I bought a sewing machine from Hobbycraft which within a couple weeks had started showing signs that the whole needle alignment was completely off. Of course I was disappointed but got in contact and... See more

Lovely click and collect only scam!
Lovely click and collect only scam!
I really used to like Hobbycraft, they have a lot of useful stuff. That being said, this "click and collect only" rubbish has done nothing but tarnish the reputation of the company, for me personally.
I ordered online, a click and collect only item (ready from 1 hour at the store near me), only to find I have to pay £2 for the privillege of driving to the store, to get something that is already in stock in the shop, and should just be readily acccessible on a shelf.
Not only that, but the item was not ready from 1 hour. Infact, it's fast approaching 2 hours and it's still not ready.
When I compare this with other businesses who click and collect, who normally get the order ready in less than an hour AND do not charge for the privellege - it leaves a very bitter taste in the mouth.

Terrible company and Ethics
If i could give negative stars i would. Terrible customer service, I was hacked and money was spent on my account at Hobbycraft, i got in touch to resolve and there response was that there was nothing they could do as it had already gone through. It was a monetary voucher, surely they could have just cancelled it and provided a refund. Was genuinely shocked at how dismissive and unwilling to assist they were, would strongly advise against spending money here out of principle.

Woeful customer service
Woeful customer service. E-mailed with a query relating to them not displaying products correctly and causing me to waste money. Offered nothing but a "sorry". Still haven't even acknowledged my e-mail in 5 days.
I used Hobbycraft due to them having to close stores in the UK because I wanted to see them survive, but as soon as you have a question or a complaint it becomes all too clear why they are a dying company. Expensive prices, poor product knowledge and terribly poor customer service. Too big to care about customers.
Complete shambles
** 3rd and final update** I used the live chat yesterday to try and get some answers. Not easy but I was willing to persevere. Again lots of platatudes, fobbing off and vague and contradictory answers. The advisor advised she "was pleased to offer me a £5 account credit" for my disappointment. Thank you but no thank you! The chat was eventually transferred to a manager who took the very reasonable approach of, we have a disappointed customer, how can we put this right? and that is what she proceeded to do. She replaced my order which arrived less than 24 hours later. So a big thank you to the manager but what an absolute palaver to get a happyish resolution.
** 2nd Update** I have reached the conclusion that not only are Hobbycraft incompetent they are also dishonest. Two days ago I finally received an email to say my order had been dispatched. Great, or so I thought! I have now received an email with no explanation at all to say my order has been cancelled!!!
I think the only sensible advice I can give to anyone who reads this review and is thinking of shopping with Hobbycraft TV is don't bother. Spend your money elsewhere with a company who knows what they are doing and values it's customers.
** Update** a few hours after posting my review Hobbycraft posted a response (see below) and shortly after their response was posted I received an email to say my order has been dispatched. Who knows whether this was done as a result of my review or was simply a coincidence. I guess we'll never know the answer to that one! Anyway, hopefully I will now get the rest of my order in the next few days.
There is a saying about not being able to organise a drinks party in a brewery and unfortunately this is akin to how I feel about Hobbycraft TV at the moment.
I placed my first order before Christmas. There was an account credit offer on but when I queried why I had not received my credit, I was told that what they had said on TV (and were still saying at the time of the chat) was incorrect. I also queried the delay with my order and although I was told they'd get back to me no one ever did.
Maybe stupidly, I placed another order on 3rd January. The items were in stock. One of the items has been received but the rest are still currently "in process". Contacting the live chat is a much use as a chocolate teapot as all they will say is we are very busy, we have to pass it on to another team who will get in touch at some point.
When I started the chat I was mildly irritated by the delay, by the end of it after platitudes and vague promises with no timeline I'm pretty angry.
When Hobbycraft TV started I was so hopeful of it being a great way to shop but they really do need to invest in their customer services so they can provide proper and timely solutions and not empty platitudes. As a customer, I accept there will sometimes be problems but when there is a problem, I don't want to be fobbed off I just want it to be resolved quickly. Unfortunately Hobbycraft's current processes simply don't allow for this.

Ordered online - deflating experience
Ordered online using a giftcard. Order never came. Followed up with customer service ... they told me the order appeared to be lost in transit. Told me they'd send another order out. Never got a confirmation email, so contacted them again ... told me they'd have to raise ANOTHER replacement order. First and last time shopping with Hobbycraft!
Unsatisfactory packaging
I have had a number of Hobbycraft jigsaw puzzles,. The quality of the puzzles were excellent which markedly contrasts with the boxes and illustrations. I have had two recently which will probably be my last purchases. The first one had such a poor illustration that it was impossible to view effectively After complaining Hobbycraft replaced it with another product. On my latest purchase the picture on the front of the box did not correspond the larger puzzle as it had a slice missing and the quality of the picture print was so poor that it was of little help. It is a pity that what could be an excellent puzzle range is being spoiled by lack of attention to quality control on the packaging .
Not impressed with this shambles
Not impressed with this shambles, ordered a item on Monday for 1 hour pick up got an email saying it was delayed please allow 24 hrs so contacted them today which is an extra 24-48 hrs only to be told give them an extra 24-48 hours this was an in store pickup and the chat was the worse clearly not interested or care about the delay . The assistant said they where going to look into it today still no email not only that they terminated the chat with out giving a proper explanation or time scale, hobby craft is a pure joke and with out doubt the worst customer service in the uk retail sector.

Terrible click and collect service
Click and collect email said I had to wait for another email to confirm it was ready to collect even though it said the Leeds store had one in stock
So I have waited since Saturday for someone to confirm.

Store really organised
The order was easily place and I used a Click and collect option. The Tamworth store was friendly, organised and efficient which made picking up the order quick and easy.

£7.95 next day delivery fee made me take 50 steps back from purchasing from here again 🤦🏼♀️! The standard delivery is lengthy, the yarn isn’t the greatest quality, most is very overpriced. I once used to love coming here for bits and bobs, but not I choose alternatives.

Hobbycraft are really going down in my estimation and have been for quite a while. I ordered four sets of fat quarters online for click and collect. The website let me order them then the following day I recieved an email to let me know that my order had "been delayed". Next day I received 2 more emails to tell me that "Unfortunately, when we have tried to fulfil your order, we have sadly found an issue that has meant that some items are currently unavailable. In this instance, we are sorry to say that we have had to cancel the following from your order and we will dispatch the remainder of the order as soon as possible." What this actually meant was that my whole order was cancelled because their website is not managed properly. If their stock is very low why allow customers to order online? It's a waste of time and now I have to wait for a refund too. I'll think twice a out buying anything from Hobbycraft again.

Not many of the main brands on display most is order online poor selection of knitting patterns again all online .
Not many staff about queue at the tills was stupid
Was Zero stars, now three
I originally gave this zero stars. Now rated three
I ordered an 'in stock' item for click and collect from my local store. I queried this a couple of days later and they could not locate the item. I checked again later and they offered to send the item to my address instead. However they advised that it was out of stock and rather then locating my original order, they refunded the amount instead when I stated I preferred to have the item (I did not request the refund)
I received an email yesterday stating it was ready for click and collect! Spoke to Customer Services again and they contacted the store to hold onto the item which I collected and paid for.
All's well that ends well but I think that some processes need to be looked at to stop this happening again

Extremely overpriced
Extremely overpriced! Went in to buy some cake decorating items and icing fondant etc and omg I could not believe the prices! As I didn’t have time to go elsewhere I had not choice but to buy from there and it came to over £70!!! Just for items to make a birthday cake! I will not be going there again! Disgusting. I’ll order from Amazon next time.
Excellent customer service
I visited the store in yeovil somerset .
I qas helped by Craig for some transfer tape for my cricut i also had some trouble with my app for it and he was amazing all sorted and back to crafting thanks again for your support 😀 👍
Rip off prices
Is it any surprise that Hobbycraft have so far closed 19 shops? Not when their prices are nothing more than attempting to rip off their customers, next time you consider buying do yourself a favour and check prices elsewhere. Was recently in one of their shops after a 3 pack 22g Pritt glue it was £7.50 which thought was expensive, bought from Morrisons for £2.95 ! A very substantial difference. Buyer beware!

The incentive to get £5 for your birthday is only allowed when you receive their seven thousand marketing emails, its not worth the 4 emails you get weekly
My daughter loves Hobbycraft
My daughter loves shopping at Hobbycraft. It's a shame that our local branch (Canterbury) has since closed.
