Glide has given me the opportunity to turn ideas into action. I'm finding it hard to keep away from my computer because the work flow is so fluent. It didn't take me long to put a working model together and it looks very polished. Looking forward to consolidating many websites and applications into my Glide projects.

Rapid deployment of business process…

Rapid deployment of business process optimizing apps. In LEAN methodology we deploy low cost automation to quickly improve production process. GLIDE enables this for global communities - rapid deployment. The ability to collect and share data without any implementation or training delay is fundamental aspect of the success.

Great for apps powered by lots of complex data

It's brilliant for developing apps that use lots of data. I've been using for some time, developed complex user journeys, the whole thing is powered by multiple data links. Great for relational data tables. Also the finished product looks great. Never gone wrong yet. It's not perfect; but it meets the number 1 criteria. It just works. Don't underestimate the need for smart design though; there are often several ways of achieving the same thing so to find the best method may require a lot of time to be invested. Whilst it's no/low code, you can't shortcut the testing. Good luck.

I was disappointed when I saw the app online - I like the original screen but I would have like to have learned how to make the text into a graphic on all pages

Otherwise I like the product, probably my fault not the technology -

I like the simple interface but am frustrated that the documentation does not match the app following the 3/20 move to glideapps. For example, the ability to adjust the look of the signin screen seems to be missing from pro accounts.

The fastest and easiest No Code builder

Hands down the fastest and easiest No Code platform out there (and we should know as we use Bubble, Adalo, Wordpress, Airtable etc in our organisation)! Everyone who can build a decent excel, can build an app with Glide (in the same time as you would build the excel. You can also use excel formula's within the Glide database btw).

Vs Bubble etc, Glide uses UI/UX best practices out of the box so that your app has a coherent aesthetic whether you have design/CSS skills or not. You simply build screens by dropping perfectly designed interface elements on the canvas (you can make a few design choices), couple them with your database and you're ready to go! Animations between screens are standard too so no need to worry about that.

Glide databases are also super easy to work with. A downside is that Glide is supposed to work smoothly only until 25000 rows of data (probably a bit more if you don't use computed columns too much) which is enough when you want to replace an excel but nothing for a more advanced application. However with the soon-to-come Big Table feature, you will be able to go up till 10mio of rows so we are looking forward to that. A smart feature of Glide databases is also that you can share them across apps. So it's super easy to build a big ecosystem of apps. For example, we have built a complete event management system with barcode scanning (the organisation we build it for hosts around 100 events a month and uses it successfully for 6 months now) and a separate ticketing app for event attendees, both using the same 'tickets' database.

Most of the apps we have made we're ready to launch within 8 hours of development time and that's just crazy if you compare that with classic IT development.

A very positive point of Glide is also that they are developing their platform really fast. Every month or so there's a new (mindblowing) feature. The last months for example they added a Google BigQuery integration, a new Big Table Database format (for larger datasets) and a bèta for more direct integrations within Glide (so that you don't have to use a webhook to Make or Zapier for some tools). These are really big additions and that they are adding them so fast makes me feel confident that the few things that the platform is missing will be added really soon. It is nice to know that in a year, the apps we will be able to build for our clients will be even more powerful. I believe that within this and a few year, Glide might be a whole ecosystem like Bubble or Wordpress is right now and this really helps us motivate our team to invest time in learning Glide. It seems pretty future proof right now!

What are those things that are missing right now?
A lot of it has to do with SAAS apps. Glide is not the best for SAAS right now. The use limit is quite tight (for 100usd/month you have a 500 logged-in user limit, on other platforms, there's no limit). Adding a native subscription and payment system (or integration with Stripe for example) would also help hugely towards SAAS.

I would also love to have more flexibility towards data. The small limit on databases rows (it's not a hard limit) is really frustrating. I hope the Big Table bèta is going live really soon and that it can adopt all functionality of the standard Glide Tables. It would also be cool to be able to sync whole Glide Tables with external tools such as Google Sheets and Airtable in two ways (but with the Glide Table as the Master) so that you can even have more flexibility there to build further with other no code tools (I know you can do everything with the standard API's that are included with every Glide table but that's not 'pure' no code).

Concerning performance, it would also be cool to be able to assign more power to a specific build. For example if you have build an app with lots of calculations and lots of rows and are seeing performance drop for that app, it would be cool to be able to add server resources for that app. Sometimes you can build an app more efficiëntly but sometimes you just need the pure power!

Backups is also a feature that is missing right now. You can backup your app by copying it but that's not really best-practice I think as their's no standard way to restore your app in a standard way.

Adding translation as a feature would also be cool. You can translate the app with the Weglot service but doing it in app would be nice.

Finally, I love how glide lets you build beautiful apps out of the box. But it would be cool to be able to change more of the layout yourselves. The standard 'best practice' layout option should stay, but there should be an option to change everything if you would want to. If I want to build an app with a 12 column layout, this should be possible with Glide I think (as it is with Bubble, Webflow etc)...

Contact us on flowcode.be if you would want a Glide app. If you can think it, we can make it!

Excellent, I have leveraged this in so many ways

Quick to learn, fast to make, long lasting solutions.

I can't code, but that didn't stop me making leading apps for booking platforms, CRMs, investor reporting, fund management, and more.

Truth is, so many people still use a collection of spreadsheets and this is super messy. With Glide you can make something 10X better than a spreadsheet and 80% as good as a very expensive (time and money) bespoke salesforce setup or newly developed product.

So easy to start

We manipulated Glide; initially for small apps, and thanks to the different tutorials, and the forum where we could ask questions, we managed to create an app for leave requests. Excellent, and easy to use.

A useful program

A useful program, but only if you have a lot of money to keep the maximum subscription. The update limitation is unjustified. To make a smart program and for it to function normally, you need a lot of updates, but this limitation destroys everything, and forces you to switch to alternative designers that do not have this limitation. Update unjustified restriction. Now, instead of focusing on the main thing, on the mechanics of the program, its design, I am distracted by this limitation, I am constantly forced to think only about this limitation, that now for every next 1000 updates $10 will be deducted. This is a very high price for my country. In general, is it fair to charge such funds for this limitation? Is this limitation important to your designer?

Misleading features, predatory pricing

Misleading features, predatory pricing, may aswell just hire a cheap dev on Upwork and build it yourself. Even though under the access/login screen I chose a Public app, because I then selected "only users in my users table" can login, its now classed as a private app (then why have that under the Public tab?), which you barely get any users for unless you want to pay a redic amount (seriously predatory pricing - it doesn't cost Glide barely any (if any at all) different whether users are private or public). There was no warning selecting this option would make my app a private app, and so I had hundreds of unhappy users unable to access it since it caps at 50 private users on $99/month (that pricing, jeez...) - I now have a quote on Upwork to build the app (which I'll be able to host on a tiny $10/month server) for $280, meanwhile, even the $249/month plan doesn't have enough private users (only 100!) to support my userbase which is around 500 users... so it would cost probably $4-5k+ per year to run my usecase with Glide or you can get it for $280 one-time on Upwork + $10/m for a cheap server - it's laughable these guys are acting like they're making app building accessible... make sure you get a quote on Upwork first if you're only building something simple, Glide pricing is predatory.
