Howdens - Brighton Portslade Reviews 

Very regrettably, we purchased a kitchen from Howdens Portslade in December. They made more than one mistake with the delivery, which resulted in extra costs as the fitters could not carry on with the job. Additionally, the quality of the cabinets is substandard. (When getting quotes for the fitting, a tradesman suggested Benchmarx being of superior quality and, sadly, I guess he was right!)
Disappointingly, as they don’t deal with the fitting, they shifted the responsibility onto the fitters and viceversa.
I would absolutely not recommend them and, as some other reviewers pointed out, the whole notion of selling on trade accounts just highlights that servicing the final customer or customer’s satisfaction is not in their focus at all.

I had to see Ollie again at the Howdens on Portland Road (Brighton-Portslade Depot) regarding my order, and as always, he was highly professional. It’s always a pleasure to see him—he is consistently polite, to the point, and professional.

Once again Ollie, Carl and mark have pulled out the stops to get my order on time , with kitchen doors that were not made any more, as I explained to the client after they also had made enquiries on their kitchen, this branch as always got the customer what they needed and after I fitted the doors etc was over the moon. Best HOWDENS branch in Sussex I believe. Thank you Carl, Ollie and mark.

Howdens have been so professional and helpful. The design was excellent and Chloe’s input was so valuable, she was also flexible and able to tweak when we moved a wall! Ollie has been great with after-service, helping to source extra fittings and going above and beyond. Highly recommend.

Dealing with Louise made the whole experience pleasurable and easy.

I was in a bit of a rush to get back to my job - as time was pressing on. Had to wait 15 minutes before getting served as there was only one guy on the till. I noticed staff in the background chatting, making coffee and wiping down surfaces.
Then the 'marketing' dept. wonders why I haven't bought anything from them in a while - thus threaten to close my account!?
Close it. Being pestered at least twice a week is no way to treat any customer! Unbelievable!!

Ive been using Howdens’s for over 20 years now and can honestly say the level of customer service and efficiency is unrivalled.
The Portslade Brighton branch is such a friendly easy going place to visit, bearing in mind I go in a lot of construction type wholesalers day in day out, this one is always a joy. Oliver in the front desk is super helpful and will do everything in his power to help out and give a 5 star service. Mark, Rich and the amazing women that work on the desks and warehouse staff are so helpful not to mention the branch manager Carl. Every single one of them I respect enormously and they all deserve any praise and recognition from their peers. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. I’ll be ordering many many kitchens with them next year so the poor things will be seeing a lot more of me. Bravo team and thank you for your impeccable service.

The counter staff are always helpful and look pleased to see you, and I appreciated the warehouse staff helping me load the goods into my vehicle when I was recovering from an operation on my hand.

Fay, Howden’s kitchen designer, came to my house very shortly after I rang Howden’s and it was immediately apparent that she was highly qualified at her job. She measured up & then went through the Howden’s catalogues that she brought with her, to discuss colour-ways, price & suitability of kitchen units. She looked carefully at the way the kitchen was laid out & came up with some inspired changes that made all the difference. Fay then called me very soon afterwards to further discuss any possible changes I might want to make, since having met with her.
I then went into Howden’s and met Ollie, the branch manager. Although it was a busy morning for him he took the time to go through all the products & the prices with me, again getting me the best value for money & explaining any necessity for fire-proof doors etc. Ollie was kind, courteous & extremely knowledgeable.
Very shortly after this Fay then sent me the complete 3D design which enabled me to view how my kitchen would look when fitted. She also booked me in for an appointment at Howden’s where we viewed my kitchen on the large screen in her office. At this point we went through all the pricing again, Fay supported me in getting the best value for money & we looked at the portable work surface blocks to compare with my choice of units to ensure they complemented each other.
The whole process with both Ollie & Fay at Portslade Howden’s was one of both expertise, patience & kindness. Im so glad they were recommended to me.

Absolutely love our new kitchen, pantry and utility. Fay was amazing at helping us getting it sorted. We bought a kitchen with white solid wood doors and had everything sprayed exactly the bright colour we (I) wanted. Price compared to alternatives was also really good.

Fay was fantastic. Helpful all the way through with planning and installation.
