Honest Review

I have been a seller on HipComics and a buyer. I have had bad experiences with other sellers, and I have had great ones! The sellers are NOT HipComics. HipComics is an hosting platform for sellers.
Yes, Hip has its own selling platforms, Marks Comics and Fullfilled By Hip, but the majority is your buying from another collector.
Are all people that sell comics trustworthy? No. You have to figure that out for yourself. Find the stores you like to deal with that give you the best prices, you can even send offers to sellers to try to lower prices.
All in all, its a great platform. Does it still need to work out some kinks, yeah, but that's part of growing.
Bottom Line: Great deals, especially in the auctions!

Stay away from hip comics.

I ordered a book back in August of 2025. Messaged the seller pandpcomics in December. Had a reply saying they would ship the following week. It’s now Feb 15 2026 and still nothing. I’ve messaged pandpcomics several times and no reply. I reported them to hip comics and no reply from them either. If you don’t wanna give out free money, stay away from this site. My next action is legal action, which should be easy since my best friend is a lawyer. All in all. Stay away from these guys including pandpcomics. I even called their store and they don’t answer the phone. Damn theifs.

Hi Michael,

I'm sorry you had this experience. A seller not shipping your order, including presales, for months is completely unacceptable, and I understand your frustration.

I want you to know that our team did follow up with you when you contacted us, and I also personally emailed you on February 15th with step-by-step guidance on how to get your refund. It's possible those messages ended up in a spam folder, so let me share the key details here as well.

All HipComic purchases are processed through PayPal, which means you're fully covered by PayPal's Buyer Protection. You can file an "Item Not Received" claim directly in PayPal's Resolution Center and get a full refund, including shipping. You're well within the 180-day protection window, so this should be straightforward.

On our end, we've already taken action against this seller's account to protect other buyers.

Please check your inbox (and spam folder) for my email, or reply here, and I will personally make sure this gets resolved for you. We want to help you get your money back.

Shady Business Practices

**Absolute Disaster - Avoid Cash Into Comics Consignment**

⭐ (1 star)

I consigned 139 comics with Cash Into Comics/HipComic and it was a nightmare from start to finish. Here are the major issues:

Bait and Switch Pricing:
- Initial offer: $1,700
- After their "manual review": $600-700
- Final amount received: $135.40
- Their 900+ comic "review" was don via HipComic app took 19 minutes total - about 1 second per book

Zero Transparency:
- Books listed at auctions for literal pennies in a group lot of 1000 books
- No notification of comic auctions
- Received multiple conflicting final sales reports with different numbers
- Suspected bid shilling on lots
- Sales continued AFTER they claimed all sales complete and had to be called out to pay me

Shady Business Practices:
- Attempted to resell my comics in their own stores at higher prices than auction results
- Actively blocks Google and Facebook reviews
- Their store listings auto-generate 5-star reviews after 45 days
- Claims to have 100 locations but only has ONE actual store in North Carolina

I've Filed Complaints With:
- Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
- Better Business Bureau (BBB)
- North Carolina Attorney General

Bottom line: This company operates with zero integrity. Protect your collection and find a legitimate consignment service.

Updatet oHipComics Final Response:

1. BBB doesn't "rule in favor" - they simply confirm businesses responded. Your BBB rating is an F. That tells the real story.

2. You never provided a specific list. Your email said "comics $5+ (around 169)" - no itemization. I sent 139 comics valued at $5+ according to YOUR HipComic app values. I included a detailed invoice totaling HipValue of ~$1700. You accepted and processed everything I sent. Offer never stated it was for the entire collection.

3. In your AAA correspondence, you stated, "We are willing to proceed with AAA arbitration," when ADR couldn't accept the filing because they required that I have a lawyer. You were notified in October 2025 that I moved to AAA and did not dispute, then refused to sign the paperwork to continue.

4. "Comics sold for ~$310, paid in full." Let's talk about your "transparency":
- I had to catch an incorrect 5% fee you tried to charge
- Comics continued selling AFTER you claimed all sales were complete, breaking our contract
- I had to repeatedly request sales invoices
- Each report had different numbers - multiple conflicting sales reports
-I received $135.40 - Then I found MY comics being resold in YOUR online storefront at the original HipValue prices - which you pulled down within 48 hours of my bringing it to your attention

5. "Each comic individually listed": They were part of a bulk auction lot of 1,000 comics listed at the same time, not an auction for my specific consignment with proper market exposure.

6. You state: "the only item she's ever referenced is HipComic listing 18135926 - an unsold fixed price listing. Fixed price listings have no bidding."
Evidence:

Listing 18135894: Header text shows "4 days, 14h | 1 bid" and Offers History shows Mark (314532) with $1.20 offer, status "PENDING"

Listing 18135926: Offers History shows Mark (314532) with $1.25 offer, status "PENDING"

The same "Mark" account appears in both the seller role (Mark's Comics) and in the offers/bid history of items. You can clarify what "Offers History" represents on your platform and why the same account appears in both roles.

7. "Settlement demand of $600": After you refused arbitration and months of conflicting reports, hidden fees, continued sales after "completion," and finding my comics in your storefront, I offered to settle for the LOW END of YOUR OWN $600-700 estimate. That's dispute resolution, not extortion.

8. The Pattern Others Should Know:
- Your BBB rating: F
- Similar complaints across Reddit, Pissed Consumer, and other platforms, while Google and Facebook reviews are unavailable or blocked.
- $1,700 offer → I accepted → 19-minute "manual review" → $600-700 → $135.40 received
- Had to catch your errors repeatedly
- Sales continued after claiming complete, breaking the contract
- Multiple conflicting sales reports
- My comics were re-listed in your storefront, then quickly removed when caught
- Comics missing from sales reports, found in Mark's storefront at retail prices. (The same person in charge of my auctions)

I encourage potential consignors to review the BBB Rating (F) and lack of available Google and Facebook reviews, but also the many complaints on Reddit, Trustpilot, PissedConsumer.com, and other CBG platforms and groups, where there are reviews and low ratings for HipComic by other people to protect their collections.

Reply from Hipcomic

We've worked with thousands of consignors and take great pride in providing transparent, well-documented service. This reviewer filed a BBB complaint, which was reviewed thoroughly across three rounds of submissions from both sides. BBB closed the case in our favor, stating: "BBB has determined your company has addressed the issues within the complaint."

Rather than accept that outcome, the reviewer emailed us demanding $600 (down from a previous $2,000 demand) and threatening: "On January 5th, I will begin posting detailed warnings... Final offer: $600... No response = I proceed with public disclosure." We didn't pay. These reviews are that disclosure.

In Her Own Words (From BBB Submission):

The reviewer quotes our February 4, 2025 email: "We recommend sending only the books with HipValues of $5+ (around 169 books)... We estimate this portion of your collection to be valued between $600 to $700, minus our commission of 35%."

She then writes: "I interpreted this to mean I should send comics valued at $5+, which I did to the best of my ability... I acknowledge I may have sent different issue numbers from a multi-issue series. When Hip said 'send comics $5+,' I made judgment calls about which issues to include."

On comics she claimed were "never reported": she wrote "they were reported, and I should not have listed them as missing."

She received a recommendation for 169 comics estimated at $600-$700, chose to send different comics by her own admission, omitted half the highest-value comics we requested, and was unhappy they sold for less. The "$1,700" was an automated estimate for all 905 comics, subject to manual review - our actual recommendation was $600-$700 for 169 specific comics, as her own quote confirms. Her signed contract also states: "The Seller acknowledges that the auction estimate provided by HipComic is not a guarantee of the final sale price." However, the estimate was not the issue.

The comics she sent sold for approximately $310, and she was paid in full, less our agreed-upon 35% commission and pre-agreed shipping costs.

Despite this, we offered her a full 100% refund of our entire commission and to return all unsold comics at our cost - she declined.

Update - Addressing New Claims:

The reviewer continues making statements that her own BBB submissions directly contradict:

She writes here: "$310 minus 35% commission = $201.50. I received $135.40"

Yet she wrote to BBB: "Hip claims I omitted the $71.45 shipping cost from calculations. I accept this charge is legitimate. Contract Section 2 states: 'The Seller is responsible ... for all costs and arrangements related to shipping the collection to HipComic.' Hip provided a prepaid label and I agreed to the deduction."

On "bid shilling": She claims "timestamped screenshots of Mark Comics bidding on multiple items" but the only item she's ever referenced is HipComic listing 18135926 - an unsold fixed price listing. Fixed price listings have no bidding. There is nothing to shill. She's welcome to provide a single auction listing showing bid shilling.

On arbitration refusal: We have a binding written agreement to use Delaware ADR - the arbitrator the reviewer herself proposed and selected in writing in August 2025.

On other claims: She claims we "block reviews" - yet she's posting freely across multiple platforms. She claims "bulk lot dumping" - yet each comic was individually scanned, listed, described, and auctioned separately, such as HipComic listing 17897143. She has had direct links to every individual auction since July 2025. She claims "auto-generated 5-star reviews" - this is standard on nearly every marketplace, including eBay: if a buyer doesn't leave feedback within 45 days, positive feedback is recorded automatically.

The BBB reviewed all evidence from both parties and closed the case in our favor. You can confirm with the BBB. We've addressed every claim through proper channels and won't respond to each recycled argument.

Horrible shipping waits and costs

You can get great deals on comics on this site if you don't mind waiting a month or more for your comics to be shipped. I have been using Hip for over a year now with mixed results. Some of the sellers on this platform are great. They ship their books in a timely fashion and are responsive to questions. Other sellers are absolutely horrible. ESPECIALLY Sunshine Comics AND FULFILLED BY HIPCOMICS (the site's own company). I have won auctions from both these sellers and have waited MONTHS for my books to ship. When I ask about the delays ii have either gotten absolutely no response or a canned "we are sorry but our fulifilment department is prioritizing your shipment blah blah blah" or some other such excuse about their shipping department. You would think with the really high shipping fees they charge (Often $40-$50+) you would get your books in a matter of days not months. As a result I will be buying comics on other sites like ebay.

Hosts shady sellers/no protection for customers

One of their sellers shorted me some of the comics I'd paid for, admitted they shorted me, then refused to respond to my requests for a refund on the missing books. Hipcomic allowed this and refused to take action, instead referring me to PayPal to jump through hoops, only to be denied, basically because I refused to create a PayPal account. I won't be doing business with them again. They robbed me. They owe me money.

I bid on multiple I tems, found out two days later my employment was doing major layoffs which inlcuded me (275 people). I contacted customer service to cancel my bids 4 full days before the auction end and their respoonse was to wait until the auctions end then they will ask the seller to cancel the sale....... This is incompetence at it finest, not only did I have to pay for the autions I won they refused to answer why the bids were not cancelled a full 4 days before when their policy says 24 hours needs to be left on the aution.

Damaged Slab, hip comic did not offer any recourse

Bought my very first slab through Hip Comic, third party selling on Hip Comic.

Upon receiving noticed, pet hair on the slab and a crack at the bottom of the slab.

Wrote to hip comic,
They said they cannot do anything and that I should deal with the seller. Seller refused to refund my return mailing charge.

Right there I knew the Hip comic wants to only make a % but do no real work in the process.

Buyer be warned.
New buyers, be careful.

Hip comic asked to open a dispute through PayPal. So in essence I wasted few hours of my life dealing with seller, totally tried to scam me.
All for $11 mailing charge.

Not happy with Hip Comic. I rather buy directly from other sources.

I thought the shipping was way to pricey. I won 15 books and the shipping was $21.00. If this is how hip Comics makes money they need to let the buyers know. Shipping was almost as much as the books. So no thanks I won't be bidding with this company.

I messaged hip comics and they tried telling me I must have used a different account because they cannot delete purchase history which they did , and I can say this with confidence because I still had all the comics I was watching still there so if I was on a different account my watchlist would not be the same . Difficult site - Failed "customer service".

HipComics is not only a difficult site experience, too cheap to pay decent developers, but their "customer service" (clearly a catachresis in their case) arbitrarily and capriciously suspend good honest paid accounts without ANY due course or ANY input having failed to hire employees with the right traits for customer service work and who are completely oblivious of the acronym WETCO.
Instead feature 'power tripping' individuals who allow personal feelings dictate unfounded 'professional' actions that reflect poorly on the business.

Note to anyone who pays this site - Don't let your credit card on file lapse or somehow not authorize the monthly payment just one time. Result: Suspended Forever and Good Bye! HipComics~
