wish i had found this software sooner. great program for learning guitar with the ability to download guitar pro songs and edit and reduce or increase audio tracks, slow the song so can learn the track and play over the song with full backing.
Great. Many thanks.

This is a great app for transcribing, but not that easy to use at first. You need to watch a tutorial video and practice using it.
i purchased a yearly subscription
It allows you to access transcription of hundreds of songs but unfortunately you only get some songs and exercise tabs( which are useful) however if you want any more transcriptions of song you need to buy credits for each one.
This is a disappointment as it was advertised that by subscribing to it and paying a yearly fee customers get access to loads of transcriptions.
due to its difficultly in using it and additional cost on top of yearly fee i have score this 3 out of 5.

Guitar pro is a fantastic software.
I just wish there was an automatic conversion of PDF files to Guitar pro files.
Other than that, I definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys playing the guitar and even other instruments due to the fact one gets to play the notes along and learn tempo and notes. Tabs format and the guitar neck view are a great idea as well, I could go on and on, this is a well invested money.

In a world of AI we can make guitar and other instrument samples sound better this company charges big bucks for the product and I believe they can afford to update . I want composition of songs to be easier and that what I bought this software for but the interface is not very good or use friendly

If you are a guitarist so you know this is your best friend.
I recommend upgrading to 8 to everyone who didn't yet.
Putting backing track audio file on the tabs is so joyful.
I happily pay for 9th version if it includes AI generated drum and base for guitar tabs.
It doesn't need to be perfect as everyone knows how weird would be results ( I am thinking about Spark app from Positive Grid when I righting these).
Some special edit functions like copy pasting from a string to another would be also sweet ( when you write something for 2 hours and then you find out that you write on wrong string)
A forum or a server for uploading your saved tone or pedalboard setting to others would be nice.

I've used Finale for many years, and while I continue to use it, Guitar Pro is faster and easier to write guitar specific music. Some of the nuances of guitar playing are time consuming and confusing to write in Finale, whereas Guitar Pro is much more user friendly in that area.
My only complaint so far is formatting the page layout how I like it. Finale has a lot of control in that area that I've grown accustomed to. But, hey, I'm still new to Guitar Pro, and have a lot to learn. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

Now that Finale went Kaput, I needed something to do notation and notes for my students. GP8 does it all very well, and its notation/tab/slash windows are very useful.
It is optimized for string instruments, better for these uses than the regular notation programs.
It can still be used for regular notation projects for other instruments, and the TAB can be easily hidden.

Great program to use for practice and composition

Great software for guitar tabs and music notation. Really easy to learn. The only thing I have found hard to do is to ad song texts to the music. That should be made easier I think. But overall a great app!

Guitar Pro makes it easy to write music for guitar and banjo. I use Guitar Pro to write down ideas for blues solos, to make copies of sheet music, to create new songs, and to send songs to others. It is intuitive and quick to learn. I am very pleased with Guitar Pro.

i find more songs on tab pro biggest let down
is the lack of songs from the 70's 80's 90's

Bit disappointed with it to be honest. I already have an Ultimate Guitar subscription so my songbook is kind of a useless tool as you also need to activate and pay for a subscription. Ultimate Guitar also has a lot more songs available. The transpose tools are decent and something I will fiddle around with and mostly use it for.

I'm a fingerstyle guitarist and I use the app for arranging existing music and composing new music. For my purposes, it works great. It's fairly intuitive and easy to use. Haven't had any technical issues w/ the software and haven't found any "missing" functionality, i.e., tasks I wanted to perform but were not available. I would not consider myself a heavy duty user of the software and it has tons of functionality I can't speak to because I haven't used it but overall I'm very happy with my experience with it.

I'm an old time user since GP4.
I like GP8 for the sounds, interface and tools. It definitely feels pretty close to professional writing software, for a lot less money, and it's great for tabing guitars.
I'm not entirely sure however how it's different from GP7.
Points to improve:
The ability to:
Create a page format custom default (i.e. 4 bars per line) that is consistent on every new project
The volume control on the mixer tracks is super sticky for some reason, and hard to adjust.
It would be useful to see the section markers on the map.
I miss the old copy paste options ( ref GP5)
When exporting midi and importing back in a daw, there's minute tempo variations in the decimal.( ie 120 turns out to be 120.412 or something)
I could use more keyboard shortcuts, especially for writing drums, keyboard input notes. If somehow i missed those, please disregard.
I'm being though, you guys put out a great product, and I will keep using it.
Cheers!

I find this app to be very useful. I generally use it to transfer sheet music for songs I am working on. Being able to change tempo and set up repeat cycles is very helpful. Also, it helps to hear what a section of a song is supposed to sound like (if you don't have a recording). I really appreciate the ability to set up two voicings and the added ability to use grouped tuplets. It is also fairly easy to find the functions you need to create the sound file. Price for value seems very fair to me.

Guitar pro is Great! I use it to read tabs that I download and play along to them. I love that you can change the tempo and can count in before it starts playing the tab so you do not have to rush to get the guitar positioned as soon as you hit play.

I'm just a beginner but I found guitar pro easy to use and intuitive, even though I had never used this or similar software in the past.

I used iReal Pro for many years to quickly prepare chord change charts for songwriting, musical studies, and live performances. After researching other tools to incorporate melodies and lyrics with chord changes, I purchased GuitarPro 8 about a month ago.
Many tools I researched appeared more complex and expensive than my current needs. As a professional musician for over 50 years, including guitar and bass, keyboards, and percussion, I thought Guitar Pro 8 could serve my immediate needs at a very reasonable price...Guitar Pro 8 has infinitely exceeded my original expectations.
I understood Guitar Pro 8 could be used to manually add notation and import MIDI and audio files for preparing written transcriptions, but did not know it also has many digital audio workstation (DAW) MIDI and audio output capabilities (no real time recording). Guitar Pro 8 includes a guitar-based scoring interface, instrument samples, FX pedalboard chains, MIDI implementation, and advanced mixing and mastering capabilities to prepare written and audio music output at a very professional level.
My first two scores of songs, prepared using audio tracks from a previously recorded album, used Guitar Pro 8 instrument samples that I configured to sound amazingly close to the original four piece band recordings...with sounds that actually enhanced the original audio tracks when blended in the final mix!
Complex music production tools usually require extensive learning curves, but I quickly adapted to the Guitar Pro 8 interface. I reduced my learning curve by preparing a sequential listing of Guitar Pro 8 key commands in menu option order, and was soon adding notes, bends, vibrato, slides, and other guitar techniques to my tracks along with accurate sounding bass and drum kit tracks. I was also able to import already existing MIDI files, add lyrics that accurately follow melody line tracks, and incorporate repeats, alternate endings and codas that completely matched recordings never previously transcribed!
My guitar background and experience with several DAWs helped me to quickly adapt to the Guitar Pro 8 interface, but it is also an excellent learning tool for any guitarist level. To fully use Guitar Pro 8 capabilities, users need a reasonably good understanding of guitar and music theory (musicians without guitar experience will initially have difficulties writing and editing scores). Fortunately a Guitar Pro 8 purchase also includes an informative guitar method ebook to help beginners to pros improve their guitar knowledge and music skills. Many guitar educators already use Guitar Pro 8, and there are extensive learning resources on the internet to help developing guitarists at all levels. Lastly a My SongBook subscription includes countless Guitar Pro 8 transcriptions of popular songs and exercises from all genres available for downloading, study, and live performance preparation.
Do not hesitate if you want to improve your guitar technique, enhance your creative musical skills, and share advanced written music and audio demo scores of your music! Purchase Guitar Pro 8 and start now!!

Note input method is tiresome. They must add click to add notes feature like musescore

Found it easy to use when entering tabs, or conventional musical notation with a wealth of notation for effects etc.
Vocal sounds would be useful when entering vocal melody lines.
Linking notes should allow linking of different pitches - useful for vocal melody lines where the voice moves seamlessly between one note and one with a different pitch.
When bars on a line are less then the specified number, spread across the page and are too spread out - so, for example, 2 bars on a final line when 4 bars per line will spread across the the line and occupy the space of 4 bars. This can occur both before a forced line break and at the end of the score.
