I give a 4 star bc I might be missing something about setup. I continually have to fool with settings. I wish the levels of sound and tones were all in one place and would stay consistent as I load different gp files

I love the new features, scale charts, micro movement on notes, and new voices. The only thing I wish there was, but isn’t, is a way to notate chord tones instead of fingering on a chord diagram (ex. R b3 b7 9, etc.) you get the idea

1. Download from the internet, quality guitar TABS of songs I wish to learn & play.
2. Learning new songs by ear, and recording the notes -as the song unfolds. I then edit for future improvements in the score & use in practice sessions.
There are many features yet to be learnt - I'm so looking forward to the journey of learning & using them.

The output is ugly compared to other notation software and there's no way to tie into a 2nd ending.

Great tool to work any guitar style tab and learn how to play it. It would be nice to add in future upgrades, an option where the user could input the notes in the scores and then have the equivalent tab and even change it, to any other string, just like musescore.

I find the site very useful. The learning process is ongoing and my tutor recommended I try it.

This is my first time using Guitar-Pro. I’ve been using it for a few weeks at this time, but software seems very intuitive so far. I still have a lot to learn, but use it mostly for learning songs and find it very useful for this purpose. More in-depth videos of how to use the software would be helpful.

Very comprehensive tool for learning licks, riffs, melodies, rhythms. Various features to adjust to personal needs. A bit overwhelming in the beginning but once understood it is great! I miss the feature to import tabs on pdf.

Good software. Sad it's not on Linux. With new packaging managers or even AppImage possibilities it's super weird this program can't exist at least in some way on Linux

For the most part it works great. The thing I don't like is that you can't customize chords the way you want to.
The position on the neck, the fingering and naming of the chords gets interfered with too much by guitar pro 8. Perhaps there are ways to bypass the interference that I don't know yet. Than it's 5 stars.

Not your fault at all. I just needed it for printing out guitar tabs. So therefore there is too much for me. But i guess for the more advanced it rocks !!

it is great software to put your music 'on paper', change it, experiment etc. And also the options to change settings (like play it as '12 string' or 'piano') are nice to have.
For me, not used to writing down music at all, the many options are still a bit fuzzy, also it still takes me a lot of time to make simple changes. Could be me though...

I've been using GP5 since forever and finally did the upgrade. Works like a charm! And it runs on both my Windows laptop and my iMac.
Absolutely worth the money!

Love the new feature that allows you add an audio and sync it with the tab.
Not an easy process to be fair, but amazing anyway.

Love the upgrade from GP5 to GP8.
I tried GP7 for a little while and found that the tool for transposing drop-tuned 4string bass tabs into 5-string standard tuning was totally busted. The ability to do this on GP5 was the whole reason I got a 5-string bass where I wouldn't need to keep retuning.
GP8 delivers though! The automatic adjust fingering tool gives reasonable hand positions instead of doing insane fret jumps.
Only beef so far (which is something I can fix myself), is that some tabs I had saved as GP5 files have some new track volume balancing issues where dynamics (or vibrato turned into whammy bar shenanigans) have become extremely exaggerated in GP8. The tabs played fine in GP5 some now have new whacky artifacts in GP8. Still 5/5 because this I can fix the tabs and resave the worst offending tabs.

Absolutely fantastic software. I use it primarily for practice, and have been using it across windows and Mac machines. Honestly, I love it.
Only request would be a “prevent sleep” option for osx.

It’s fantastic and relatively intuitive. Plenty of support if you find yourself getting stuck.
I personally use it as part of my song writing process as well as when learning new songs.
Works well if you’re exporting midis to DAWs, too!
