Called 3-4 times because I could not…

Called 3-4 times because I could not send email. No fault of mine, totally on hostmonster. No one could fix it. I left hostmonster due to the failure of the support. I am with hostgator now and unfortunately cannot recommend hostmonster due to the inability of the platform to keep the most basic of all services going.

Excellent customer support

I am a long term customer, maybe 15 or 20 years already. HostMonster has great customer support. I used the chat option to re-enable my account after it had expired when I forgot to renew it. The support person made sure it is up and running again in no time and also carried over my existing discount.
I used chat support once before because some custom config file broke a PHP upgrade and the website was down. Support fixed this in a minute.

How are they still in business...

So, for the past week most emails through HostMonster have been stuck in a queue. Not just for me BUT FOR EVERYONE.

Did they let anyone know, of course not, why would a so called professional service do that.

In addition, the emails don't seem to be released from the queue, they seem to be deleted. I know this as I have sent multiple emails to each person/company chasing meetings and quotes for a grant submission, and one or two of a dozen emails have been received.

Meant to have been resolved yesterday, but still a s*it show. Chasing meetings and quotes for a grant that is due 5th Jan which I will now definitely miss as everyone is starting to be away now with Xmas break. I have been a loyal customer to HM, and regret it. Has probably cost me £180,000 with the loss of this grant, and delayed future submission thanks to missing this deadline.

I now see why they have lost 600,000 hosted domains from 2014 to now, down to 260,000 ish. Yeah you read that right, the data shows they have lost that many domains, with the majority going to godaddy. (guess what my next stop is)...

Their CEO should be ashamed and embarrassed by the poor service. Do not be fooled by the hype, you get what you pay for. They used to be a cost effective option, bare bones and lean, which is all those who know what they are doing need. They are now a liability to any business who needs a web presence and emails, the only things they are offerig. They are now cheap and just nasty.

If you value your business, and your sanity, go elsewhere. Avoid HostMonster like an antivaxer.. I was going to say the plague, but COVID-19 is more relevant and relatable. Unfortunately, I could not rate it at zero.

I just realised where they got their name from. Hosting with us is a Monster, aka HostMonster. It was right in front of us the whole time….

Think Twice

We've had HostMonster for over a decade. Within the last year, we have received numberous emails about our domain being infected. After paying for SiteLock that they were upselling, we received another email about another domain of ours. Again and again they kept telling us one by one that our sites are infected and that we need to purchase SiteLock or otherwise they will take all our sites offline.
It's very disappointing to be with a provider for so long without any issues and now they are having nothing but issues.

HostMonster will delete your data and they don't even care

So… I’ve been using HostMonster for nearly 15 years now, and despite regular issues and bad experiences (downtime, lockouts, frivolous account suspensions) I haven’t moved away because of the sheer amount of work that would be involved (I have quite a few websites hosted with them).

Well last week they decided to migrate my entire hosting account to a new server and IP address without giving me any prior warning or notice to prepare. I didn’t even get a courtesy email to let me know it had happened after the fact.

No, I had to find out the hard way when my users started to tell me that my website wasn't loading and just displayed an “Account Suspended” message. How embarrassing!

It turned out that they had trashed my websites, email configurations, SSL certificates and mysql databases.

After repeated contact with their “support” staff and several hours wasted I finally had some resemblance of my websites back. But they had permanently lost at least a day’s worth of mysql data, including a ton of work I had done on a new wordpress store that I was frantically working on for a big launch that day - well that was a disaster.

This bodged migration has created numerous problems across my account and has already cost me a great deal of time and money and continues to do so.

I think the actions HM took are completely irresponsible and in my 30 years as an IT professional I have never witnessed such a complete lack of care and consideration.

I am beyond disappointed with HostMonster, but it has given me the kick I needed to finally ditch them for good!

Do yourself a favour and don’t let them do the same thing to you! AVOID!

Mediocre Hosting Provider

Never had an issue with Hostmonster. However, their website looks, feels and navigates terribly. They finally upgraded their interface to use cPanel's version and not their own in-house terrible looking one. The dashboard to get to cPanel is still archaic.

Probably I would only keep them for…

Probably I would only keep them for management of emails as they seem to offer unlimited disk space with the mention that over a certain limit of files server speed will slow down. Bad support and very expensive after the first year, you will have to choose to copy paste your file in a new account or pay somewhere like double. Unhappy ;)

useless

what a bunch of idiots, I can't describe them in any other way. Support (Live Chat) clearly have a little command of the English language, they don't answer questions properly as they don't understand English well at all. I was trying to remove GDPR Privacy from my domains to transfer them away, and the admin panel says to contact them to remove it ... so I did, and they referred me to privacy at endurance.com and said email them about it. I had to contact them twice over 24 hours and I still can't transfer my domains as they have changed the Admin email to GDPR at GDPR-MASKED.COM
I would never deal with these idiots again; expensive, rubbish service, rubbish admin panel, rubbish at everything!

The support is often non-existent, avoid!

The support is often non-existent. I am being left in limbo. They said they were closing my account last week as I cancelled the hosting package (VPS hosting support is really bad). They made it sound like the whole account will be closed but I have over 20 domains on it. They won't reply to live chat, email or support tickets just to let me know the domains will be fine. Looks like I am going to have to transfer every domain away, which is crazy. Extremely annoyed.

incredible lack of customer service

hostmonster is my existing host for two sites that have minimal traffic (under 1000 visitors a month) .. and as my plan expires soon and I wanted to change the way my sites were hosted. I think in two years I've contacted them twice but it's never been simple and on that basis I felt it might be easier if I found a new host and created the set up I wanted before pointing the named servers at that new host.. however I wanted to give hostmonster an opportunity to keep me (low traffic and not constantly emailing customer services or on the chat box.. ) ..so I opened a chat window and this is what transpired...

Chat ID: 7256010. Question: Provider: Hostmonster - My Domain is: "***" I wanted to revise my hosting plan...and was actually looking at moving host as I suspect it is easier to set up a new account, do the work I want to do to the sites and then point the named server at the new host once my plan with you expires..

Low prices, great service

I am extremely happy with hostmonster.com for my website hosting..
Their prices are excellent and their service is great.
I've been a webmaster since 1997 and hostmonster is the best deal I have ever found.
I have no reservations recommending them to anyone who wants a good reliable web host and wants to save money too.
