I love Gudrun Sjoden clothing. I love the colours and the organic cotton and linen that some pieces of clothing are made from. I have been buying from them for years. Usually I went to their shop in London, but started buying on line after the Covid started. They use UPS for delivery from Sweden. Never does UPS deliver on the day it says it will, it’s usually days late, my latest delivery was a day early and delivered to the wrong address. If you look up UPS on Trust Pilot, you will see that 92% of nearly 25,000 people have given it a one star review. As Gudrun Sjoden prices are very high, I would expect them to use a delivery company that is able to deliver to the address on the parcel on the day they tell you by email that it will arrive. So clothing is great, delivery appalling.
I'm a loyal customer of Gudrun Sjoden since I first discovered this brand a couple of years ago. I'm so addicted to their designs, colors and patterns that now most of my wardrobe consists of them. It's style of fashion that takes layering to look good, so all pieces are made with that in mind. Many of them are thin and lightweight so that you could put multiple pieces on top of each other. If that's not your style, you might find buying from this company not worth it. Because it's pricey, yes. You kind of have to have a collection of items to start mixing and matching. Personally, I love it. If occasionally I buy an item on sale that doesn't work for me, I just resell it on Ebay.
The quality of the clothing and the fabric is not good. I love the designs, but they are not worth the money. Particularly the trousers.
I ordered a wrap around jacket last Dec.but did not wear it until this fall when I noticed again that the fabric in front bunches at the hem, noticeably so. I sent pictures of the jacket on a hanger, on me and lying flat in 4 exchanges with Customer Service. They refused reimbursement or replacement for this manufacturing flaw even tho according to their policy I have 3 years to notify them. Customer Service offered me 15% on my next order.
My sister, who knows tailoring and several friends have seen the jacket and agree it does not hang correctly. I am flummoxed. I offered to send the jacket to them and they said yes. After receiving it, they STILL refuse to acknowledge the flaw. That is crummy Customer Service. I have bought quite a few items from Gudrun Sjoden and have recommended to others who have purchased clothes too. I assume they don’t care about keeping honest, loyal customers.
I ordered a pytte underskirt. I have often looked at this brand and liked what I saw. I wanted a particular type of skirt and couldn't find it anywhere else, so decided to spend what is for me, a significant amount. I am so disappointed. On the positive side, it is exactly what I wanted, but no way is it worth £64. The fabric is so cheap and flimsy. If I had the time, I could make this myself. I won't be ordering from them again.
I brought some Nappa boots. The problem is no matter what socks I wear within minutes of walking the socks slip half way down my feet. The boots look lovely - but they are simply impractical to wear. I've never had this before with any other boots, so I can only assume it is something about they way they are designed. They cost £160 - so I have been disappointed. I was also quite disappointed in the quality of the fabric. The clothes look lovely on the internet, and the prints are wonderful - I'm not sure they are worth the price tag.
Returning a Karen Dress/Large $69.60 ON SALE.
Too tight in Breast area. I have been a long term on line customer of GUDRUN. I failed to realize that NO RETURNS NO SALE ITEMS . I received the returned dress to me the week of Aug 23, 2022 - Stating that No return or replacement for another item.
My complaint: I feel that in the modern day of internet shopping that a NO RETURN ON A $69.00 item is not good customer service. I shop on line 98 % of my shopping time as many modern day people do. I have cancelled my catology from Gudrun and have no interest in doing business with them.
Please NOTE: EVERY retail business I enjoy ordering from accept returns ! High End Retail - The Gudrun return policy is dated - archetic. Poor CUSTOMER SERVICE. Now I have an item I can not wear and now you have lost a customer. Allison Sabraw Customer #117988139
I love Gudrun clothing however my recent experience has put me off. I’ve wanted a fabric belt for ages and finally ordered one. Went several times to collect from ups nominated shop countless times to be told to return. Eventually I was told the driver took back due to it being damaged. How much damage can happen to a fabric belt???? Contacted UPS and Gudrun. End result no belt. Where did it go?? However Gudrun customer service actually chastised me for contacting UPS. Sorry that’s not on. I’m put off by the lack of respect. Apology for my loss of order feeble to say the least too.
I ordered for the first time with GS. By mistake I did not keep the bill they had put into the package. And unlike other companies, you do not receive the bill by mail or can not download it via the webpage. This is not really environmentally friendly, but for sure not customer friendly because when I asked to receive an electronical copy of the bill, they refused categorically. They would not care why this was important to me.
They lost a customer with my first order.
Lovely colours but the quality of material doesn't reflect the price tag
After I'd made an order online after working hours, the Customer Services trouble-shooter (?) in Dunfermline phoned to say that she had no means of contacting the team in Stockholm to amend the size as I'd requested by email within 10 minutes of placing the order. The UPS Tracking details make it clear that there was plenty of time to actually assist me before despatch, but it seems Stockholm is incommunicado! I will now lose £10 just to return the item & have unsurprisingly unsubscribed
I’ve been buying from these for a few years after I decided to try to stop buying non ethically in total. People have sadly gotten used to mixed fabrics that can’t be recycled, harsh dyes and other things. I have found their jersey washes and wears very well, especially the lyocell. The wool fabrics are more delicate and really do need hand washing and drying properly, but don’t bobble much. The cotton knitted jumpers and tonics are my winter mainstay now, so warm and easy to care for. The nylon socks tights and leggings are very thin - about 50 denier, so I don’t get these as nothing like that survives my dogs climbing on my lap! They are very nice though. The parents are great, and so many have a dark background which is so much more practical for everyday wear. Yes they cost more than non ethical shops, but they are cheaper than most ethical suppliers and on a par with Seasalt which I also love.
I've been buying Gudrun Sjoden for a long time and as everyone else has said the fabric quality is now pretty awful. They make much of their green credentials but there is now very little cotton jersey. Mostly it is now a cotton, modal or lyocell mix. Both modal and lyocell are derived from bamboo and so whilst they are natural materials, they're very heavily processed and that processing is not very green. More to the point I can only wear cotton jersey, not modal or lyocell. This year, from all their collections, there were perhaps 4 garments for me to choose from. It's such a pity. There print designs are great and there's nothing else out there like them. But I think I'm now an ex Gudrun Sjoden customer.
I just discovered this Swedish clothing site about 6 months ago. Finally a shop that sells quality clothing...and yes, you do pay more but you get what you pay for. Anyone looking for bargains, sales and cheap clothing...don't shop here. I have placed 5 orders so far. The quality of the clothing is at a very high standard. The fit is excellent, the designs charming. The clothes tend to be a bit too bohemian for my more reserved style but there is plenty of choice of clothing that is more toned down...with an added punch of beautiful designed fabrics. It's hard to find plus size, quality clothing but they do sell XXL in some of the clothing.
Clothing on the market, particularly in larger sizes and for older women, tends to be plain, poorer quality and lacking in style. The designer, Gudrun herself is over 80 and very stylish so age doesn't have to make anyone look dowdy.
I honestly don't see how people find Gudrun's clothing anything but really beautiful and creative.
One negative; I don't appreciate paying $15 US for returns. I think they should build return costs into the price of the clothing. Or at least make returns more reasonable.
Have had several things from here and loved them all. Great quality. Had several items from the hen collection and they're just gorgeous. The cardigans are thick, even the summer ones, so well made. Had one wrong item delivered and the replacement was sent within a few days. The item I returned was with the free prepaid label provided. Do read the small print as returns can be costly but I've never had to use that yet. The items are expensive but you get what you pay for and cheaper things fall apart much more quickly. Have to add, at last a company that see actually cater to a real woman's shape...'generous fit at the hips'...now I can hid my middle aged tummy!
Just in time I bothered to look at article 23203 on the website - the black variety of a linen cardigan and when I used the blow up scan I saw the garment was so thin you could see the colour of the item below! Beware!
I bought a sweater recently in the GS Covent Garden shop and was blown away by the great customer service and lovely products on display. Buoyed up by this, I ordered a couple of tops from their online store. Big mistake. Sadly the tops were unsuitable and I needed to return them. I should have read the returns blurb properly which states that whilst exchanges cost nothing, returns incur a fee of £10. Penalising returns isn't going to encourage customers to return. I called to ask if I could return the goods to my local shop but was told that only exchanges were possible in store. The customer service executive was like a brick wall. How can two arms of the same company be so different? So disappointing.
I was client for many years, but I am very disappointed with the drop in quality (combined with a raise in prices !!).
The quality of the fabrics is specially bad. Now, even "medium to heavy weight" linen are super thin, fragile and short-lived. The knits (linen, cotton and wool) are lose, fragile, and show holes quickly despite adequate care.
A cotton/linen dress and a linen tunic developed holes under the arms after less than 6 months of wear.
The back-side seams of three pairs of trousers ripped, because the fabric thinned so much and so quickly.
And all this by these prices !
I haven't bought anything in the past year, and only a few items the year before that. The prices are not justified by the quality presented, and there are better offers elsewhere.
These are incredibly overpriced, poorly made, hideous clothes which look amazing in their catalog but aren't in the real world. The fabrics are paper thin~any thinner and they'd be toilet paper! I didn't stick around long enough to wash anything as back they went and only got a partial refund. Wretched dreck. Avoid at all costs.
Shockingly poor value. £89 for what was basically a light cotton blouse. To add insult to injury £10 is deducted for a return where you realise that there is nothing else representing value for money available as an exchange.
