We are currently recovering from the trauma of having an extension built together with a new kitchen.
One of the few enjoyable aspects of this process was dealing with Howdens Thurmaston
From the design stage right through (the very elongated build) to fitting nothing was too much trouble. The many changes to our order were dealt with rapidly and efficiently. When fitting finally took place everything was on site. A couple of damaged items were exchanged inside 24 hours.
Everyone we encountered, the delivery guys, the warehouse staff and the people on the sales counter were happy helpful people.
Thank you to Tash, Louie and everyone we dealt with at Howdens Thurmaston for making the kitchen aspect of our build memorable for all the right reasons. Oh, and it’s great now it’s fitted as well.

We can't recommend Tash, at the Thurmaston depot enough. She clearly knew exactly what she was doing and we LOVE our kitchen. She had such a great energy, and the whole process was easy and very exciting from start to finish. Thank you, Tash!

Fast efficient service as usual

Just had a new kitchen from Howdens and was really impressed with the Staff(especially Louis Brant) and the kitchen quality and finished product now fitted.

Sheetal, our designer at Howdens created a great design and has been helpful and easy to communicate with throughout. As might be expected, there have been some glitches along the way of our kitchen being created which necessitated some items being exchanged, but this process was undertaken pretty swiftly. Our kitchen, which looks great and has everything we wanted, is now just awaiting our finishing touches. Sheetal and team, thank you.

Corey from Howdens Thurmaston was very polite, professional, helpful and informative during the process of designing and planning our new kitchen. He has also been very prompt in answering any questions I've had regarding my installation. I will be fitting the kitchen in a few weeks time once other tradesmen are finished and I'm hoping the great service continues should I have any questions or issues. Many Thanks.

A massive thank you to Corey at the Thurmaston branch. Corey came to the house to measure up for our new kitchen. He was very thorough and gave us advice and ideas throughout the planning stage. He really listened to what we wished for and required and his first plan was spot on. Thanks for your patience Corey i must have changed my mind on colour a dozen times. Top bloke. Thanks to the rest of the staff who are also very helpful.

Just had our lovely new Howdens kitchen fitted . Everything from the design /delivery through to fitting went really smoothly. Fitted by Dave Rose and we are delighted with the result. Highly recommended.

I purchased a kitchen from Howdens last week and everything was pretty much bang on sizes were perfect. Kitchen installation went in perfect to the designer of Shetal and she done a brilliant job designing the kitchen and utilising my space correctly. Really happy with the service and quality of kitchen well done to Howdens and Shetal.

Dissapointed is an understatement for this company, to think a company like Howdens can mess up a small space is beyond me. I picked Howdens over Magnet and DIY kitchens (who Sheetal told me not to go with as they are rubbish but im not sure how Howdens are much better - to comment on another company when i'm having to leave a negative review for your service is quite embarrassing...).

Where do i start... the missing items that they forgot and i had to pay extra for...or shall we begin with my utility room. Sheetal at Howdens Thurmaston, a Kitchen Designer might i highlight, designed our main kitchen beautifully (some missing parts that i had to pay for) but otherwise great job. Which is why it begs me to question how you could mess up such a small space. She designed our utility room as if it was twice the size, then when the fitters installed it we had no space to walk to the other side, the space was always going to have double door fridge, yet the fridge was halfway sticking out.

Once we complained and told her/Howdens Thurmaston, i was told its our fault for not telling them throughout the process and that they can't do anything because we didn't tell them sooner. I understand that, but surely you can look at your measurements and then look at what you've designed - question - is this practical? Guess what, it was not practical and who had to pay the extra costs to get their kitchen done in time? We did! And guess who took 0 accountability and gave the worst customer service - Howdens did! Both the Thurmaston depot and the HQ in London, to sum up the service, empathy for a customer who has paid ALOT and willingness to help, it was truly disgusting.

All i asked was where on earth did that initial design come from?! And how can you design something so impractical?! I understand we didn't complain during the process because we were so focused on fixing Howdens initial mess up...but as a kitchen designer...surely you know and if you don't, it's okay to admit! We all make mistakes!

I've also heard from regular Howdens fitters that they regularly make these mistakes and they regularly shift the blame onto their homeowners.

And now, Howdens HQ have so kindly suggested i seek my own independent advice and that they will not be responding to me anymore, so i am now worse off financially but on the plus side, my mum was able to rectify the design and designed the utility space much better than the paid professionals were.

So my suggestion is, use Magnet and use DIY, don't listen to Howdens or other tradesman when they talk down on another trades services, usually their service/product isn't that great if they have to badmouth anothers to get work!
