I’ve been struggling for years with my equalisation and sinuses however I overcame it significantly on my previous freediving trip so I figured, warmer waters, more relaxing environment and I figured it would work.
I discovered that Emma Farrell is still a great freediving instructor and liveaboards are cool! And that being a member of Go Freediving gets you loads of free cool stuff! The best thing for me was gaining an official qualification, that was my primary aim. The dolphins are also up there but it is a different scale.
Other benefits would be meeting other freedivers from all over the world. That has to be a biggie, and all the experiences and knowledge that you gain from that. Also meeting other freediving instructors as they all have their own spins on techniques and they teach what they learnt so being taught by different instructors gives you different perspectives as they all approach it in different ways.
I’d recommend this trip even to non divers! It’s the best environment to learn how to freedive and being on a liveaboard it means you are saturated by freediving. The best way to learn anything is to immerse yourself in it. Jump in at the deep end!

I’ve been on a liveaboard before and it was amazing. It took me a while to come back because I’ve been doing too many other things, children, life, stuff… I’ve discovered that it was more relaxing this time without doing the courses. I’ve really enjoyed spending plenty of time out on the reef. Giannis D was really good I liked the Carnatic, that was really cool. Anything with a good swim through that looks like a wreck really. And the reef inside the lagoon was really pretty. Three benefits of coming on this course you meet new people, you get to dive in new places and it’s nice being on a liveaboard – it’s very relaxed. I’d recommend this holiday because I think even if people don’t freedive it’s accessible whether you want to go down to 30 metres or just want to snorkel.

After wanting I learn to freedive for many years, I recently went on a beginner’s freediving course with Emma and her team of instructors, and it was a fantastic experience. I found learning to freedive challenging but the instructors are so friendly, helpful and experienced at helping newcomers that I managed to get over my fears and progress. Go Freediving offers a range of courses throughout the year, has a good stock of equipment for beginners to use and is based at Vobster Quay, which is perfect for practicing skills. I would recommend Go Freediving to anyone to wants to learn to freedive.

I first met Emma Farrell of Go Freediving at the Visions in the Sea underwater photographic weekend where I bought Emma’s lovely book, ‘One Breath’ with photographs by Frederic Buyle. It inspired me to do the Introductory one day Try Freediving course with Go Freediving. It was so enjoyable and fun that it inspired me to do the Raid Freediver two day course. With Emma’s expert tuition the course taught me all the necessary freediving skills and breathing techniques to give me confidence to freedive to depths that I once thought impossible for me to do. There is great emphasis on safety and learning emergency and rescue skills. This makes you feel very secure. I enjoyed the whole experience and want to continue my practice.
I am also a SCUBA diver, which is quite different to freediving where you get a wonderful feeling of freedom without all that heavy cumbersome equipment. It has given me a different perspective and whole new dimension of being within the underwater realm.
If you want to learn to Freedive I would thoroughly recommend that you do it with the Go Freediving team who’s organisation is superb and instructors have the necessary experience and skills to train you in becoming a good, competent and safe freediver.

I've always wanted to spend as much time underwater as possible. I've done quite a lot of scuba diving and was interested in trying something less cluttered, trying a new discipline and adding an activity into my life that is connected to long-term wellbeing (and water!) It was a lot harder than it looks! It is about much more than being determined and being comfortable in water. I expect a lot from myself and felt both frustrated at how difficult such seemingly fluid and graceful diving is - but equally really pleased to discover how much of a challenge it is. You are not competing against anyone but yourself so in that sense it is a journey with yourself that need never finish. Being your own principle piece of equipment is liberating and also quite challenging and exposing. You can learn a lot about yourself and freediving is a great way to start relating to yourself in a new way. Emma and her team are wonderfully clear teachers and they are s*** hot on safety and correct procedure so you can explore your level and limits feeling completely safe and supervised. It was all also much more entertaining than I'd expected and laughter was one of the main ingredients of the course!! Now that's got to be good for you...

"I’ve been freediving as an amateur for a long time, hyperventilating, doing all the things you shouldn’t do and then I thought, I should learn to do this properly so I don’t kill myself and so I thought I’d look up UK freediving courses.
I decided to come to you because you’ve got the most professional website which gives more information about what you’re really offering, rather than it looking like some bloke has just made it in his bedroom and is going to take you out and 'do stuff with you'. It looks like you really have a plan and know what you’re doing. And that makes you feel more confident that you’re going to get something out of the training, rather than simply following some bloke around who thinks he knows a bit more about it than I do. Probably the biggest revelation is discovering that I don’t need to hyperventilate to achieve exactly the same, which was what I was interested in and doubtful of. And actually I think it’s pretty identical but without hyperventilation which is good and nice to think I’m less likely to kill myself, which is good! And playing with long fins for the first time was good fun, and being able to push harder and easier which was nice. The best thing about the course for me was I think playing with other people who want to do it, spending time with other freedivers, being in the water with other people who are clearly enjoying the same thing that I’ve done on my own for years, and no-one is really interested and so I’ve been doing it alone, because everyone else has just swum off, saying ‘come on! It’s boring just watching you going to the bottom and back.’ So it’s nice to be with people who are clearly sharing that passion. Benefits of the course would be learning to breathe, that’s really cool and it’s a great venue. I was quite skeptical when I saw it, thinking ‘UK freediving courses? diving in a quarry in the middle of the west of England, this is going to be rubbish’, but it’s beautiful, it’s relatively good visibility, and having stuff to see and do under the water is a good thing. And another benefit would be that you’re clearly very safety focused. Of course I’d recommend this course. It teaches you freediving. It does what it says on the tin!"

like snorkeling, and when I go on holiday, I like to look at the fish. I tried to do it without any training, and it’s didn’t work really well so I thought I may as well do it the proper way, and get the training, and I found out about Go Freediving from Iain and Tom who I met here at Vobster, looking really good in their wetsuits, so they told me about you, I found you online and booked on the RAID Freediving Course.
One of the reasons I decided to do the course, is I’m a scuba diver, and one of my worst nightmares is finding myself at depth with no air, so I thought ‘right! So I’m going to pay money to do exactly that!’
And what I discovered is that it’s completely different to what I was expecting and I could go much further than I thought I could. I discovered the importance of relaxation, and I think it’s going to help me, not just in freediving, but in other areas of my life as well. And it was a lot of fun!
I really liked the content of the RAID freediving course, how it was run. I didn’t feel rushed, I didn’t feel out of my depth at any time. I really liked the instructors, all of the instructors were brilliant! And you get to dive Vobster in a wetsuit, how amazing is that? It’s a really good course, I really enjoyed it.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the course!

I did the course over a weekend with Emma and her team in September 2016. I have always been in and around water having surfed my whole life, been a lifeguard for many years and participated in various pool and surf events. I was therefore quite amazed at how after just a few hours of coaching, I was able to hold my breath for so much longer and swim that much deeper in relative comfort. The team were extremely professional and at the same time very relaxed and informal, which you soon learn is the key to freediving itself. I would highly recommend Go Freeediving for anyone who wishes to learn this unique skill while doing so in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Had a great time learning to free dive with Emma and the team, the weekend I spent with them was full on but so much fun! Came away having both learned so much and seen drastic improvements in my ability. I even joined for a few of their club nights in Poole run by David, having moved from the area for work I miss it!
Hope to find the time to join them again!

I wanted to do the Master freediver course because I wanted to learn more training techniques, and Ive realised that there is a lot you can do in the pool or on dry land without having to come to Vobster or anywhere else. I enjoyed being challenged more and diving with people who are quite a lot better than what I have been diving with on the training weekends. So it has been a lot more challenging. The benefits of this course are that you go deeper, you can challenge yourself, learn more while having fun. I would recommend this course if you like freediving and want to go deeper"

"Davina McCall” gave me the inspiration do this course. I saw her on TV swimming with sperm whales and she learnt to freedive to 20m, I thought, if she could do it, could I?
It looked amazing!, I dont have much time off work to fit activities in and this seemed simpler than scuba diving and cheaper as less kit. I knew of Vobster Quay so it was a familiar place & a good facility for UK freediving. I wanted to get relaxed, build the skills my body needed, so when I went abroad I can do more underwater photography without the need of scuba equipment.
I discovered it was harder than I thought! I didnt think, that being in a head down position would affect my ear pressure when equalising as much as it did, as used to submerging vertically. I did a lot of breath training before the course and it really helped when I had equalisation issues, as I could remain underwater for longer to resolve my issues without panicking. Reading & understanding the course materials beforehand helped me relax & understand what my body might come to expect.
The benefits of doing the course with Go Freedivin, was the professional approach by all staff members, good information, good training, good instructors, the whole thing for was amazing and even with the problems I was having, there was never any pressure, the team were never pushing me too fast or quickly. This all paid off in the end, as I managed to pass the course(not easy, as I thought I would, but it was my body & nothing to do with the training).
I’d definitely recommend the course! I’ve had a really good experience. Even if someone thinks they are a bit too far away, Id say look, Ive met these people, Ive trained with them, they have been fantastic, everything was really well organised and it was a lot of fun as well as educational at the same time. Highly recommended.

Had a fantastic time on my free diving course. The facilities are great, Vobster never seems crowded even when busy and, despite what you may hear as a free diver, those scuba divers are ok people! The instructors on the course are first class, Emma is on hand to give advice, Heather has the patience of a saint and David helps out a bit too. I can't recommend highly enough and cant wait to get back down. It's a shame this only goes up to 5 stars.

I like snorkelling but I started to realise I was probably doing it wrong because I wanted to go deeper but it was hurting. On holiday in Egypt there was a freediving course at the hotel I was staying at, which I didn't realise at the time so I came home, saw the freediving video Freefall and that was it. I had to book onto a freediving course. I chose Go Freediving as it was the highest rated and I researched Vobster Quay and it it had very clear water. On the course I discovered I was doing it wrong, dangerously wrong, but was probably never in real danger of really hurting myself, I would have been hurt by bad equalisation. It's opened my eyes a lot and gone way beyond my expectations. The instruction is very relaxed. The course flowed perfectly. I learned more and more as I went along, and I was very comfortable on the course. I cannot see how any other course could be better than this, your experience is vast. I will be recommending you to anyone interested in freediving. My message to anyone thinking of learning to freedive is don't leave it as late as I did! If you're possibly thinking of freediving then get in touch with Emma and the team. Experienced, professional but most importantly, relaxed. When you look up from 12m under whilst driving the upside down truck and are completely chilled about it, you know you've been taught by the best! I knew I wanted to get to 20 metres, I thought that was a prerequisite of the course. Everything at the bottom was great! It was absolutely perfect.

My plan was to do scuba dives, then I found you guys and did both, so killed two birds with one stone. I want to experience new things and wanted to try the freediving, the whole experience of freediving. The highlight for me was that I did my longest dive, and floating opposite the bridge was an amazing experience, and swimming with dolphins was incredible. I've done yoga nidra before and it was absolutely brilliant, very relaxing. I highly recommend to anyone that goes on these trips to get up in the mornings and attend the yoga sessions. I loved spending time on the boat with like minded people, relaxing, the scenery, discovering new things and relax, relax, relax! I would recommend this trip to anyone and would recommend they try the freediving because it clears your mind.

The reason I chose to do it with Go Freediving because you seem like the best freediving school and you are the closest to us, which is convenient. I discovered that freediving is not all about the breath holding, but I find the equalisation is much harder. But I am slowly getting it with the help of the insturctors. Freediving is not just something you do on the weekends.
I highly recomemnd this course because of how friendly the instructors
were and I did not feel like I was in danger at any time during the course. Therefore this made you more relaxed which is what freediving is all about. Give it a go, it's brilliant
