Very disappointed , compare the branches I have use down south especially in Hitchin , Stevenage and St Albans as recently moved up North .
Have purchase the small kitchen for my Utility room products , found one of the unit was missing , reported it via email , they kept saying it’s been delivered , in end they found out what went wrong .
Also was hoping to finish off connecting the worktops and sink installation , no worktop bolts with the delivery product but have the colour worktop compound for the joints to sealed together ? Also the sink drainage with overflow was missing as well .
So be going in the branch at Altrincham
In the morning to sort it out , and make a complaint .
Will let you know the outcome of it .

My main complaint is about the way Howdens conduct their business. The sign’s over their doors states “TRADE ONLY” but they are only too happy to welcome the consumer into their showrooms offering all sorts of drinks and snacks for free, however there is a suspicious lack of clarity in the way they supply the consumer with their quote as it only contains a single price of the total cost with no breakdown of the items included, not to mention the individual prices. They also refused to supply a copy of the plan, only supplying 3D images of what the kitchen would look like.
Their reasoning was they’d done all the donkey work so we could take all of their information to their competitors not accepting the fact that all their competitors provide the same planning services as they do so what’s the problem? It made me wonder what they are afraid of!
When I raised this issue with the salesperson she told me this was the manager’s decision and there was nothing she could. When I started to get frustrated with her in not knowing what my quote consisted of she told me “if that’s the way I was going to be I could get out!” – I did and went straight to the manager, where once again I got no further. He looked at the details of my quote on his computer and identified that some of the concerns I had were founded and he made changes to my order, but still refused to give me an itemised breakdown of the quote.
When the order was delivered there was an item delivered in error plus an item missing (I was able to check this from an itemised delivery note at last). I called into the showroom to inform them and the person I dealt with arranged for the wrong item to be swapped for the correct one and he thought the missing items were actually in stock in the warehouse but when I went into the warehouse to collect them (handles) they couldn’t be found so he said they’d be delivered when swapping over the incorrect end panel.
These two issues subsequently led onto further problems with refunds for unused parts. The itemised invoice and plan were finally emailed to my fitter (not to me claiming GDPR rules wouldn’t let them, despite me paying for the order) and when I looked at the amount I was refunded compared to the prices on the invoice I found I was short-changed. This led a number of visits in an attempt to resolve the issue.
I still believe I haven’t received the full amount I’m due so on the 8th December I emailed Andrew Livingston (CEO) full details of all my issues and as of today (22nd December) I’ve not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement of receipt of my complaint.

I can't overstate my disappointment in the Altrincham branch manager, Danny. He extorted my retired mother by shouting at and abusing her over the phone, blaming her for a mismeasurement (Howdens did the measuring), resulting in my mum feeling pressured into paying an additional £1,000 to remedy the issue. Once the payment was made, she was effectively "black listed" and no one would communicate when the £1000s worth of product would be arriving. She was left waiting at the property, hoping the goods would arrive. The deliveries were split over two days (not communicated), which was a further insult. I will visit the branch to escalate this matter further. Danny is clearly a misogynistic bully with a severe anger issue. Howdens needs to intervene immediately. My mother also felt sorry at the prospect of his subordinates having to speak to him, as he clearly enables a culture of fear among his staff, most of whom are pleasant and professional. I'm happy to speak to Howdens to share more information.

Without question the WORST after sales customer service I have ever encountered. A non stop catalogue of delays, missing items, two completely different worktops sent and misinformation given from the moment I placed the order. Zero accountability from Howdens Altrincham and levied the blame for all of the above either at myself, my kitchen fitters or their central warehouse. At no point did I receive an apology for their appalling service. Great service prior to getting my order, but once they have your order they couldn't care less - all about the sales!
The kitchen was required as part of a commercial office refit, for which I had several other tradesmen (painters, carpet fitters, handymen, furniture installers etc) lined up on an extremely tight schedule to reduce the time colleagues would need to work from home. Howdens were aware of this and I had spent 4 months meticulously planning the timeline and logistics for this project. Their mismanagment caused me no end of stress, as well as wasted time spent in phone calls back and forth to them. The project incurred additional costs due to their delays. I have 3 more office refits to complete and I will be avoiding them at all costs - suggest you do the same!

From start to finish Howden's have been Amazing, The lady on the desk was Brilliant knew exactly what our kitchen fitted needed and knew everything without looking it up. All the staff are efficient and extremely friendly. Had our new kitchen delivered this morning and the young lad was so helpful and friendly, could not ask for more. If you need a new Kitchen - Howdens is the place to go.

They say they price match like for like but they don't. They make their clients do the work to prove they are over priced and even then will find some reason not to match it. Avoid Altrincham branch the new manager is rude and they're not worth the effort.
