Absolutely do not subscribe to this…
Absolutely do not subscribe to this shower of a company. I have received only 3 out of 6 monthly magazines so far. Excuse after excuse is trotted out, current favourite is the Virus. My problems began way before that.
Impossible to cancel a subscription
Impossible to cancel a subscription. Seriously, check their website. There is literally no way to cancel a subscription other than by reporting the payment to your credit card company as fraud.
Do not use!!!!
Ordered magazines 6 weeks ago and despite them taking my money, I’ve still not received them! Don’t bother using these guys. Wait for lockdown to end and go to the shop, you’ll get them quicker
Stay away from this company
Stay away from this company. Terrible customer services. Would not use this company ever again. Multiple times I haven’t received my magazine. Emailed them numerous times to finally get a reply saying the issues I asked for are not in stock and they will take less money next month. They still took the same amount of money and yet again didn’t send all my magazines.
I’m trying to cancel my subscription…
I’m trying to cancel my subscription but they are saying that I have to stay signed up for 12 months?!? I never agreed to that. Terrible company.
Wish I looked here first
Wish I looked here first, ordered 4 one of magazines being in lockdown. Money taken no mags received and no reply from them when it’s hard times for us all this is just not on
Got 2 subscriptions from this company…
Got 2 subscriptions from this company and ordered a couple of back issues too. So far everything has turned up really promptly - I'm very impressed!
Rip off
I have signed up for a monthly subscription to one of their magazine, paid for it and then received an email saying that the payment has not gone through.
Later when i checked my bank statement i noticed not only that the payment has gone through, but that they charged me twice for the same subscription the next day.
I tried emailing them asking for a refund, but they refused it saying it was a reccuring payment. But a reccuring payment happens 1 month after the first payment, not 1 day after.
DO NOT SUBSCRIBE to anything they're selling!!! They're ripping off people.
Poor digital platform - years out of date
The digital platform for Trout and Salmon magazine does not work. I have bought this magazine for 43 years - mostly print. The fact that they have taken my money for a product that does not work and won't refund me is a rip off (I'm quite IT savy - so no stupid errors on my part) - I'm done with T&S - loyal customer lost for ever.
If you are thinking of using the digital magazine - my advice is avoid. Go to the shop instead and get a paper one
I wish I'd read the reviews on here…
I wish I'd read the reviews on here before taking out a Subscription for Trail. There is nothing wrong with the magazine. It's good in fact but the customer service offered by Great Magazines (Bauer Media) is nothing short of disgusting.
Auto renew with absolutely no communication prior and then make out like they're doing me a favour by reducing their overhead costs by not communicating. Do me a favour please and treat your customers with a little more respect than that.
They have refused to offer a refund but have cancelled my subscription anyway. So great, no money AND no subscription. Feels like a short term cash grab strategy though I see from these reviews they've been doing it for years. Shame for the Trail editorial staff to be associated with this sort of operation.
Took money from my account with no…
Took money from my account with no prior notice and have conned me in to auto renewal for mcn, how can this be even legal. I have read mcn for 25 years but now when i read it all i can think about is how they have ripped me off and i no longer enjoy reading it as a result. Never again, I will read the free motorcycle papers in future. Dreadful Phillipines call centre was no use whatsoever and I kept having to ask them to repeat everything. Am going to see how far I get with downloading small claims court papers for a remedy
Avoid like the plague
Terrible company to deal with.
Signed up for a print and digital subscription in December 2019, didn't receive either until end of Jan 2020. Was told that my first print issue would be delivered on the 23rd of January.
Not sure why they need nearly two months to deliver a printed issue but surely the whole point of Digital is it can be accessed at any time.
However wasn't able to access Digital Issue until the 23rd January.
Made to jump through pointless hoops to sign into the app, by phone staff who don't seem to understand despite me telling them repeatedly I work in IT and know how to sign into an App.
Finally found out after long winded conversation the reason I couldn't sign in is because they hadn't set up access.
If the staff had read the computer screen they would have seen this and saved me the hassle.
Didn't receive February issue and after logging on to the website find out my subscription has been cancelled with no explanation or email to inform me.
If you need to call to speak to anyone you get through with a call centre in India, I have no problem with this provided the staff can do the job they are employed to do.
However the support staffs grasp of English is so bad they ask you to spell everything phonetically, again this would be fine if just once but you are asked 5 times or more to repeat the information phonetically.
Luckily I have only been billed for one issue so cancelled my DD.
Bauer if you bother to read these reviews, Surely the point of a subscription is supposed to make things easier but if anything your staff make it very difficult for the consumer.
I took advantage of a special £1…
I took advantage of a special £1 introductory offer for 3 issues, which stated that the subscription would renew for 3 months. NO mention of a yearly subscription.
Now the company insists that I have committed to a year (I didn't I only signed up for the 3 monthly package with the trial).
They scam people out of their money. Do not fall for their lies.
Special offers are a scam
Special offers are a scam, avoid.
I took advantage of a special £1 introductory offer for 4 issues, which stated that the subscription would renew if I continued at £19.50 per 3 months. NO mention of a yearly subscription.
Now the company insists that I have committed to a year (I didn't I only signed up for the 3 monthly package with the trial). They claim that the payment for the full subscription is taken BEFORE the trial begins. Not exactly a trial?
Just a crafty way of scamming people out of their money.
Didn’t receive my first two issues or…
Didn’t receive my first two issues or the gift that was supposed to come with the subscription. Contacted the company who said they don’t issue refunds. Appalling customer service.
Printed on really low quality paper
Printed on really low quality paper. I was scammed into subscribing to Country Walking and the first issue was late in being delivered. I only wanted it for the promised progress tracker but it wasn't inside. I contacted them and was given a download link which doesn't work. Avoid this company as they don't seem to care about their customers.
Just don't expect magazines to be delivered!
I think the reviews here say it all. I have subscribed to both Practical Classics and Car Mechanics magazines for years and over the last 13 months or so the service has fallen off a cliff. Either the magazine does not turn up at all (about 50% of the time) or it is over a month late (the other 50%). In the last 13 months there has not been a month when there hasn't been a problem. I write to Great Magazines (Bauer) on a monthly basis to ask where my magazines are and no-one there has been able to tell me why the service has gone down the toilet. Instead of getting my beloved magazines each month I have to go through the blood pressure raising process of emailing Great Magazines (Bauer) only to get 'sorry' but no explanation and the same again next month. After over a year of the worst service you could imagine I cancelled the subscriptions to both magazines, which broke my heart, as I love the magazines but just cannot bear the service. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE just pick them up at your newsagents.
Not for one minute touch this company
Not for one minute touch this company
If you value your money, and not dealing with a call centre in India who is lies, unwilling to support, and puts the phone down on you at any time you ask for a refund. They dont send your subscription, and keep saying we will send it again within the next 7 to 10 working days, each time you call them.
Scam/Fraud company. DONT TOUCH
I feel that my account have been hacked and I've been robbed.
I paid for what I'd thought was a subscription for a set number of months for two different magazines as a gift. Now I'm shocked and dismayed to learn that this company has been taking money from my account ,multiple times, long after the 6 or 12 months have elapsed! Without giving me any notice of their intention but because it's in their small print they tell me that they can get away with it!
Under most circumstances this would be classed as a criminal activity.
Steer well clear of this company or you will pay much more than you intended.
Unhappy.....don’t waste your money
I was happy with my subscription until I received a random magazine, so contacted Great Magazine to let them know. I was then told that the magazine I subscribed too which was a food magazine had stopped being published so they decided to just replace it with a magazine about landscapes. I had no pre-warning that this was going to happen giving me the chance to choose something different I was just supposed to just except the change. Really unhappy with the customer service.
