I have banked with HSBC for many years and generally find them helpful and responsive 24/7. However I was recently very disappointed after I set a large forward payment. When setting up, the name on the receiving account was slightly different. I accepted the anomaly and proceeded to 'payment scheduled'.
On the due payment date the payment did not activate. After instigating a 'chat' and going through all the usual standard replies (very frustrating), we established that the payment had been stopped because of the aforementioned name anomaly. I received no notification of this and had accepted this previously on setting up the payment. I think this is very bad form on HSBC's part. Allowing me to believe a payment was scheduled when it wasn't.
I had to cancel the scheduled payment and immediately then make that payment again - which went straight through.
HSBC, you need to let customers know if there is a problem, not leave them blissfully unaware.

I was very impressed with the service I received today on my premier onboarding call with Shaun. He was friendly, patient and knowledgeable. He patiently answered all my questions and explained the various options available to me in a way that didn't feel like he was trying to sell me something. All in all a very positive experience.

I’m absolutely exasperated and frustrated about a recent ongoing experience trying to contact hsbc. I needed to speak with an actual human being regarding an amount shown on my account to be drawn down by a company I had no knowledge about. I am and was very concerned my account was about to be scammed. I phoned the HsBc number. I was not at home at the time and unable to provide my customer ID, even though I had my account and sort code. i was therefore unable to speak with an actual human being. the ‘bot’ referred me to the telephone number each time.i was going round and round is circles constantly trying every combination I could to speak with a person. It was impossible. I was in absolute tears after hours and hours. my phone was down to 1% from the 100% I started the day with.
I eventually phoned the premier number and managed spoke to a human I was absolutely exhausted and extremely upset. The person I spoke to was sympathetic and explained they receive calls like me about this problem every day. She offered to put in a complaint for me but didn’t sort the initial reason for me call. We ended the call.
I received an acknowledgment and a reference number from an outreach organisation they presumably use to offload customers like myself.
All has not ended there, sadly.
A few days later I recd another email advising my complaint closed. No explanation of what why or how they had come to this decision. I myself did not receive a copy of the complaint the HSbC rep submitted.
It gets worse the email recd does not accept any reply/response from recipients (me). All what has happened (or not) in this case feels like a kick in the teeth.
Come on HSBC you can do better than this. It looks like you actually don’t want your customers input or to actually speak with a customer in genuine distress.
I’m 71 years old recently widowed, I look after myself at home and all my banking and affairs. I have banked with you for IN EXCESS OF 50 YEARS and feel you have treated me like dirt. I cannot drive at the moment due to an accident, I have a disability. The lack of customer focus is astonishing. Shame on you.

Myself and my partner received financial portfolio and investment advice from Jonathan DeBono and Nicola Raymond at the Bradford branch of HSBC.
On each of the three visits we made, firstly with Nicola and subsequently with Jonathan we were both very impressed with the advise provided and the in depth review of our finances.
Both Nicola and Jonathan are an absolute pleasure to deal with. They are both very approachable and took the time to review and clearly explain everything regarding to our finances in a professional manner.

Since HSBC introduced the new login system, online banking via web browser has become unreliable and frustrating. The QR code fails to appear, making login impossible. I can only access via the mobile app and I cannot process many oversea operations. The previous Secure Key system was far more stable and user-friendly. Terrible update, terrible. What a disgrace.

I spoke to Olalekan Babalola at HSBC Derby today and honestly he was very patient with me. I came into the branch wanting to open a credit card for the first time and he explained all the fine details about using credit cards and the options available to meet my needs. I am leaving the branch well informed and opened my first credit card thanks to him. 5 stars!
