I am an expat working overseas in Japan. We have special exemptions from the government for earned income exclusions for overseas work. I thought I needed special tax preparation services to handle that but that is not the case. I don't know about this company as a whole but they did not do anything special considering they are a COUPLE HUNDRED dollars more than turbo tax. You would think that you are getting superior service for your money. Every extra form you have to submit is extra money (i.e. rental properties, etc...) I had little to no contact with the accountant who did my taxes and she waited until the a few hours before the deadline to send me my taxes for review. My accountant refused to submit some charitable contributions because she "interpreted" the tax code differently then i did. If she would have told me that in the many weeks proceeding the moment at the end of tax day when she finally decided to send me my return for my review, then i would have used a different service (probably TurboTax and saved a couple hundred dollars). They promote this amazing, quality, and all encompassing service but in reality they suck and they only email you. YOU CANT EVEN HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THE ACCOUNTANT! SERIOUSLY?! ABSOLUTE GARBAGE tax service! She is probably a nice person but their business model and the way my taxes were handled/prepared was bad. Last point is that I have never, ever submitted a review. I have to submit an amendment to my taxes because there is a $7000 difference between what i am owed and what I received. Because of that I am submitting this review. Take heed and use TurboTax... WAY BETTER SERVICE, ONE THIRD THE PRICE!

Professional and easy to work with. The accountants message you prior to tax season as a reminder to get your tax information together, and during tax season are very responsive. I believe they aim to reply to emails within 24 hours. My accountant always has good suggestions. She even filed my extension for me at no extra cost.

Real humans who get the job done. Taxes are stressful, and while this service is not cheap, consider that you'll save a lot of time and stress, and feel confident that the job is done right. Best of all, I didn't owe any US taxes so that helps me justify the price.

I was very satisfied with the direct support and guidance provided to me by the accountant assigned to me. He was knowledgeable and very responsive. However, he and I both had to deal with ongoing problems with the website failing to update his draft and final filing documents. Though the help desk were very responsive and professional, the problem persisted for over two weeks. I expect to use Greenback again next year.

My accountant Nisha was extremely helpful in helping me complete my US expat taxes for the third year in a row. The platform itself is very intuitive and easy to use but the direct contact to your accountant to whom you can ask specific questions is the most helpful aspect of Greenback and why I will keep coming back. It’s very expensive, like all of these services but if you need help in filing your taxes, it needs to get done and I suggest doing it with greenback.

I've done my own US taxes until now, first manually, then using a tax software package. Given the complexity of the tax code I've always been nervous about whether I've put the correct information in the right boxes.

Having left paid employment near the end of 2024 and moving into retirement, I was keen to make sure my taxes were done right. I have investments in both the US and UK and it's tricky to report on these properly given the different fiscal years.

I tried various accountancy firms in both countries, but foreign residency knowledge is hard to come by and the charges for those that claimed knowledge were extremely high.

My assigned accountant has been wonderfully supportive from start to finish. He answered a range of questions and was able to guide me to the information I needed to provide. I felt he was careful, diligent and patient.

The outcome is that I believe he has prepared an accurate and truthful return, keeping my individual circumstances in mind. That is a great comfort.

They were professional timely and knowledgeable

Greenback is a first class tax preparer. They practice good online security, and my accountant -- Prasanth PG -- was competent and detail-oriented. The support team is attentive and intelligent.

The only downside is the price, which is higher than you'd expect for someone with a simple tax situation. This would be understandable if they treated their employees well, but the high turnover in accountants suggests otherwise.

I worked with Rakhy Sudhakar and received excellent service at a better price than other options I considered. Highly recommended!
