Communication very slow and lack of detail
Unfortunately, our experience with Hart Lettings was disappointing. Communication was extremely slow and often lacked the level of detail we would expect when dealing with something as important as renting a property.
We regularly had to chase for updates, and when communication was received, we felt that important information and details were not made clear or provided upfront. Had we been given the full picture from the beginning, our expectations would have been very different and a lot of unnecessary disappointment could have been avoided.
Overall, we found the process frustrating and felt that clearer, more transparent and timely communication would have made a significant difference to our experience.

Called them last Tuesday to book viewings , lots of phone calls to discuss my mortgage situation but no call back to arrange viewings. As a buyer I have gone to other estate agents in Newport but as a seller I would be very concerned about selling my property if they aren’t showing it to people who are interested in buying.
Serious Failings from Start to Finish
My experience with Haart fell significantly below the professional standard I expected when instructing an estate agent to sell my property.
From the outset, communication and support were poor. A “For Sale” board was arranged before photographs had been taken or the property details were available for potential buyers to view.
More seriously, the copy of the agency agreement provided to me contained extensive confidential and personal information belonging to entirely unrelated clients, rather than my own details. Haart subsequently confirmed that the agreement held on its internal system differed from the copy supplied to me, but was unable to establish how this had happened because there was reportedly no electronic or recorded trail.
The agreement I received also contained incomplete or unclear contractual information. I therefore submitted a formal complaint and requested immediate release from the 20-week sole-selling-rights agreement. Haart eventually agreed to terminate its appointment without penalty, allowing me to instruct another agent.
Although I appreciated the assistance of the Estate Agency Director who handled the complaint and brought the contractual matter to a conclusion, this should not have been necessary in the first place.
The final and most alarming failure came when I requested the return of the house key entrusted to Haart, only to be informed that it had been lost. Losing a client’s property key is a serious security matter and, combined with the mishandling of confidential information and contractual paperwork, demonstrates an unacceptable lack of care and document and key-control procedures.
This was not a single isolated mistake, but a succession of failures involving communication, contractual documentation, personal information and ultimately the security of my property. Based on my experience, I could not recommend this agency.
Hard work pays off
From start to finish everyone at Haart worked tirelessly to get my tenancy in place. Despite external companies delaying and not responding the whole team stayed positive and got me into my new home on time.
Could not recommend Haart more! Thank you to every single member of staff I spoke to or did work on my move

Bully and manipulative agency
Absolutely awful. Each time an issue is bought up it gets ignored. If however they have an issue they will call you and email you despite being told "do not call me" they will call and text you from multiple different 07 numbers. They have also broken the law multiple times and have sent letter requesting rent "we haven't paid" despite me having proof. Asking for explanations on this gets ignored. If you rent with this agency, expect to get bullied and manipulated so make sure you know your rights and know the law. Thankfully I know mine so each attempt at manipulation has been hit back from myself of proof of the law where then they suddenly become quiet. Do not ever go to these as they also lack communication and do not remind you of your rights. The fact they have broken the law means they are in big trouble if I now decide to pursue legal action.
Poor Communciation and Process
Very poor experience as a landlord- primarily with the Property Management Team. Clear instructions were not followed, communication was slow and inconsistent, and the handling of a straightforward deposit issue caused significant unnecessary delay and stress. Would not use again.
Think Twice Before Using This Agency
They say moving house is one of the most stressful experiences in life — and in my opinion, adding Newport Heart to the process multiplies that stress enormously.
At the start, when valuing the house and getting it on the market, they couldn’t do enough for me. Their sales pitch was smooth and convincing. But once I was officially on their books, things quickly went downhill.
Communication became virtually non-existent. Customer care felt like an afterthought. The escalation process was embarrassing and unhelpful, and several staff members came across as rude. The responses I received felt generic and dismissive, as though I wasn’t a valued customer at all.
From my experience, if you’re a buyer, they seem willing to bend over backwards for you — but as a seller, it felt like I was expected to bend over backwards for them. Overall, I found the service to be unprofessional and incredibly frustrating.
This is just my experience, but I would strongly suggest thinking carefully before choosing to use them

The worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with, zero communication, terrible complaints process - essentially, give us your money and go away.
Failed viewing appointment
Absolutely diabolical haart Estate And Lettings Agents Newport.
Organised a viewing to see a property in Bettws, Newport, and instead of honouring the request for 3:30pm, sent a text message claiming that the business had unable to reach the vendors.
You knew that they were away! I had spoken to a neighbour of the vendors who confirmed that they are away, and still, you do not make any effort to attend the property as required.
You give yourselves a bad reputation! As a buyer, I would not recommend using this company if they cannot be trusted to attend the showings at the requested time nor do they honour any scheduled appointments once they have offers made on the property. The immediate impression is to take the opportunity to gain traction on the commission they gain from selling the property rather than allowing any other potential viewer a chance to view.
My experience with Lauren Kierle
I have been renting a property out with Haart for 4 years. I was experiencing problems with my last let and finding it hard to get answers through lack of communication. Lauren Kierle took over my let, and what a difference, she is very professional and extremely efficient and understanding, the problem was sorted very quickly with her expertise. My re-let has gone very smoothly, Lauren has kept me informed with every step of the process, emails always answered promptly, Lauren will be an asset to Haart, and restored my confidence in this company.
I have had awful experience from Haart
I have had awful experience from Haart, Newport. Their communication has been very poor, I have even had to email the branch manager a very lengthy email and even that was ignored. I have very few viewings, maybe 5/6 in a 5 month period. My property is in a very sought after area and is newly refurbished and was told I wouldn’t have an issue selling ‘quickly’. I do not believe any effort was made in advertising my sale to potential clients whatsoever. Thankfully my contract has ended and I will be moving forward with a different estate agents. I would not recommend at all.

I've been using Haarts for some years now. They were very helpful when I put my property into their profile and organised everything. I have had issues with their service but recently they appointed a new manager, Sophie, who is very professional. My new contract has been handled by Skylouise in an efficient manner. I'm hoping that this pleasing progress will continue!

Stay away!
For the past 4 months, my partner and I have been trying to resolve a dispute with our landlord over damages that were already present in the rental property before we even viewed it. The entire process has been incredibly frustrating, draining both our time and energy.
We’ve contacted Haart numerous times, but either received no response or faced poor communication. My partner had to follow up repeatedly, and it often took far too long to get any acknowledgment or updates.
Sadly, this experience has made our time renting with them miserable. We also feel that Haart has taken advantage of us as a young couple, which is deeply upsetting.
On top of this, the dispute that we had with our previous landlord, Martyn. When we moved in, we were greeted by pre-existing damages, and despite having proof, we had to go through a legal process to recover our deposit. This feels like an intentional attempt to steal our deposit, knowing we were young and less likely to fight back. Based on our experience, I wouldn’t be surprised if this has happened to others as well.
Overall, we are extremely disappointed with both Haart and our previous landlord. This has been a very negative experience, and we would not recommend them.
