I loved the hotel which was great! The tours were good and I particularly enjoyed the free day. The only drawback was the way the taxis were allocated on the return journey. The coach terminated in... See more

I enjoyed the holiday. Really nice, friendly companions on the trip.
Well organised tour.
Interesting places to visit.
Tour guide and driver friendly and helpful
The driver was exceptionally good and very flexible. The coach was extremely comfortable. The places visited were interesting (favourite Antwerp). I would have liked to see a bit of Amsterdam. Valkenburg where we stayed was quite a quirky little place. I think that Glentons Good Companions Solo Holidays are an excellent idea as it is daunting to go on holiday yourself after losing your life partner.
The hotel was very good, food good I would have preferred to go back to The Hague instead of the new added place. All in all I like this tour very much and will go back again.

The person we booked with phoned hotel to check if accessible rooms available.
We were concerned that the bus Would not go due to numbers but the person spoke to was very reassuring.
Best of all was the driver. Darren. Could not do enough for everyone.

The coach was comfortable .Driver friendly and helpful. Had plenty of comfort stops. Hotel was gd .Staff helpful. But steps going down to dining room quite difficult when you have mobility problems. Also steps up to hotel entrance bit off putting after a long drive. But hotel had allocated walk in shower with grab rails. Albeit on 2 floor. But lift available just enough room for a walker to be got into needed to be folded to let two more passengers in But good value for money.

Good hotel in Eastbourne although it was a very long journey. The pick up in Edinburgh in the early morning was very difficult to get to as we live on the opposite side of the city. It was easier to get home at night as the public transport was running

I love Nidd Hall have been several times. However, several of clients including myself are senior citizens and some with disabilities were situated in the courthouse with many stairs to access rooms. Certainly would go again with Glenton Select as always well looked after. Driver Andy is 5*.

It was a lovely holiday from start to end.
Home pick up was great, then onto the coach being welcomed by our great driver, nice journey with stops for coffee and lunch.
Hotel was super, clean, nice rooms and a good choice of food and entertainment.
Good drive back home.

I sent an honest review of my trip with Glenton & am angry with the reply. There was no apology or explanation of the points I raised & was treated as if I was the protagonist. I'm not a naughty school child to be chastised by my elders. I was not expecting any form of recompense but because of the attitude of this company, I would advise anyone to steer clear of this rude, uncaring travel hub

It started at the pick-up point in Glasgow. We were late leaving as passengers from a Mystery Tour which had been cancelled due to lack of support, were put on our coach. This was not a luxury coach. Seats too close together and no armrests between or for the window passengers. By the time the driver had checked everyone and their luggage was about 30 minutes. We also had pick-ups in East Kilbride and Hamilton, where there was a change of Driver and the host, Archie. We had a very welcome short break at Abingdon Services and then proceeded to Scotch Corner for lunch. I don't know why Ian our driver left the M6 at Junction 40, which, has been for years and still is a bottleneck. He could easily have continued on the M6 to join the A66 further South. We eventually arrived at the Moto Services at Scotch Corner about 3.p.m. The temporary toilets are disgraceful, especially the disabled one, which I had to use. Then we were on the way to Scarborough through pretty villages, which was obviously a slow journey with single lane roads and later rush-hour traffic, finally arriving at the hotel about 6 p.m.
There was a very long queue in Reception and not enough staff or porters. Although we were one party, we were allocated rooms on different floors with different lifts. From -1 in the basement, where my friend was given a family room, although she had requested a walk-in shower, up to the 4th floor.
There was no Welcome Party as advertised, so we were not introduced by our host to anyone else or told about the hotel facilities. We only found out by accident that on the First Floor was a seating area and another entrance to The Ballroom where you could watch the entertainers. By the way, I do not consider a film or a disc jockey playing loud music on a computer live entertainment. We spent our evenings in The Empress Bar. Even on Hogmanay the disc jockey played almost to The Bells and again 15 minutes later. The programme said, we would be watching TV from 11.30.
There were far too many dogs in the public areas and guests bringing in carry-outs. Indeed at the table next to us was a family who bought some drinks at the bar but also had carrier bags at their feet with bottles of liquor and food.
The public toilets, if working, were appalling with broken door or no toilet paper. We went to our own rooms after one night.
The meals were very disappointing. Cold soup and desserts like school dinners. The fish was processed, grey and inedible. Considering Scarborough has a harbour and fishing boats, this is not acceptable. The so-called Festive Meal was also very disappointing.
My bedroom was clean, but lacked toiletries. There was only hand-wash attached to the wall and nothing in the shower. The shelf was useless as it tipped over if anything was put on it. It was only attached with sellotape at one end.
On our day trip to York, we should have been given the phone number of Archie in case of emergency. We were delayed leaving as one of the party had fallen and slowly made their way back. As neither Archie or Ian knew where they were, they could not go and look for them.
Apart from the times we were on the coach, we didn't see Archie or Ian the whole time we were in Scarborough.
On the Friday we were going home, the coach was going to leave without me. This was NOT my fault. I was on the 3rd Floor and it was a small lift. I waited almost 30 minutes with it coming passed full every time. I had my trolley case and walker, so had to wait. I could not contact anyone as there are no phones in the rooms or reception anywhere in the hotel. I was panicking by the time I got the lift.
We returned a slightly different way and reached the M6 quicker. Even with 3 stops, including lunch, we were back in Glasgow by 4.30.
This was my first coach trip and I was looking forward to it, not having had a holiday for 15 months due to ill-health. When my friend said she had booked this tour, I thought I would come too. It was also her first with Glenton, although she has been with other companies. The Good Companions and no single room supplement appealed to both of us.

I was booked on the Mystery Hogmanay Tour and then told it would be Scarborough, joining the existing Tour. I found out that The Mystery Tour had actually been cancelled and we were filling ip the Scarborough bus. The journey took over 8 hours, there was no porterage, no Welcome Meeting or Welcome Drink as stated on the ticket. The room allocated was clean but dilapidated with holes in the bathroom wall, and no toilet paper holder. The windows rattled all night. The staff were overworked and too few in number so tables were not cleared quickly. The food was of a very poor standard, cold food, empty trays in the buffet and unattractive choices of menu, some dishes were inedible. There were too many people and too few chairs in the public areas. The entertainment was dire with a man and girl playing loud pop music on a machine until a few minutes before the Bells.Dogs were present in the public seating areas and there were no attempts by staff to enforce rules or speak to children who were racing around. I had heard great reports about Glenton Holidays so why are they risking destroying their reputation by sending people to this Hotel? I only gave it One Star as No Stars was not an option!

Holiday makers from the east of Scotland get a raw deal as we are first to get picked up and last to get dropped off.

The staff in the hotel were super efficient and friendly. The hotel facilities were first class: when there was an issue they dealt with it immediately. The restaurant service was excellent as was the food and I loved the location as I could walk to the various places of interest to me. The choice of trips pleased me especially the Morpeth stop.

Being picked up at home by a taxi organised by you is a great asset to a journey.
