John dealt with the sale of my car as quickly as he could considering the contact I had didn't bother to show up for our appointment, which resulted in a delay for a few days for my money until John picked up my query
Recently sold my car to Goodbye Car
Recently sold my car to Goodbye Car. Genuine, excellent and friendly service from Ramsay Allan. Took the hassle out of selling my car, and received a fantastic price not matched anywhere else.
Was impressed with the experience enough to come back and also sell my mum's car, on her behalf, a few weeks later too! Kevin
A happy customer
I was extremely happy with this transaction regarding the sale of my Renault Captur. I received a very fair website valuation which was considerably higher than other dealers. I then made an appointment to visit David Adam at their Hillington Branch, he made an honest assessment of the condition of the vehicle without going out of his way to try to find the least imperfection (this was my experience with Arnold Clark from whom I had actually purchased the car). A fair deduction was made for the condition of two of the wheel trims, but otherwise the website valuation was honoured. The transaction was smooth, honest and surprisingly easy. If it is a dealer rather than a private sale you are after, I would have no hesitation in recommending David Adam and his branch in Glasgow.
Very happy!
Sold our Toyota to the Perth branch earlier this week. Quoted value was significantly above other outfits such as WBAC. Experience at the dealers was very good, knocked the price down slightly (about 5%) as expected for a few chips and dings but nothing unreasonable. Ended up with a very fair price for the car which was in our account very quickly. Large chains like Peter Vardy or Carz as they are now branded often get a bad rep but we found the Perth branch to be honest and reasonable. Credit where credit's due.
Sold our Citroen C4 at Hillington…All in all a pleasant experience
Sold our Citroen C4 at Hillington branch, Glasgow. Took all the documentation as advised. Was dealt with by David Adam who asked a few questions, inspected the car, took it for a test drive then made me a good offer which was only £344 less than the online quote to take some minor bodywork issues into account. All in all a pleasant experience, no hassle and a much better price than quoted from We BuyAnyCar.
Excellent service and no hassle
Took my (70 plate) Skoda Karoq to Seafield Road branch in Edinburgh. Dealt with Paolo. I was expecting to have to haggle over price but they only took a few pounds off the original on line valuation for a minor paint chip. Very straightforward and no pressure. Got a fair price. Would use again.
Aggressive dry steering. Don't waste your time with this place
Took my car to Dundee branch as given an attractive offer online. Full service history, 3 months MOT, low mileage with chip on bonnet. Good condition. 65 plate.
It's clear the aim is to knock the price down. The sales person took the keys and went outside to look at the car. Unbeknown to the sales person, a family member was parked in the car park and watched what happened. The sales person took the car round the car park once, parked it, got out of car and proceeded to dry steer the car very aggressively, with wheels turning quite excessively.
The sales person came back in and said he'd had checked with someone and that the steering wasn't sitting right and would only put straight to auction. At that point I stopped the conversation and left. Clearly the aim is to hook you in with attractive price and then reduce price. My family member who was watching confirmed that only the sales person looked at the car.
I'm very angry that this person would a) treat the steering on my car like this,
b) waste my time.
I don't recommend this company. Stay clear
Glasgow Hillington Peter Vardy
After going on line and accepting the value of my car at Hillington Glasgow we arranged to take my car at the agreed time 11:00 on the 11th of May, the same day I am writing this review after waiting all day for someone to get back to discuss the totally unsatisfactory visit. Upon arrival my wife who had followed me in her car met Meghan and David who asked us for the online valuation which we showed them. I was then informed by David because my car had a private plate they would not even look at my car, we said that was fine the plate could stay with the car, to which David and Meghan said that would not be possible and it would take weeks to get my v5 back due to the particular car. I asked if this was in their T&C's Meghan said yes. So at this stage we left in disgust and once we arrived home, 50 mile round trip in 2 cars we checked their online T&C's which in clause 9 it states " if the vehicle has a personalised registration plate it will remain with the car and no value is assigned to it" after reading this my wife phoned Hillington Glasgow and spoke with Meghan and read out the clause, Meghan said her boss was in England and he informed her not to value cars with a private plate, which goes completely against their T&C's. My wife asked for her managers number she would not give it out and said she would call us back, she has not.
So what an absolute disgrace and totally unprofessional way to run a service, make up your own rules and don't follow your on line T&C's is not the way to run a business. We are also financially out of pocket for a 50 mile round trip in 2 cars, would not recommend this service to anyone unless you want to waste your time and money. Furthermore if you have T&C's then make sure you follow them and not just make decisions in isolation
Just a follow up not one person of the Peter Vardy team had the decency to call back to discuss why they are not following their own terms and conditions, all it shows is a total lack of respect for an unhappy customer when you are 100% in the wrong. It's continued sub standard service like this that destroys a companies reputation and as you can see you have more negative feedback than positive, tells customers all they need to know ...
Mr Ian Ogg
Very impressed
Very impressed. Online value was £1400 more than motorway or we buy any car. Easy appointment at the Perth branch. Lovely girl, very straightforward. Slightly lower than the online valuation due to a couple of chips, which was reasonable. Appointment on Tuesday afternoon. Paperwork took ten minutes and the money was in my account on Thursday. Would highly recommend.
Glasgow Hillington
Glasgow Hillington. I got the highest offer for my car from Goodbye Car, straightforward sell, highly recommended. Money transferred on the second day.

Aberdeen Branch..Was conned out of £500. Agreed on a price then they said couldn't take the car as it had a recall and could be a month before it was fixed so couldn't advertise car for sale until fixed so be lying in storage for a month.. Then they offered me £500 less because of their reason so thought fair enough if they cant advertise it for sale.. week later car is up for sale on their website and still with the recall to be fixed.. Got back in touch with them to tell them what i thought of they way they conned me out of £500 but just got poor excuse after excuse with no chance of getting £500 back..

Total waste of time ,could'nt give me an online value so had to book a slot , which I did . Turned up at the Aberdeen branch a the correct time to be told "the guys busy but should'nt be too long"
Waited 45 minutes, by that time had to go back to work so could'nt wait any longer
No apology from the staff just "ill get him to phone you" Why? I would have to come back again
Avoid
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME
Online valuation not met or honoured even though the rep admitting the condition was excellent. Blame was put on to the computer over valuating the car and the branch refused to honour. The branch manager also said Peter vardy didn’t have to honour valuations even though it’s the same company
Good deal on Goodbye!
Sold my car last week on Goodbyecar and was reasonably pleased with the price eventually offered. They did deduct some money for small blemishes but overall thought they were fair. Valued was pleasant and efficient.
Excellent Selling car
Selling car. Gave me a poor price on the internet. £500 less than other quotes. Checked over car and gave me a good price over best quote from other companies. Money in bank next working day. Aberdeen branch.
If ever selling a car they will be my first port of call.
Took my car in on a Friday and was…
Took my car in on a Friday and was offered a good price which was £1000 more than webuyanycar. Only issue was that I had to have minimum 3 months Mot. So they said if I got it Mot’d with no advisories within 7 days they would honour the price they gave me for valuation. Also one tyre might be below the 5mm tread they require but guy didn’t have measuring tool to confirm. So he agreed he’d measure it if I was selling to them and adjust the price by the price of a tyre. Now whilst I was getting my initial valuation on my golf r, I told him it had a stage 2 remap, uprated clutch, car was lowered which is quite obvious to see, ram air induction kit, basically I told him everything I knew the car had and was totally honest about everything. That didn’t seem an issue and he gave me my valuation subject to Mot and tyre. I then go back the following Friday with new Mot to sell them the car. My 72 year old mother has followed me up to take me home, she hates busy roads but had to drive up a motorway and I would drive back. The guy is the same guy as I booked that appointment to sell through him. He comes out to look at car after I had showed him the new Mot inside. He then asks if I got a new tyre. I said we agreed he would measure tread and if it’s not good enough adjust the price. He said that’s right he remembers now. He then goes inside and comes back out and measures the tread. It’s 3.2mm so it’s below the standard. He then says his boss seen the car driving in and told him he couldn’t offer me the price they said they would as my car wasn’t standard suspension (lowered) and they couldn’t sell it with a warranty because of this. I’m now obviously getting angry , he said they could only offer substantially less, I asked how much substantially less and he replied I wouldn’t take their offer. I never ever got a price for this substantially less offer. I proceeded back inside with him telling him how unhappy I was because I’d knocked back other offers on the car, I’d mot’d it when it still had over a month left on existing Mot. I’d had to take time off work to fit Mot in, my 72 year old mother’s time was also wasted along with mines and now she has to drive back on this motorway that makes her anxious. I also brung up the fact they advertise that if they don’t beat any other offer by £100 the will give you £500. I said where’s my £500 then, as I feel for the time wasting and just the pure sub standard service you’ve provided that I deserve it !
He then asks if I have the webuyanycar offer in writing , which unfortunately I didn’t.
So I gather my paperwork and car keys and just leave totally disgusted with the whole time wasting process. Once home I value my car online at webuyanycar again and it’s now £1500 less on the online quote that they were offering me 2 weeks before, so there’s no chance I’ll get near what they offered me when they viewed my car and gave me the valuation which was £1000 less.
Waste of time
Waste of time. Got valuation which included me letting them know I had no service history for car.
Took the car to be sold and the valuation was reduced by almost 50% which included a reduction for having no service history. Also said alloy wheels need refurbished.
My car doesn't have alloy wheels and surely if I told them I didn't have the service history the reduction would be included in my original quote.
Double Deductions
This is the second time I have used GoodByecar and the first time was first class. On this occasion I feel I have been double dunted with deductions for imperfections due to the fact I was selling my deceased fathers car and it was quite emotional. The “Average” price starting point was disappointing however I did not have full service history which it does state is required for “Good”. When I revisited the term for “Average” once I had agreed a price I realised the alloys etc were already included in the average price and no further deductions should have been included. I recommend you print out the conditions you are accepting before going to one of the places and challenging deductions as sometimes already included in the price given. Will think twice about using this company again and doing it when emotionally vulnerable.
Low quotes, no response to enquiries.
When recently selling my car I decided to try several of the online sites that claimed to offer the best deals.
I went onto the goodbye car website and was a little disappointed with the offer that was given, £8193 was very low compared to another site that offered £10500.
No worries I thought, they say on their site that they will better any quotes by £100 and if they cannot then you will receive £500 from them. I decided to put this to the test and contacted them by email to see if they could better my offer. I gave up after 4 attempts to get a reply, no better offer and no £500. It would seem that all that is on there website is not true.
Lower than average quotes and no response to enquiries, not the sort of company I would like to do business with.
Disappointing Experience
We brought our vehicle to your nearest facility (Dalgety Bay) having received an attractive valuation for our average condition car (based on the guidance of your website).
Whilst the process started out well with a pleasant advisor who reviewed our vehicle with us and advised everything looked as expected, things went down hill from there. A second advisor was asked to look at the car by the manager, who then came over to advise us the online valuation had to be revised downwards (over £1200 drop) due to MOT advisories, which we had already believed had been reflected in the ‘Average’ condition. Despite the work required not equating to this valuation drop, we were further advised that this was because the salesperson, sales manager and workshop employees would all need paid too. This was a shock as we would have expected that this be factored into every valuation regardless of condition. Even based on a lower condition category, the valuations did not match up but we were assured this was the best they could do as a dealer even if our car had been in ‘perfect condition’. Ultimately after a wasted 50 minutes in branch and 50 mile round trip we returned home disappointed with the experience and our view of the company (Peter Vardy) whom we have bought vehicles from in the past.
On a positive note though, we took our vehicle to another car buying company, where we received the valuation as promised online (significantly higher than offered by your branch that day), our vehicle signed over within 10 minutes and money in my account before we had driven away.
