Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 457 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the delivery service, frequently reporting late arrivals and cold food, often due to drivers not using warming bags or containers. People also encountered numerous issues with their orders, including missing items, incorrect deliveries, and orders being dropped or not delivered as expected by drivers. The customer service was widely criticized for being unhelpful, unresponsive, and often providing scripted replies without resolving problems, with some even reporting agents hanging up or disconnecting chats. Reviewers also found the refund process frustrating, with difficulties in obtaining full refunds for missing or incorrect items, and some were told they could not cancel orders even when significantly delayed. The overall service was described as unreliable and poor, leading many to state they would not use the platform again and would opt for alternative delivery services.

This scam artist company banned me after filing a valid complaint and then wouldn’t let me to speak to a person and then emailed me that they would continue to charge me the fee for their premium service. All this after taking my hard-earned money for ten years. Disgusting.

I’m deleting Grubhub again for the same…

I’m deleting Grubhub again for the same reason I left before: consistently poor service and no accountability. Over the past few years, I’ve repeatedly received incorrect or incomplete orders and was often told I could not be refunded for items I never received.

As a delivery platform, customers trust Grubhub to ensure orders arrive correctly or to fairly compensate when they don’t. If I pay for an item, I should receive it — every time. It should not matter how many past orders were correct. Paying for food I never received is unacceptable.

Grubhub used to be my top food delivery app, but the service has become extremely unreliable. Unfortunately, I will no longer be using the app.

I order meals for my 90 year old mother. Last night, the meal was said to be delivered but it was not...It was a really nice steak dinner and a bottle of wine from Outback. Grub hub did refund the order, but it is unacceptable that they allow people to work for them that actually STEAL someone's meal..I think prosecution should be allowed and these delivery drivers arrested for theft

Today is my daughter birthday.
I ordered one of her favorite Thai food and they delivered the order for another person, of course we didnt eat other peoples food that we dont know what it is.
I called them to help me and deliver the right order for me, and the answer was that there is going to be a refund, but we ended up without dinner for a special occasion. Totally wrong and frustrating for me.

Micromanaging Contractors Without Employee Benefits Is Not “Gig Flexibility”

My experience with Grubhub left an extremely bad impression of how this company operates toward contracted gig workers.

As someone who works in the training and staffing industry, this situation was especially concerning to me from a professional standpoint while also being someone simply looking for flexible side gig work.

If a company wants to treat drivers like employees through micromanagement, pressure, monitoring, scheduling expectations, and outreach questioning inactivity, then there should also be employee protections, guaranteed wages, benefits, and actual support that comes with that level of oversight.

Instead, Grubhub appears to want the advantages of controlling workers without the responsibility of treating them like employees.

I was contacted by Grubhub because I had not logged into the system yet despite being classified as an independent contractor. I had already been instructed on how to disable inactivity alerts, yet I was still contacted asking when I planned to log in. Before I had even completed a single delivery, I already felt pressured and monitored instead of supported.

The entire reason many people pursue gig work is flexibility. Many drivers have careers, families, health concerns, or unpredictable schedules and need the ability to work when it fits their lives. What I experienced instead felt like micromanagement without the protections or incentives of actual employment.

When I raised concerns about this contradiction during the call, the representative became defensive instead of handling the conversation professionally.

To me, this reflects a broader corporate culture issue that comes from the top down. Leadership sets the tone for how contractors are treated, and this experience left me feeling that Grubhub does not genuinely respect the independence they advertise to gig workers.

After this experience, I will not be supporting Grubhub as either a contracted gig worker or as a consumer. There are other gig platforms available, and I no longer feel comfortable doing business with a company that operates this way.

Last night we ordered for the first…

Last night we ordered for the first time via Grubhub. After ordering from a local restaurant and being charged for the meal, a driver named Oleksandr contacted me via text and asked for my address. I gave it to him and heard nothing further. We were notified our dinner had been delivered. We never got it. It was left at the restaurant because there was a glitch in the app and the restaurant’s address was put in place of mine. By the time we found out the restaurant was closed. Grubhub refuses to refund our money, they will only give us a credit of some sort. Really bad service.

Worse then door dash

Worse then door dash. Atleast door dash is on time grubhub so late and asking for more money. If you have a choice go with door dash. Grubhub cant even make a 10min delivery within 2hrs. They waited so long the place closed before the food was delivered and the place was open for those 2 hrs.

First and last time user

This was my first time using GrubHub and the order was delivered without the most expensive part (the whole reason I made the order in the first place). When I contacted customer service, they flatly refused to answer any basic questions or fulfill any basic expectations of customer service. When I pointed out that this is bad customer service, they ended the chat/hung up on me. Never again

If I could leave 0 stars I would

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Our food is continually cold. The drivers make 2 other stops before ours and support is AI or someone from outside the US that doesn’t help. The most the ever give is $10. A complete waste of time and will never get my business again.

Had a horrible experience today

Had a horrible experience today. I ordered from Red Lobster and half the order was missing. Our ordered included two drinks. The bag was not sealed and you could easily look in it, therefore it was obvious the drinks weren't there. Additionally the food we did receive was cold. I called and they can't just reorder the missing food, so I have to wait for a refund and then it cost me even more because I had to reorder the missing food. In the end I am pretty sure the driver just kept the missing food items.

The worst delivery app period. Reliably poor sercice. Tonight was our last try. A smallish order from Circle K and a 30% tip delayed, delayed, delayed. Kept throwing account credits at me to not cancel and then 15 minutes later they just cancel and send and email. wth

We always order from DoorDash with virtually no problems at all. I wanted to order from a restaurant that DoorDash did not offer so I went to GrubHub and that turned into a complete disaster. Canceled order. I know the owner of Eli’s Jerusalem Grill / DOORDASH!!!!

Just like Amazon and Whole Foods…

Just like Amazon and Whole Foods deliveries, GrubHub has gone into the toilet. My last three orders were either wrong or over an hour past the original delivery time. Get out of Amazon prime, Whole Foods deliveries and GrubHub. It's not worth your money or the stress. When they delay your order by an hour they tell you they cannot give you a refund because the restaurant has already started preparing your order. So the food sits there for an hour before it is brought to you and is Stone Cold when you receive it.
