Howdens - Charlton Reviews

I need to call out what great customer service & after sales service, I received from Howden's, Charlton, London SE7. We needed to replace an Alvo chrome, pull out tap which we bought last year, this was due to the neck of the tap "popping" out of it's housing. As it was within the Howden's guarantee, I called the branch explained the situation and as advised, sent photo's of proof of purchase & the tap. Next day I received an email from Steve Westgate, branch manager asking me to call him & discuss. Although he hadn't encountered a similar issue before, he didn't doubt I was being genuine. He offered to supply a new neck with relevant parts and when this was delayed, advised me that rather than wait and leave us without a working kitchen tap, he would supply a new replacement tap! This was absolutely excellent customer service from start to finish. I would have no doubt in purchasing from this branch again and would highly recommend them to local traders and customers.

I’ve worked with Georgia and the team for over 3 years now. Howdens Charlton are a different breed… I send ALL my clients to them and have never had bad feedback or experiences. As a builder, when the kitchens going in and you need to alter something or add something; I can get parts within the hour from Howdens Charlton; that’s a service no other kitchen supplier can provide… fact, Boom.

We worked with Georgia from the Charlton branch and had a fantastic experience throughout. From designing and thinking through layout - through to organising temporary storage and liaising with builder during installation - this was a highly personalised service and made the process far easier than we expected. Could not recommend high enough. We went through a couple of design and cost comparison reviews elsewhere and Howdens had by far the best overall product and service.

Georgia was really helpful both with the initial design and the sorting out of a few issues after.

On the kitchen itself, we did have a few issues with surplus/missing items which i think you need to sort out as it must be costing you a fortune.

Overall, I'm very happy with the kitchen and the service. It just could have been smoother if the kitting was more accurate.

I've recently bought kitchens from both Howdens and Magnet and the experience was chalk and cheese. An absolute nightmare with Magnet was followed by a thoroughly professional customer service experience. Georgia from the Charlton branch in particular deserves a lot of credit - she went the extra mile at every opportunity and worked really hard to ensure everything went smoothly.

My partner and I purchased a property last year and made a decision to replace our previous kitchen with something more modern.

Based on recommendations from a contractor who was doing some work at our property we decided to consider Howdens. The contractor assured us that Howdens provides high quality kitchens at competitive prices and that they've installed many of their kitchens.

After visiting a few kitchen showrooms earlier, we went through a very similar process of booking design appointment at the Howdens Charlton branch. Design appointment wasn't too different from other places we've visited before.

Our builder was able to start kitchen installation sooner than the other kitchen providers, so we decided to go with Howdens.

There were a few red flags during the whole process:
- Our builder was surprisingly keen to go with Howdens and discouraged choosing other brands.
- The price breakdown of the kitchen wasn't transparent (We received a few separate quotes making it difficult to understand the cost of the kitchen).
- There was no contract from Howdens side, we had to purchase the kitchen via our builders account.

After reading this statement from Howdens website we still decided to go ahead:
"We are trade only to ensure our products are installed to the highest standard, so you cannot buy from Howdens without a trade account."

Sadly our excitement of getting a beautiful new kitchen ended up being a stressful experience ending up with ongoing disappointment with our choice. The quality of the kitchen didn't match what we were expecting and have paid for. The contractor installing the kitchen has disappeared without finishing remaining work.

After a year of struggle we are living with a badly installed/unfinished kitchen. No other contractors are willing to finish remaining work and sadly there's nothing Howdens can do to fix our issues. If you’re not a trader I recommend staying away from this brand.

At first Howdens tried to come up with a solution to this problem but then cut communication with us without providing any help.

I'm leaving this review so other people don't fall for similar experiences and misleading Howdens marketing.

Please do proper research and go with reputable brands that are able to guarantee high quality results.

We have had a very good experience indeed with Howdens in Charlton. Nassy, our kitchen designer, has been excellent from start to finish. Nothing has been too much trouble and she has been very efficient and helpful throughout. Liaison both with us and with our kitchen fitters has been very good so that we have known throughout the process exactly what is being delivered and when and any queries have been responded to immediately. We would highly recommend.

From our initial visit the staff at Howdens Charlton were really friendly ,helpful and knowledgeable. Siobhan took on our challenge to them to help us find an affordable kitchen for our daughter who had limited funds. Siobhan advised on ways to add features which she felt were important in a modern kitchen but also keep within the budget. Great kitchen -Great customer service - Thanks Siobhan !

I needed to buy a kitchen for a property in Dorset while living in London.Due to an emergency situation there were already builders on site and everything was urgent.I tried a couple of kitchen suppliers with no success In desperation I went into Charlton branch and found Nassy, one of their designers. To cut a long story short, she was the epitome of efficiency. She provided the design and plan quickly. Nassy answered every question knowledgeably, she intervened with excellent advice, she talked to the builders when they rang her because they couldn't get hold of me. Nassy organised the delivery of the kitchen and worktop templating and fitting and everything was as smooth and efficient as possible. She checked in regularly to make sure everything was on target. She owned the project from start to finish and did it with charm efficiency and respect. She is a superb ambassador for the company and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use the company again.
