Terrible service. We rented a car for six months. Got it regularly serviced. Took good care of it. Returned it in excellent condition. We were never told of any issues at handover - just a thumbs up.... See more

Drew @ HelloCars has made the whole…

Drew @ HelloCars has made the whole process really easy and simple. The car was delivered free of charge and the service was great.

Upon retuning the car - the process again, was very simple and easy. I would not hesitate to use HelloCars again in the future.

AVOID!!

AVOID!!! completed online application and got approval and signed a contract to rent a vehicle and paid $1000 deposit.
Subsequently contacted by the admin staff several days later and told that further documents were needed to approve the rental 3 months of bank statements. proof of address and 3 payslips. these documents were reluctantly provided. ( despite no mention of this being required before I payed a $1000 deposit ) They said some BS about further checks being needed due to covid19.
Subsequently contacted saying that I would need to pay an additional $1500 security deposit in order to proceed with the rental.

Refused to pay this and am currently demanding a refund of my $1000 security deposit. Very Misleading and I would urge caution in using their services.

FAULTY CARS (broke down day 1)

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE - DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!! Took out a subscription in the afternoon yesterday, drove the car home. Tried to start the car to go to work in the morning and it doesn't start. Called road side assistance who came out to check the battery and it wasn't a battery issue. Then waited a few more hours, missed out on a lot of work in the morning whilst I had to wait for the tow truck. Car is towed and they haven't provided me with a solution of a replacement... just "waiting to hear". I needed the car specifically today and more importantly tomorrow as I go away fro the weekend. Decided I would just go buy a car but they WON'T CANCEL. So now I am stuck paying for 4 months and at it seems at the moment... without a car.

Scam

Scam. Don’t sign that agreement - you’re signing your life away. Don’t make the same mistake I did, these guys need to be put out of business.
I knew I should never have gone to these guys because of the abysmal reviews I read. But I desperately wanted to believe in them so I went against my gut….huge mistake.
I got to the "office" (which is an unmanned chair in a graphic designer’s office….) and a guy called James (who has no idea about cars) brought the car round from some elusive "yard". The car stank of cigarettes and had cigarette ash on the back seat. James had the audacity to say it was because of the NSW fires and refused to do anything about it 😂 In the end, he drove the car back to the “yard” where I believe he’d be cleaning the upholstery, only he returned the car as dirty as before and actually admitted to me they had just ran freshener through the vents. I actually admired the balls on this con artist. When I asked where they had bought the car from he replied, “we have our ways.” What the actual f does that mean? SO DODGY. He also said the car had just been "detailed" (I have photos of the vehicle if anybody wants to see them, you can see for yourself this is a lie). I’m no stranger to detailing, I’ve detailed a 2018 Navara and a 2016 Golf - this car hadn’t even been vacuumed. I think because I’m a young white girl he thought I was actually stupid enough to believe his lies.
I said I wasn't happy and James said it would be $350 to give it back and that they didn't have another car to swap it with. Hilariously, at that very moment the website said there was another car - a Mondeo - readily available to drive away if I wanted it…more lies.
I decided I didn’t want to give him $350 for nothing so I took the car anyway and as I was driving away discovered that the (only) USB port didn’t work. It was a 2012 Kia so there was no built in sat-nav or anything, so I needed it to keep my phone charged while I use my phone maps. They sent some woman to check the port, she agreed it didn’t work, and said I would have to drive back another time when the mechanics were ready to see me, with fuel at my own expense.
I’d had the car home for 2 days (never heard from the “mechanic”) and it started giving off a foul smell like something had died inside of it. I checked all the vents and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from, so I decided I’d had enough and called James to arrange for me to drop it back and pay the cancellation fee. James said it would now be 350$ cancellation plus 400$ early return fee! Despite the evidence the car was endlessly faulty! I didn’t even dispute this as I realised then that these guys were going to do whatever the f they wanted to me.
And the final straw…instead of invoicing me the fees, they just took $750 out of my account, and sent me an email 2 hours later letting me know they had done so. Yes that’s right, they literally stole money out of my account without permission which I know is illegal…except it’s not, because you agree to it in the contract, so don’t F sign it.

Very very disappointed purchased…

Very very disappointed purchased experience! If you want to buy cars from Hellocars, just be care the bad car quality and service they offer!

1. Very aggressive business model to customer. They posed information on Cars ales, when you entering enquiry in app, they started calling you and persuading you make 500 dollars deposits to secure the car for you. Just be careful, after you paying 500 dollars, you need to pay the full amount of the car before you test drive! You got 3 days to decide whether to buy the car, if you don’t want to buy the car, they will find many excuses to refuse you get the money back! Such as: manager is not at the office right now. They just want to waiting end of the ‘3 days money back guarantee’, and you can not get the money back!

2. Bad quality cars and very very bad after sale service. I purchased a 2013 and 61000km BMW X1 from Hellocars, I am not professional about mechanics, the car shows no problems within 3 days. I am a interstate buyer, before I registered the car, I need to do a new car inspection which authorizes by local government. The car report said that there were 3 problems of the car: engine oil leak, bad brakes pad, bad right hand side tyre. I contacted Hellocars, because they offer 3 months standard warranty. Unfortunately, nightmares began! The guys in Hellocars are born for sales, they don’t let you talk with the right person. At first, they let me email warranty department, I waited for two days and no reply. I called customer service again, they said manager is not at office, and they will call back as soon as possible when manager back. Waited for one more day, still no call back. I contacted customer service again, they gave me a number to the ‘right person’ , and let me send the car to local Repco to have a look. Repco told me the problems of the car was really existed, but Hellocars was not allowed Repco to fix anything! I am so disappointed of the service Hellocars offers! I called Hellocars again, told them must solve the problems for me! Finally they agreed to cover the engine oil leak problem by warranty, but excluded brake pads and right hand side tyre. They are very hard to deal with and I was very tired, don’t want to waste time with them.

3. Car broken down twice in 45 days! After one month later, the engine light turned red again, it means some problems with the engine again! I email warranty department, still no reply for two days, I called warranty department and no one answered the call. The voice mail of phone said warranty department already closed, any urgent please call the customer service number. It’s a dead cycle, when you call customer service again, they don’t let you talk to the right person, always said manager wasn’t at office, manager was at the meeting, manager was on leave, etc. I called them every day since 3 days ago, I can’t talk to the right person and the problem still not solve so far.

Overall, it’s a very very bad and disappointed experience with Hellocars. If you want to trade with Hellocars, just be very carefully.

Typical Used Car Dealer Tactics

Not going to lie, the purchase was convenient. The car seems to work just fine so far.

However, they have made too many mistakes for me to give them a positive review:

On the day my car was meant to be delivered, they scratched the windscreen. Instead of offering to replace it straightaway, I had to NEGOTIATE for them to replace it. The car was 24 hours late, and they offered no compensation, no extra service.

In fact, the area manager called me to say: "We have put in a lot of extra effort for you, like replacing the windscreen, we just want to make sure you are going to buy the car instead of returning it and changing your mind."

(They supposedly offer a 7 day no questions asked money back guarantee). The fact that the area manager thought he was doing me a favour by replacing a scratched windscreen speaks volumes about their attitude towards customers.

The logbook has not been properly stamped, which is quite worrying.

I went on the RMS website to pay the stamp duty fees, and the car had already been transferred to my name. Confused, I called HelloCars, and was told that they had 'accidentally' paid for my transfer fees. Then the customer representative told me I have two choices: to pay up, or they would just cancel the registration.

Sick of this company's attitude, I just paid up, and I will just vote with my wallet when the time comes for my next purchase.

First and last time I will deal with this company.

6 Month Update:

Have had to replace the battery ($349)
Right brake light is dead
Log book definitely incorrect.
