The site worked well. It's just difficult dealing with time wasters etc. But the site works and with patience you'll get a move. You never know why people are moving so you can upgrade. I came off an estate into a ground floor flat in Victorian house conversion on a really nice street. Took me two years but a lot of that time- a year? - was spent vetting the new place and area to make sure I'd got it right.

Always better to swap where possible as you get to see the property first and don't need to bid on it.

Homeswapper is a con , its the same people looking to swap as it was 3 years ago , bit odd that no one seems to ever find a match . Do not use this website .

I do like this site to a certain degree It is easy to open an account and very easy to navigate BUT be prepared for a very long trawls through huge numbers of homes and a very long wait to swap I have used this site twice over 7 years and have still not been able to swap - Mostly due to time wasters who take you to the point of visiting and contacting landlords to get assessed for a swap and then suddenly changing their minds without even bothering to let you know . For me it's mainly because although I am downsizing there just haven't been many suitable flats in the areas I am looking in plus 1 bed Ground Floor flats seem in huge demand and I am on an upper floor so just missing out. My issues are with other users wasting your time than the site itself I would prefer a permanent password rather than having to change it every 3 months and it does tend to sometimes match you with homes say 100% or very close but doesn't take into consideration the match in respect to other users needs such as they want a different area to you /No stairs / Lifts/types of gardens etc so matches are not always accurate BUT this can throw up other areas you might not have considered before Be very prepared though for time wasters with no manners with other users - It is a helpful tool for those of us on council lists but overall unless you get very lucky the wait to move will probably not be much quicker (depending on where and what kind of place you need to move to) Suggestion for users - use this in conjunction with Google Maps so it's quicker to check an area for all your other requirements such as bus routes, shops and schools you need - makes it quicker to sort through

Overcrowding issue. Needed a 2 bed property. Waited 10 years for local council to rehouse. Homeswapper offers a nationwide opportunity. Again it was impossible to swap locally so I went nationwide and found a swap, with a garden!

It's just such a fantastic service, I don't know another way I could move into secure, affordable tenancy anywhere in the UK!

I like the site but am getting frustrated because I keep getting locked out. I changed my password, AGAIN, the other day🫠 and all was well but now today it won’t accept the password. What is it protecting… the Crown Jewels!!! They need to stop this obsessive password rubbish. Really had enough.

Took a little while but we managed to find a direct swap for my Mum who is now living near us after being a 3 hour drive away after losing our Dad a year ago. She is so happy and will get the support and company she needs. Thank you!

I paid for home swapper yesterday in full. Now I can’t see when the users last logged on it’s disseapered. I would like a full refund I think that is so cheeky!! I paid for a service and I’ve not got it!

I really don't recommend this site for the simple fact that they will claim you have matches and to please log in and see, but when you click on these matches the other person has not listed your area as a place they are looking to move to, and to prove my point ive messaged all the matches that Homeswapper recommends and each person said no sorry im not looking for a swap in that area. I don't know why Homeswapper claims to have found you a 100% match when they actually haven't. You only have to look at the persons profile and check where they want to live and it does not even say they are looking for your area so i don't understand why Homeswapper claims to be matching you to people who are looking for your area.
Such a pointless ineffecient site.

Time wasters. They have what they're looking for which matches 90% - 100% what you have and yet, they don't want it....what are you looking for then?? A desert island???
Been on here for 3 years - absolute joke & waste of time.

Always used this site to swap when we've need a different home that suits our needs and believe its the best way to do so. You do get some time wasters but thats no reflection on the site and would highly recommend it if wanting to move.

Been on this site for past 25years! Finding someone to swap with you is like looking for a needle inna hay stack? So many refusal coz they want to move else where. This is the most rubbish idea to creat such a site

Quick to register, straight forward to use. I wasn't registered long before I found a swap and the transfer happened quite quickly. I would definitely recommend.

I’m a paying subscriber to homeswapper as my HA uses their own exchange page I’m with LiveWest, I cannot even access my account although paid in full, It keeps saying wrong password so I keep resetting and still says wrong password.
If you read through these reviews you will see this as a common problem but they just say please contact us and we will help, why not just sort the glitches so people can access their accounts.
I will be requested my fee back in full.

Constantly tells you your password is incorrect, when you reset your password it then tells you your password is incorrect again. Have to start your account and photos all over again, it’s just not worth the stress. No matter what, they do not seem to fix these issues. Please, sort this out so people can actually keep the same account and not end up with 5 accounts. The most stressful situation to be in when you’re desperately trying to move out of where you live.

Home swapper site constantly constantly glitches. If you get an email notification, and you click it, you have to reset your password and it never ever recognises it. If you’re lucky enough to get in, the messages are gone or are very old. The site is old and not usable.

Reply from HomeSwapper
Awful website, a complete joke of a place.
Whilst I understand they encourage users to respond to messages, they won’t allow you to send any new ones unless you have responded to EVERY message you have EVER received. I’ve got 10 that I received a year ago (when I was unable to log on). So I’m prevented from sending GENUINE messages to any property I am interested in unless I send POINTLESS responses to these 10 people from a year ago!!. What a waste of my time and a waste of their time. Then…if those poor people that I’ve now dragged into this s*** show don’t respond to my ‘1 year later response’ they will not be able to send any genuine messages to users with homes that they are genuinely interested in. HomeSwapper could automatically delete massages over 6 months old and prevent this. But of course they don’t. (Copied in to my HA for info).

A Long Ting,,
lots of people just being nosy, but if you are determined it will happen.
Make sure you check everything on your visits even if you have to visit multiple times.
I’ve had false walls hiding unfinished plastering, blocked drains, windows which won’t open and fire place fake coals taken, my homeswapper ad stated I don’t care what stated your home is in as long as it fits my requirements,,, I am happy to fix it up,,, but they still hid faults lol.

Updated since Homeswappers REPLY——A pointless reply on my personal experience. Seems like a time Waster,
Totally homeswapper style lmao
In fact homeswapper is the platform the council and housing association force you to use to find your own home because they don’t want to listen or help you.
Your better off using HomeHunt.co.uk 100% better, just more Northern.
I still get offered viewings Monthly!!
