I don't always have the best experience in-store....it really depends on the location and who is working that day. However, I purchase all my gear from a GC Pro rep and have had great results. You just have to make sure the in-store rep knows where your order is!

The associate was very helpful in finding me a product that they may only have online. The service to checkout was quick and I got
Everything I needed for my bass guitar.

I ordered a ditto looper almost a year ago which was on back order. I have made many calls over the past year only to have the dates for arrival get extended repeatedly. The last time I called the rep blamed it on ditto saying that they were in charge of back orders but at the time you were selling them online that were not back ordered but at a higher price. I have bought other items online from you and I found them to be very satisfactory in price and quality but in this instance I felt slighted. Anyway I was finally able to let it go but reviewing last year’s elfster list reminded me. I won’t hold you to your obligation but I’m not the type to forget all the BS given to me by your reps and I would caution everyone not to buy something that is on back order status.

So, I purchased a NEW Kurzweil k-2700 and have been waiting for it for several weeks. I got an email today saying it has arrived. I got very excited and looked forward to getting it home and hooking it up. After unboxing the NEW keyboard, I was shocked to see tape on it saying’”spare, return me!, ribbon controller does not work, and do not use. Obviously it isn’t new and had issues and had been sent back either for repairs or not. I didn’t plug it in and check. I was so pissed. Between the lack of communication from the sales team, to the now obvious “trying to pass a used refurbishment k-2700 off as new. I now have to return it.
After talking to the guy we bought it from, it now appears I’ll have to wait even more time to receive a NEW keyboard opposed to a refurbished one. Way to try and pull a fast one Guitar center. After this is fixed and I get my NEW keyboard, I’ll never walk in to or purchase anything from guitar center again.

I was misled, pressured, and then told to leave the store in front of my 3-year-old.
I asked for a beginner drum kit in the $400–$500 range. The salesperson told me nothing existed in that price range unless I was willing to spend nearly $1,000. I stepped aside, checked the Guitar Center website, and found the exact product I was looking for in a matter of minutes.
When I returned and showed him the listing, he changed his story, said the store didn’t have it, and began insisting that he needed to order it so he could get the commission. After being misled once, I told him I would order it myself. He didn’t like that and pushed again. When I refused, he became hostile and told me to leave the store.
This happened while I had my 3-year-old standing with me.
This was an unprofessional and unacceptable situation, and it reflects extremely poorly on the store’s management and oversight.

Failure of a core competency...online order on Dec. 5th.
NO communication, meanwhile a private seller in Tuscon has delivered a larger item ordered the same day in December.
Address your problem while you still have a business, 2026 is upon us.
I do not want to witness your failure.

I normally shop with Sweetwater, an incredible company with amazing customer service, but the item I needed was out of stock and I was on a tight deadline. So I decided to order from Guitar Center’s website instead. Big mistake.
Within a few hours of ordering, I asked customer service if it was possible to switch my order from delivery to store pickup after noticing the item was now in stock at my local shop. I knew this might not be possible, but it never hurts to ask. They told me yes, and that the way to do this was to cancel my original order and place a new pickup order. That process went smoothly: I received a cancellation confirmation email, and I picked up the item at the store without any issues.
Then, four days later, I received an abrupt cold email, without a single apology, informing me that the cancelled order was shipping anyway, they cannot intercept it, they have no tracking record, and to return it or have them manually charge me if I wanted to keep it, which felt tone deaf considering the situation was entirely caused by their mistake and I cancelled the order for a reason. There was no attempt to be apologetic or accommodating with the return process but they didn’t miss a chance to turn their error into an extra sale.
This was such a disappointing experience compared to what I’m used to with their competitor. I don’t feel entitled to keep an item sent by mistake, nor do I want to… even if the FTC says I can keep it. I also don’t believe a customer should be held responsible for a company’s operational failure. Be honest upfront if something can’t be cancelled, have reliable processes in place, and when things do go wrong, offer to have the shipping carrier pick up the item at no hassle or cost to the customer. It was astonishing how many excuses I received for them to avoid sending the carrier to pick up the package (too large for my vehicle) and return it. The moment I brought up the FTC law (keeping unordered merchandise,) pickup was scheduled. Lesson learned. I’ll stick to Sweetwater.

I am so disappointed in Guitar Center. I would never buy another guitar from them. I purchased an expensive used guitar on line and talked with a salesman at the store who assured me the guitar was in excellent condition and that it came with a case. They shipped this expensive guitar across the united State in bubble wrap . NO CASE

Went to Guitar Center in Plymouth Meeting, PA yesterday to buy my son a new guitar. I know nothing about guitars but the GC employee Jay was super patient and extremely helpful. He answered all of our questions and provided helpful suggestions, tips, etc. Awesome experience.

It doesn’t matter which Guitar Center I go to in Las Vegas I get all the help I need. All the employees are super helpful. They need to update their computers for more efficiency. The employees there are overworked and underpaid I’m sure. I’ve purchased three different acoustic guitars brought them home and realized after three days of playing that they were not the Guitar for me. The first was a parlor size….. the second was a a concert size…. All this to realize that I have to have a dreadnought for power volume punch Finger picking blues and hardcore strumming: finally landed on the affordable Martin D10e. I love Guitar Center! It can be a circus for sure with the entire city beating drums, electric and acoustic guitars. But where else can you have so much freedom to do this?

I am a current (maybe formal) customer that has been doing business with this company for a long time. I am also a card holder. Every time I make a big purchase with this company there is ALWAYS an issue. I purchased a distressor compressor in 2021 that was malfunctioned ($1500.00 plus) and had to send back to replace. Now I have purchased the nueman u87ai ($4000.00 plus) and this company is saying that it has to be verified (which has already been completed) before I get my product. I have place the order on Nov 18th and it is now Nov 22nd and I still dont have my product and the status still says pending however I HAVE BEEN CHARGED THE MONEY. This is the worse customer service that I have received and it seems as though it always happens on big financial purchases. The agent stated that she didnt even know how to contact the “Verification “. I am so dissatisfied with this situation and moving forward I will NOT be doing business with this company.

It’s crazy how I can place an order for a product that’s in store and not be able to go grab it within the hour. I missed a big important gig tonight because I needed the guitar as soon as possible. And I didn’t have my physical card on me to cancel the order. You need to be able to bypass something that pushes the payment through when ordered so the can receive the order at the store and have the product ready to go within at least an hour

I ordered a guitar amp (Bugera V22) from their used selection of gear. Shipped to me in 2 days with no issues and the description of Good Condition was actually EXCELLENT condition and I am so satisfied! I saved 50 percent and got the exact piece of gear I was looking for. What else can you ask for? Thank you so much GC!

I love the used Gallien-Krueger guitar amp I purchased from Guitar Center in 2025. Folks at Guitar Center have always treated me great. And I've gotten good deals on products over the years since I was introduced to guitar by a band that worked for in 1984.

Musicians are the friendliest people. I purchased a guitar and opened a Gear Card account a few months back, I received a Gear Card Rewards card for $120, and bought a Soundbrenner Pulse wrist wearable metronome. All set. Thank you GC!

Placed an online order on Sunday, November 16 at 1:30 PM. Website advertises two hours to fulfill order. Order was not fulfilled on Sunday. Called at noon on Monday, November 17. Was told that their operations manager was at lunch and to call back in 45 minutes. Went to the store roughly 45 minutes after placing the call. Was told by an employee that I still needed to wait. I asked for the manager, and it turns out he was the manager. I questioned why he couldn’t take down my ID and order information and process it himself. Five minutes later, he processed it himself, and lectured me against ordering online, because it was “easier to do it in the store.“ I am unsure why it took me going Karen on the manager for him to take care of a task that he clearly could have done himself. I will not be ordering from the store again.

Placing a few orders over the phone in the last two weeks has been an easy and abundantly friendly experience. Working with the sales manager, Blake, and sales persons Lou and Andrew was efficient and every item got processed down to the smallest detail with professionalism and a “cool factor” extraordinaire !
Blake also told me that, as my being a veteran came up as we talked, I’m eligible for a 10 percent discount on everything that I’ve ordered in the last 45 days that was not on sale for the same percentage or more. He went through all recent purchases and was able to get me about $75 back. Thank you Sir! 🫡
Very well done at every stage of each purchase, with more to come for Christmas. Top quality service in all aspects !! 👍👍
