I didn't want to give one star as they…
I didn't want to give one star as they don't deserve that!
I bought a Volvo V40 over 4 years ago from Leeds Harrats - I was basically sold a faulty new vehicle. I took the vehicle back to Wakefield Harrats when it started spitting black smoke out of the back and in short was told I would be able to get a like for like exchange. After over 6 months of trying to get a new vehicle (mine had been with them for months and rather strangely they couldn't tell me what was wrong with it ). Much wasted time later, I had no choice but to to gain legal advice. I was finally paid back for the car. Never again will I deal with such untrustworthy people. The customer services department were equally as obstructive and rude. AVOID!!
Harratts Wakefield
Harratts Wakefield. Urgent airbag safety recall. Receptionist very pleasant and helpful. Convenient appointment. Dropped car off and told it will be ready within the hour. Went for a coffee and within the hour received a text saying car was ready. Upon return to the dealer found car had been washed and vacuumed. Very happy with service received today. Thank you.
Be careful
I recently bought a Peugeot 207 from Darton, the service was brilliant and the sale went smoothly. However less than two weeks later the engine light went on. I rang up and was told to book in with local Peugeot dealer for diagnostics and they would pay. When I went to collect the car they were reluctant to release it as Harratts hadn't paid yet despite been contacted twice. It was thanks to having it in writing that they would pay that I was allowed to take the car. The diagnostics found a large oil leak from around the head gasket. A barely legal tyre. Play in the suspension. Harratts would not pay for this work doing. The car was returned and full refund given on Saturday morning about 10.30am. The car was back up for sale before 2pm with the same advert as when I bought it. No mention of work needed and they couldn't even be bothered to update the mileage information. I think this is disgusting. They can not have possibly done any of the work it needs and so are selling it knowing it needs work! Do not buy. Also when the car was returned the manager could not be bothered to even make an appearance. No apology given.
very good experience
very good experience . pleasant staff who have been very helpful in all aspects of the purchase .thanks Neil and crew
Infuriating experience
One of the most infuriating experiences in my life. Me and my partner saw a car we liked, paid cash and pretty much as soon as they had our money, the service became rude, uncaring and downright incompetent. The salesman double booked himself several times and asked me to come at a time which suited him more, with no word of apology and attempted to overcharge us of the initial £100 deposit we paid. We then had to drive to Wakefield on a Saturday to get a faulty part changed, arrived only to find that they didn’t have the part. Salesman then rang me to tell me it had been in his desk drawer all along. Again, no apology.
In the meantime the rear wiper scratched my window. I asked to speak to the manager in order to complain and was fobbed off every day until the next Saturday I was due to come down to get the part fitted. When the manager rang me he still didn’t apologise but said he would get the salesman to do so by email, I got the part fitted, the manager and two of the salesmen lied straight to my face and said that the scratch was always there. I was given half a tank of petrol as recompense for having to sort out their incompetence and having to drive over a hundred miles back and forth to do so.
I will be getting the car checked by a garage I trust whilst it is still within the three month warranty but am dreading it having issues.
Given the choice i can think of few things worse than having to go to that showroom again.
I have still not received an apology.
My sister bought a car in December

The dealership HARRATTS WAKEFIELD
The dealership : Harratts Renault wakefield, NEVER AGAIN!
I am writing to you to raise an issue about Volvo Dealership at Harratts Wakefield on October 31st, 2017.
(Taken Vehicle for a MOT) *What a mess*
When we collected the vehicle we found it was all ready open other words left open all night? and parked in strange way blocking other vehicles so went to pay for the mot and collect the keys the sales assistant (Kaley Brook) not very helpful and we found very arrogant and unfriendly after kept waiting and being look up and down we approach the vehicle and found the boot is a mess and the parcel shelf thrown in the boot and boot carpet and ceiling carpet ripped out and the boot interior light missing air freshers thrown on the floor dirty hand marks all over seats ceiling and plastic foot wells on the mot invoice it says exterior wash and foot well vacuum (nothing) and to be honest it worst then it was before we took it in and also no video of the mot being carried it the worst garage i ever been to !.
After a disaster at another Kia dealer …
After disastrous sales service at another Kia dealer I turned to Harratts Kia at Calder Park Wakefield,
What a total contrast in comparison - Sam was the customer sales executive who treat me with a respectful and courteous manner which I appreciated.
I had total confidence that I was not being misled and that the deal was "safe" with no arguing or sudden change in numbers as I had experienced before at the previous dealer.
Everything about buying the Kia Sportage from Harratts was excellent and if there was a slight hiccup (and only a minor hiccup) I contacted Sam and Glen and it was sorted out straight away.
I actually bought the car at the beginning of October, however I waited until today (Thursday 2nd November 2017) to write this review in case there were any problems which, apart from the little hiccup which was immediately sorted out by Sam, there wasn't anything to complain about.
I would recommend Harratts Kia Wakefield to anybody looking to buy a Kia car because you will get a safe, very fair deal together with respectful and courteous service.
Harratts Barnsley (Mitsubishi)
Harratts Barnsley (Mitsubishi)
Extremely helpful and professional.
Buying second hand cars can be a bit of a nightmare, but there cars were clean and of a good standard. Personally would have no reservation using them again.
Did everything they said they would,
Good initially but turned into a nightmare.
I recently changed my Kia for another on PCP. Everything went smoothly and again I was happy with the service given by Harrats Kia Wakefield. However a few weeks later I started receiving letters from Kia finance saying that I owed them money for the previous vehicle as they hadn't been paid the cheque for it. After numerous phone calls to Kia finance and the dealer I was getting conflicting information. The dealer said they had sent the cheque Kia finance said they hadn't. After threats of legal action against myself, numerous letters from the finance company, rude, belligerent, verbally threatening staff at Kia finance I have paid what they wanted this morning just to get some peace. Apparently when I called to make the payment I was told that the cheque for the outstanding payment on the previous vehicle had been sent last night and I would be refunded of any over payment. This has caused endless upset and worry and to top it off I was informed that I had been charged a late payment plus my credit rating would be affected. Thanks Harrats Kia Wakefield! Great car but you've lost yourself a customer!.
I bought a used Renault Scenic from …
I bought a used Renault Scenic from Harratts Wakefield in April 2017. Picked up the vehicle on Saturday and had to return it the following Tuesday as Sat Nav and audio equipment not working - this turned out to be a blown fuse. I subsequently noticed the rear window did not seem to be fitted correctly - I hadn't spotted this before buying the car and the salesman (Chris Fowler) said he hadn't notice anything wrong with it. I booked the car in with their service/repair team and they confirmed the rear window was not fitted correctly - it was subsequently replaced. A short while later while cleaning the car I noticed that in the spare wheel well there was a lot of broken glass - i'm guessing this had come from a previously broken rear window at some point and the replacement was the one that hadn't been fitted correctly. I mentioned this to the salesman but he wasn't interested - well at least he didn't respond!! However I was disappointed that this had clearly not been cleaned/checked before the car was sold. When I bought the vehicle I wasn't given a new keepers slip -V5C/2. I asked the salesman about this when I had waited about 6 weeks for the log book (V5C) and it still hadn't arrived. He said that was dealt with by their admin people and there must have been an error by them. I had to pay £25 to DVLA to get a log book. Despite the salesman saying they would reimburse me the money this hasn't been received. He said he needed a receipt but DVLA didn't send a receipt. I told salesman this but have not heard anything from him since - so I guess I'm not getting reimbursed. I have to say the service/repair people have been very good and very professional. However as far as the salesman goes I think once the sale was completed that was it - not interested anymore. On their website they say that they offer "the highest standards of customer service and care" - well that's not my experience. Will not recommend or use them again.
Great customer service Wakefield
Just bought a new Honda from the Wakefield dealership. The service and deal was exceptional. Dealt with senior salesman Rob Stephenson who provided personal and attentive customer service. Could not fault them.
Harratts Volvo in Wakefield
Harratts Volvo in Wakefield took a refundable deposit, promised to return it in the event I didn't buy, then when questioned on email promised on email to return it and still haven't.
Do not give them a penny as you wont get it back
Totally misled
Totally misled. I enquired about a car online, I was then bombarded with phone calls saying they could meet my needs and match the part ex price I had agreed with another garage.
I was rushed through the paperwork and she only highlighted the monthly fee. Only later I realised she had given my £1500 less for the part ex. I can no longer get hold of the sales lady and won't respond to any of my emails.
Joke of a company with no customer care at all.
Zero stars
Currently sat with an unlockable car rendering my insurance void . Their answer it's got an immobiliser . This is a 50,000 xc90 less than a year old . They had my car for the day yesterday and supposedly fixed the lockable boot issue ! Joke ! Been waiting over 4 hours today for this car sorting again . I have been a customer of theirs for over 12 years . I will not be buying any more vehicles from them . Customer service , care and aftercare is rubbish .
ONE STAR TOO MUCH
It's a shame I cannot give no stars to this company.
I purchased a used car from them for over £6000 and I was told there was a 1 month warranty. When I went to collect the car It was not ready, it had not been touched and had a flat tyre. I was told this would be replaced. On finally collecting the car I was told the tyre had been checked with nothing found so it was just re- inflated. Tyres don't go down by themselves.
On arrival home I noticed a rear tyre was almost flat, have the front and rear tyres been swapped to deceive? ( by the way, the front tyre has not lost any pressure in 2 weeks of use)
I also discovered a couple of minor faults with the vehicle which would cost very little to rectify ( I have priced the cost of the parts to £55) but the salesman who sold me the car told me the warranty was not valid, I asked to speak with the manager, he was in a meeting but would phone me back, I was never contacted despite making several calls.
I am also still waiting for documentation, the log book and MOT etc I was told it would be posted, it has not yet arrived 2 weeks later, this has resulted in cancelling a week away as I cannot get a number plate for my caravan with out a log book so I cannot use it. ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY THEY DON'T CARE customer service is a joke.
Harratts Volvo - delay in returning funds on sale
Bought a used car from Harratts Volvo Wakefield, and part-ex resulted in funds being due to back to me.
It has been 3 weeks since the deal was signed, but despite numerous reminders, some promises to sort, and ignored emails, I still have not received either a cheque or a bank transfer. No excuse these days.
After the initial sale went well, and the car being nicely prepared, it is sad to see the total lack of after-sales, and the fact that they are withholding funds due to a customer. No doubt different if other way around.
If not resolved soon, I will be forced to pursue by other means.
Therefore, the two stars only reflect the sale in this case.
Harratts need to address matters such as this in order to encourage customers to return.....I will not !

Dishonest practises. Selling damage items and charging premium prices
I purchased a set of side sills for my ENV200 , when arrived after a load of confusion about postage it appeared that the box was open. Fixtures where missing which the courier later delivered. Items also had several dinks in
Contacted Harratts as you would and they blamed everyone but themselves , it's m fault, the couriers fault.......IT'S HARRATTS FAULT AS THEY POSTED A ITEM WITH INSUFFICENT PACKAGING AND EVEN LESS TAPE TO HOLD THE BOX TOGETHER
Would I participate in another transaction with Harratts......defiantly not. Absolutely no respect for the customers and looking at the feedback below it looks like its the norm. AVOID
Incompetent in just about every respect
My brand new car had 8 faults, not the dealer's fault and not that unexpected but it is their responsibility to resolve them in a professional manner.
On the first visit they fixed only one fault and said they needed the car back to sort out other issues. They could not find a rattle and then broke my mobile phone holder, which they denied.
The service team were rude to my wife. The service manager tried to re-assure me that things would be resolved and that he'd get to the bottom of the mobile phone holder. He never did.
On the second visit they the fixed one fault and rang me to advise the car was ready.
I queried what they'd done. They explained that they were unable to find a rattle and had not tried to sort out the steering wheel alignment because they did not have the in house ability.
Not all the problems on the list had been resolved when I picked the car up but the steering wheel alignment I'd reminded them about over the phone had been - they'd suddenly found the ability to re-align the steering wheel.
The told me that they'd have to have the car in again but that could not find the rattle.
The rattle manifested itself immediately as I drove the car away. I phoned them and they asked if I wanted to take the technician for run to show them where the rattle was.
I tried to book my car in again 3 times over the phone over 3 days but their service team never rang me back. On the 4th attempt I manage to get the car booked in for them to address 3 of the remaining problems.
On the final visit their I took their technician out or a run and suddenly, they were able to hear the rattle and assured me it would be resolved.
.
HOWEVER, they did not want to fix the parking sensor fault because "Nissan would not pay them as it was a known defect". I left the car with them. At 2.20pm they rang me to tell me the car was ready but the rattle was not fixed as "they'd run out of time".
They wanted the car back yet again to "have another go".
By this time I'd had enough and decided to take the car elsewhere.
What a shower, this business does not deserve its customers!
