband, totally ignored me with my brown skin (and also my white hair) and stood about two feet in front of me, with his back to me! Anybody with any manners would have apologised! He also said, my lady and sir as people passed him but didn't say anything when I passed him. I didn't need him to but feel I need to add this as it is relevant to what I am saying.
I thought we were past this kind of overt racism and I am especially disappointed because it was a Glasgow Central Station tour. I have lived and been shown respect in this very diverse area for many years and then an older man is totally disrespectful.
I am also disappointed in Central Tours who have not even acknowledged the emails I have sent them. Paul Lyons, on that same tour called an older lady 'a smart ....' for answering correctly, a question he asked. I spoke to the lady as I could see she was offended. She was, at that and his continued swearing. He was also derogatory about some Japanese tourists he had taken around, to do with their sense of humour!
I am going to take it as high as I need to until I get a response. This kind of treatment should not be tolerated. This is for all people not white, being insulted by the likes of Paul Lyons. Insulting to me, to the lady and to Japanese tourists.
Brilliant Tour 🚉
Jackie brought this tour alive with her extensive knowledge and brilliant delivery!
I would highly recommend this tour! It was a great history lesson and very entertaining 😀.
An entertaining tour
An entertaining tour - gid patter from Jackie. Brought Glasgow history to life.
Wow! Just Wow !!
Wow!! Just Wow !! Jackie took our tour today and I have to say. The knowledge and passion she has for what she does is outstanding. I cannot recommend this tour enough. If I could give it 100 stars…..I would !!
