Always a good store for our outdoor gear. Helpful staff, served by Mya this time and she was very helpful and patient.

Had a bike to work voucher and bought an e-bike plus a few bits and bobs but a great thanks and patience from rob who assisted me 🚵‍♂️ been on the bike any great up to now

Great place to visit for looking for a tent, really helps in decision making to see them erected.

On arrival I was approached by Ruth to see if I needed any help. No thank you. I'm only looking but then I couldn't find what I was looking for. Got a pair of sandals in August 25 went on holiday June 26 sandals started cutting into foot had a look at sandals on right on something was sticking out and cutting into my foot.
Took back to go outdoors on 25 June 26 spoke to Ken who said couldn't do any thing because they had been worn. I had only worn for under two weeks .After pointing out merrel 1 year guarantee he had a couldn't care less attitude and made a sarcastic remark when walking out.I don't expect anything will be done about this so I will be getting in contact with the manufacturer as well.

Excellent service from Emily who pointed out an offer that I had missed. Staff were very pleasant despite the fact that they were clearly suffering in the heat as there appeared to be no air conditioning in the store.

I was served by a staff member called Emily. She gave great advice and spent time in discussing my needs in terms of gear. She was polite and ensured I got what I needed.

Go Outdoors represents reasonable value compared to other options, plus you get to see the products before you buy them. However, you do need to be a member to take advantage of any discounted pricing. The cost is a reasonable £5 So it is that a couple of hours before visiting, and knowing my membership had lapsed, I went online to purchase membership.

What wasn’t made obvious was that you still get and need a physical card.

I’d imagined that in 2026 you’d be able to add a digital card to your Apple Wallet or similar, but no. I still had a membership number which was sent in an email within seconds of paying, but in store at the till, having picked up what I needed, I was told it wasn’t recognised and I needed to wait for the physical card (I’m still waiting for that by the way)

So, I asked could I use my Bluelight card instead? Normally, yes, but not without your membership number being active. The lady in the queue behind me (sorry for your delay) proudly told me that she had her membership card in her digital wallet on her phone. Strange.

I wasn’t prepared to pay the premium price without discount and so left empty handed.

At home I ordered online, using the membership number which worked, and selected click and collect. The items were ready within the same day and I collected them the following day.

As a final twist, whilst in store on the first visit, I’d asked the salesperson on the boot section about the sizing of the Brasher socks I was after. I was advised they tended to be a bit under size. So taking a 12 boot, I got the 12+ size. Turns out these were quite generous, so I needed a 3rd trip to exchange 2 pairs.

So, for me, they fall short of what would have been 5 Stars by virtue of otherwise helpful staff being bound by obstructive IT/policy.
