Visited Gulliver's near Warrington

Visited Gulliver's near Warrington. Brilliant family day out with lots of clean toilets, refreshment booths and fun rides. HOWEVER there were also lots of neglected areas in the park and rides that were not open. Everywhere needed a good scrub and a lick of paint. It appears that no money has been spent on updating the place. It was very busy but I am giving 5 stars to the mainly young staff who were always pleasant, helpful and professional.

AWFUL

We checked in, walked to our cabin, it was JCB, not the beach one we booked. Filthy, metal floor ripped/damaged and sharp pointy bits sticking up, marks and bogeys on walls, the smoke detector was broken, wall by the door damaged, walls covered in mould, under sink covered in dirt, bathroom covered in mould, shower head rusted, toilet roll holder had sticky/dirty substance on and fell off, dirt/dust over floors, curtain was damaged, black blankets on the beds were filthy, tv remote missing battery cover, a bin outside cabin had rubbish pouring out on the floor, cello-tape stuck on wall in outdoor area, wooden table was broken and spiky vines over growing into the area too, the whole cabin was not clean/safe for my children. Specifically booked beach den as the beach is our daughters favourite place, we wanted her to wake up on her first birthday somewhere special, however, we got to wake up in a filthy and unsafe JCB cabin which upon check in, no one told us we had been moved, we complained and got told someone had booked beach den on booking.com (I booked on Gulliver’s actual site), so they were overbooked and just upgraded us to a slightly bigger room. We were offered an accessible Wild West lodge but it looked like any old cabin, nothing special for a girl celebrating her birthday, it still wasn’t what we booked. Was eventually agreed that we would be given a refund and a gift for my daughter from gift shop, we accepted because it was getting late, everyone was tired. No where to get any breakfast on site, had to leave park to get breakfast. Went to Dino & Farm park, awful, lots of enclosures in the reptile house/farm part empty, no shops for drink or food open, foliage was overgrown covering dinosaurs, most dinosaurs were broken/not working, water ride smelt awful from mucky water, all staff members apart from one were grumpy, left after an hour. My partner went to get manager who said to find him in the morning to get our daughters gift from the shop, the manager was saying he never said he would do that and instead said “No I was trying to get something sorted out for her last night but you seemed more bothered about a refund” (We spent more time asking if they could do something special for her or give us a more girly accommodation since it was her special day). He then said “I couldn’t get anything sorted last night so nothing is in place”. I reminded him about the state of the JCB cabin and he said “If you would of told me last night, I could have done something like sent the cleaner in”, a cleaner can not fix damaged things or clean off mould and my partner had told him the night before that we weren’t happy with the JCB cabin. Then went to Gulliver’s park, the rides were good, some a little tired, but overall my kids enjoyed the rides. A fair few things were not good, soft play area was filthy, dirt/dust on floor, mould covered fire door, poo/dirt smeared in ball pit with tissues and trio hazard floor, toilets filthy, rust/dirt over floor & tiles falling off wall. All but 3 staff were grumpy, had several staff telling us about being understaffed and told they had to stand out in the sun all day with no break because of that, so they said “I can’t be f word bothered, if they make me stand out here with no break, I’m f word walking out” in front of kids. A few rides were closed and a real lack of places to get drinks/food, options were ice-cream, chicken nuggets, chips or burgers. Got 2 burger meals, the lettuce in them was brown/wilted, tried to return them for something else or a refund, told no. Left the park, we’ve stayed at and visited a lot of Theme Parks, this is the worst.

Unfortunately 1star is being generous.

Unfortunately 1star is being generous. We booked the princess room for an overnight stay at Matlock Bath.
Terrible, disgusting, dirty and disorganised.
Rooms are converted containers stacked on top of each other! Tired, very strong smell of wet damp& urine, no mattress protector or pillow protectors, stained dirty damp carpets, pictures hanging off the walls, sodden filthy faux grass on balcony, dirty windows, cheap furnishings and beds. Some staff were great, others clearly couldn’t care less. We didn’t receive our breakfast, staff didn’t know anything we asked. Just a bad experience from start to finish. How this place remains open is a mystery to me, health and safety need to take a look!
Very disappointed with the hotel. Park itself was ok.

Children loved it.

Went with 3 children, two aged 10 and one 7. My view is it needs quite a bit of money spending on it and it looked very tired in places, but it's not for adults it's for children. They all loved it, spent over 7 hours there, wasn't massive queues (May 22) food was good (Burgers, chips) lots of choice, all the staff we came across where very helpful, lots of parking so overall a great day out.

Good, nostalgic day out but needs updating

Good day out for children of all ages, plenty of rides to choose from and all of them fun even for the adults. Good food selections, and a beautiful park to walk around. The pirates that walk around are also very interactive with the children.
However, not one thing seems to have been updated in the last 30 years. It looks exactly the same as when I'd go 20 years ago. Parts of the park are very run down and could do with a lick of paint or a refurb. We went on the wooden roller coaster and the seat belt snapped when putting it on, leant against a fence and part of it fell down. Some staff members look absolutely miserable (but the older gentleman on the dinosaur train was a delight!). Wait times can also take a long time but that's to be expected.
Would love for it to be open longer so you can go on everything, but will still return with my son whenever possible.

Great for younger children

We take our little ones to Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock quite often, the price is reasonable and the queues always go down quickly. The staff are always lovely too. Would recommend to anyone with younger children.

Sad & tired...visit elsewhere!!

Today we visited Gullivers Land and wish we hadn't.
The park has seen better days and tbh the rides are not much better than a travelling fair.
The wait and queue time for food was beyond ridiculous. The staff are either new or badly trained, this also includes the drink kiosks and cafes.
We had children aged from 7 months to 14 years and the majority of the rides were abysmal...The Mine Train with target shooting was dire as was the mouse.
If visiting we recommend you take your own food and drink or save the money and visit a different theme park.

Avoid & spend a little more money to visit the bigger theme parks.

Really disappointing & won't be returning. The park is very old, tired & badly in need of some maintenance. The height restrictions published on the website are misleading and extremely arbitrary. If going with children under 160cm (I know - even I am yet to reach 160cm at the grand age of 44!), then make sure you have a child:adult ratio of 1:1 otherwise, you won't be able to ride at the same time. There were very few rides we could actually go on for this reason. We were allowed on the pretty fast water rapids, but had to argue our way onto the gentle boat ride. Bizarre rules & never had this problem in any of the many other theme parks we've visited. Food was slow to arrive & pretty grim. Staff were all brand new & clearly poorly trained. I've contacted the head office for a refund and not even a courtesy call back as yet.

Great experience!

Great experience! We spent Friday night in the Warrington hotel and Saturday in the park for the kids birthday's. They loved every minute of it. The staff were all absolutely brilliant, they were really friendly and worked incredibly hard to entertain the kids. They are all a credit to the company and should be very proud of themselves. Thank you so much! Mark, Lucy, Rory & Mason.

Its was ok. Very tired but wouldn't want to come when it was busy as there is no urgency to get the queues down. Out of season visit I think but expecting alot to be closed.

Had a good day here today

Had a good day here today, 2 staff stood out with their friendliness and enthusiasm, Jane from "the lost world" and the young man who was working on the temple ride. Its a shame the aeroplane ride was broken and the food/drinks were quite expensive but other than that, we all had a good day!🎢

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful. Waste of money!!!
Staff are awful at customer service.
Waited 35 minutes for a standard coffee from "Costa" which was just a standard coffee machine so why does it take 35 mins for 1 coffee?
Flying planes ride didn't fly and never told anyone that it was broke, we waited ages to go on something that didn't even work properly!
Theming needs re doing badly, everything is very old and tatty. Disorganised mess to be honest. Not for being harsh but this was NOT worth it for one second. Absolutely disappointed won't be coming again.
It's a shame because it has the potential to be such a lovely park for children however it's been run down majorly by lack of staff, broken/shut rides, one trains coming out with massive queues you at least need two trains running on a busy day! Someone needs to buy this park and make it so much better!

Christmas Experience

I paid nearly £76 to take my Grandson with my Son & Daughter, we have been several times in the past pre covid. Firstly, there was no way to keep a safe social distance while we queued almost 45 minutes waiting for the train to see Father Christmas. I had not been notified that we were not actually going to see Father Christmas, the train just stops and he talks through a mic, it was extremely difficult to understand what he was actually saying to be honest. For the price ALL rides should be open, not just a handful of them. The foot and drink prices are extortionate and the waiting times, well over 20 minutes for a coffee is just not acceptable as far as I am concerned. The whole place now looks extremely tatty, for the amount of money they make over the Christmas period alone this needs putting back into the park, fair enough it has been closed due to covid so have a lot of other places. I certainly wont be visiting again in the near future as I feel ripped off.

Food is important...

Well it's difficult to give top marks to a theme park in England on a pouring down rainy day in October but sadly we don't think this would have scored full marks in full sun.
This weekend is grandparents weekend so for three adults and a one year old cost £21. We thought we would give it a whirl rather than pay full normal price based in some of the reviews on here. We had a fun few hours despite the rain. Staff were nearly all quite young but smiling, pleasant and helpful to us. Parts of the park are dated but that is to be expected as parts of it are over 30 years old (the last time I went). But there are lots of newer small play areas for little ones. The landscaping needs attention and I presume closure and lack of income has effected this.

For us the major problem was the food outlets. This is what the website says about the one we chose.

DIAMOND LIL'S DELI
Western World
Enjoy a range of savoury snacks and healthy eating options at Diamond Lil's deli. Jacket Potatos, Sandwiches Sauage rolls and Cheese Pasties can be bought as part of a meal deal with snacks and drinks.

This does not reflect the place we found. Despite having five staff on duty the place was chaotic and by the time we had reached the front of the queue had cheese pasties, pizza and hot dogs left. No soft drinks and no blackcurrant fruitshoots "problem with the supplier".At 12.30pm there was certainly no sign of the healthy options promised or any meal deals. By 1.15 the place was half empty. We attempted to order but eventually got a refund and left. This was certainly a missed opportunity. I understand places like this need to cater to young person's needs (despite having no high chairs for young children) but pizzas at £10-11 and hot dogs at £5+ are not what I wish to feed my grandson.
This place desperately needs an infusion of money but to continue to operate it also needs to modernise and attract the right franchises or small businesses.
We may go again if there are some offers on but next time we will pack a picnic.....

Update
Just noticed lunch wasn't refunded to my bank so conned me out of £20.25. So be warned beware bypass this cafe.
I've deducted another star now.

False advertising

False advertising on a particular job roll, my partner went for an interview for front of house/reception. Well to you and me that means running the hotel, only to be told on arrival that the job is serving food, bar maid and cleaning hotel rooms and your shift is weekends again not advertised. If that's not False advertising I don't know what is, the lady conducting the interview was on her own behind the bar and said if someone comes in then I,l have to stop and serve them. You honestly couldn't make it up, you've wasted your time and ours. You really need to advertise the roll that it is and you may get someone interested or maybe not.

Please don’t waste your money DONT BOOK

I have sent 2 emails with no response!!!! Any ideas on who to complain to!

First of all I really don't know where to start, our visit was horrendous from start to finish, when we first arrived we were told the beauty and the beast show and afternoon tea we had paid for had been cancelled (the main reason we booked), I brought my 2 girls new belle dresses to change into for the occasion, I had lots of tears! Then the ride queues were over 40 mins long, as you can imagine children age 7 4 and 11 months have little patience! Not to mention the fact that I'm 6 months pregnant carrying twins.. also confused as to why I had to purchase a park ticket for myself when I'm clearly unable to go on any rides, the little play area I could have taken my 11 month old in was closed!!! Then we got to lunch time.. queue up for an hour for the burger and fries place.. again lots of Hungary tears from my little ones, the food was inedible.. over cooked chips dry cold burgers and chewy chicken nuggets.. a cost of £32.50 I didn't account for for the day as we had afternoon tea booked!!! Also I have to mention the whole food church place smelt what can only be described as faeces. The park was also very dirty and run down in lots of areas. Its such a shame as it was a real treat my children were looking forward to and we were all left disappointed and felt like the whole day was a waste of time and money.. safe to say we don't plan on returning.

Where is customer care and management ?

Where is the management? Booked the hotel for 1 night several months before our visit by phone. Specifically asked for a disabled friendly room. Promised a ground floor room with a walk in shower.
Tried numerous times to confirm by phone in the week before our visit but no answer except a prerecorded message saying impossible to leave a message as the box was full.
Upon arrival told we had been allocated a 1st floor room. We complained. The staff arranged for us to be given a ground floor room instead. However we discovered the room did not have a walk in shower . The shower was over a bath.
We complained again and I pointed out that this was of no use to me . I am disabled and cannot climb into a bath . As such I could not shower and would have to strip wash . I need to shower every morning. I was very disappointed and asked to speak to a manager .
Advised that no manager was available but my complaint would be passed on .
I never heard from a manager or anybody about my complaint or the issues generally.
Needless to say I felt dirty, grubby and smelly the next day.
After our visit I tried to ring again but the same problem as before.
I also sent my complaint on line via the feedback form and asked for compensation.
Yet again I have heard nothing.
It’s a real pity that customer care and management seems to be absent with this company as we enjoyed our visit and the children had a good time .
The room was otherwise nice. Breakfast was as advised. Dinner was ok. The park was clean and tidy . Food outlets were plentiful. Apart from a couple of the big rides the queues were manageable.
Such a pity and so disappointing........
