I have had my trust deed for 3 years now and never had any issues or reason to contact customer service until now. I found out I was pregnant and wasn’t sure how maternity leave would affect my trust deed. When I contacted Harper McDermott, Andrew was super helpful, answered any questions and reassured me of my options. Friendly and helpful, I cannot fault their customer service at all.

The team were excellent from the very first meeting I had with them. I was initially apprehensive because I felt a bit of shame that I'd built such a debt but they were great in explaining how to move forward and explained everything to me in plain English, the exact process involved and the terms of my trust deed. I was helped through the (very simple) process of sharing necessary documentation and then getting started with my payments. I was contacted by a creditor a few times during my trust deed and my trustee took care of it for me so the whole four years went by without any issue and I'm delighted to be debt free at this point. I've been supported in considering my next steps too. I would definitely recommend Harper McDermott and Trust Deed Scotland to help anyone worrying about debt. It's been a massive weight lifted off my shoulders.

Help is waiting for you!
I don't know what I would have done without the help of the DAS agreement, I was lucky to be eligible for. I could see no light at the end of the tunnel with the high debts I had, especially when I had to stop work due to severe ill health.
The DAS took care of all of my debt, allowing me to pay one affordable monthly payment over a suitable period of time, without having to write off any debts, become bankrupt or take a Trust Deed or IVA.
But the overall positive factor throughout this process was the amazing help and support that I received from our Money Advisor, Stevi Shaw, from Harper McDermott.
I really don't have the words to say that could possibly praise Stevi enough for everything she's done for me. She has always looked at me as a real human being, who had experienced an unfortunate situation and therefore, done everything to support me and be positive with me at all times.
I could ask her anything and she would help in every way possible, supporting me especially with my ill health when I needed extra help. She would go many extra miles to help me everytime I needed it.
Stevi was there at the end of an email at all times for me and I have never known anyone to reply to an email as promptly as she does...She is simply amazing and always treats you with kindness and respect.
In fact, she is still a source of support for me and I have now repaid my DAS.
Any help or advice I may need, she is still there for me and that is very rare in the society we live in today.
Stevi, you are a credit to yourself, your clients and to your employer. I can't praise you enough.
Thank you for everything and most importantly, for just being you, a very caring and understanding person.
We need more like you in this world.
If you need help, it's there for you and without any shame or guilt or embarrassment.
Please don't hesitate to pick up the phone and get yourself back on track with your money and life.
The help is waiting for you just like it was for me.

Through Trust deed Scotland my son signed a protected trust deed and his trust deed was given to the IP Thomas Fox of Harper McDermott in Glasgow to be managed. He failed miserably managing the trust deed and did not act appropriately when arrears continued to accrue. Instead he allowed my son’s ex partner to force the sale of the house so that he did not have to do any of the work he should have done himself, therefore allowing years worth of arrears to build up. Advice taken has told me his work was shoddy, he was lazy and he used every legal loophole he could to cover his tracks. Result - my son took his own life! Due to the complete mismanagement and failure to act as he should have the arrears were so high that my son, who was vulnerable due to his mental health and the constant bullying from his ex partner could not cope and he gave up on life. This protected trust deed failed to protect my son and also failed to protect his creditors as there was no money available for them due to the amount of arrears. Mr Fox could not care less and was only interested in closing the case. I am not done yet - I will get this nightmare fully exposed! I need to be my sons voice to protect others. This is not just a financial mess that my family have to deal with - my son is dead. If Mr Fox had done his job properly it would never have got to the stage it did and my son would be here with us today! Shame on you! My son took his own life in Oct 22. His trust deed should have finished in Nov 22 if it had been managed properly. The date I have entered was when Mr Fox completely dismissed my questions as he had closed the case. You have to select a date of experience within the last 12 months. I have read the other positive reviews of people who got the help they needed and I am very pleased that they did. However our experience is a complete nightmare that will haunt us for the rest of our lives and Mr Fox should be held to account. I was granted temp executor by the court and to this date Mr Fox has refused to show me the final accounts for my son, despite the solicitor from Harper McDermott (Calum) assuring me during a telephone conversation that I would be given a copy of the final accounts. This is because an ‘arrangement’ of which we were given no details was made with the expartner’s lawyer to pay some of his legal costs and in doing so they then refused to pay my son’s funeral expenses from anything left in his estate . He clearly does not want me to know how much they paid out to them. I will be involving my son’s creditors and informing them as to why they got no money. This is not just an angry, grieving mum here. I have spent the last 15 months asking questions and gathering the facts before writing this review and this is just the start. I will not rest until I get this nightmare exposed. Mr Fox of Harper McDermott and the solicitor from Harper McDermott, working alongside him failed miserably in their duty and it is so wrong that vulnerable people are at the mercy of these people. If this review prevents even one person from getting caught up with these people then it is worth it.
Have been dealing with multiple payments and debts for many tears, causing stress! Decided to look into a Trust Deed as a way of consolidating. Have dealt with Barry who has been fantastic. Friendly, extremely helpful and reassuring! He has put my mind at ease that going forward my worries about my debts will be much less.

I have just made my monthly phone call to Harper McDermott spoke with Andrew this morning who was extremely friendly and helpful as are all the staff who I have spoke with over this past year. From the first time I placed a call for advice spoke with Jacqueline who dealt with my case and went above and beyond to make my experience as easy as possible was even there out of office hours if I had any concerns or needed to discuss anything which gave me peace of mind. Would highly recommend Harper McDermott to anyone who are experiencing financial difficulty.

Firstly…I never intended to to rack up as much debt as I did. 4 x years I was paying £500 a month to Creditors and was lucky if I maybe got out for a beer once a month.
I was 33 at the time and had reached a point where I was asking myself what i value in life. Ultimately, that answer was “living”
I’m now 37 and debt free. For the last 4 years I’ve paid £160 towards debt (£7680 total) - I’m now £160 better off a month, however, probably the most satisfying aspect Is now, I know how to live a budget that suits me. By going Bankrupt, I’d argue you wouldn’t necessarily learn that lesson.
To recap, I cannot recommend the Trust Deed process enough. Any worries or anxiety I had, whoever I spoke to at Harper McDermott always sympathised and dealt with my call in a highly professional manner.
You may have that hellish month, where your money is just gone due to vehicle repairs etc. The Team at Harper McDermott will find you a solution.
In the next 2 years I hope to have a Deposit for a Mortgage…that was unimaginable 4 years ago
