Hudson Reed a new name for shockingly poor quality.
Purchased a shower unit for over £650!! One of the most expensive ones they had at the time. Its been 2.5 years and the divertor valve has failed and I am being told that the item is discontinued and cannot get parts for it. Beggars belief that a shower unit this expensive is literally fit for scrap after less than 3 years? if this review had minus stars thats exactly how i would be rating this interaction with Hudson Reed.

Deeply Distressing
Why did I not visit here before choosing my bathroom furniture. Similar to other reports on here the furniture supplied for our bathroom through Heat and Plumb would appear to be not very robust. 2 months old and 3 panels have blown on my various furniture items. I have a well ventilated bathroom and a window. Is it realistic for furniture in a bathroom to exist in a 100% moisture free area, it just feels like a stretch to me, it is a family bathroom.
Response from supplier - Water ingress, warranty does not apply.
On closer examination of the furniture I can only assume that the panels in question are not consistently sealed. It says on the care label water resistant and not water proof, I disagree, if you fully sealed them they would be water resistant. I don't want to put it in the bath but I do want to use the sink on top.
It's deeply distressing to spend hard earned savings on something and be treated in this way. Now my only choice is to either regularly buy new panels in case of any moisture generation in my bathroom or rip it out and try again with different manufacturer. They seem sure it's my fault and not theirs and seem to feel absolutely no shame about it.

Poor quality, no customer care, waste of money and deeply upsetting
Do not buy any bathroom furniture from this company! Purchased a bathroom vanity unit which is under 12 months old and now the front doors are splitting and bubbling.
Contacted the retailer (who were also mightily unhelpful thank you not Heat and Plumb) who forwarded the details to Hudson Reed, who state the damage is due to "water ingress" and therefore not under warranty.
Now the warranty states "General care,
spillages and splashes - On no account should any spillages or splashes, even water, be allowed to lie on any surface. All spillages and splashes should be wiped dry, failure to do so may shorten the life expectancy of the product and invalidate any guarantees.”
I have confirmed that I have taken care of the item, have wiped spillages up, that my bathroom ventilation is well above general standard, even provided them with details of how often I wipe the bathroom down and with what sort of cloth! But the response has still been "water damage, not covered".
So in other words they don't care how careful you are, how much you follow the fitting instructions or abide by the warranty, any defects in their eyes are solely due to you, the customer, not behaving yourself.
Because otherwise it would mean, what - that they produce such poor quality items that even when you do take great care (which I have assured them I have done, having spent my savings on a bathroom refit), the item still fails.
Item is obviously not fit for purpose in my eyes, or else there was a manufacturing defect, or a lack of sealant, which enabled water to enter quickly despite wiping any spillages (and there weren't many on a door I can assure you).
Absolute waste of money, and now I'm going to have to try to find some funds to either replace the whole sink unit or get some new doors made to measure for the unit.
They should advertise their bathroom furniture as not suitable for any room where there may be the presence of water, that might be more honest.
I hate going in my bathroom now to be greeted by such an eyesore. I honesty feel so upset by this experience.
Please look elsewhere if you are wanting bathroom furniture.

Hudson Reed Bath Shower Mixer Failed in 30 MonthsLever…
Hudson Reed BD304 Jade Crosshead/Lever Bath Shower Mixer - Chrome. I bought this item in September 2019 & had it fitted in December 2019. It has now started to leak! It is only 2.5 yrs old. Hudson Reed Customer services told me that they cannot do anything as the item only had a 1yr warranty. This is ridiculous. I didn't buy a cheaper one because I thought that Hudson Read Products were quality and expected them to last longer. I bought Hudson Reed for all of my bathroom fittings! Very poor Customer Service.

Our shower screen (M1000SS-E8 Apex sliding shower door, clear, 1000mm) shattered recently without warning. We was downstairs and it sounding like an explosion going off. We ran upstairs and was shaken and shocked to see the devastation within our en-suite bathroom. We have contacted Hudson Reed, 4 days ago, and are still awaiting a response. We believe the item has a lifetime guarantee and would not expect this to happen after 3.5 years of installation. We can not bear the thought had we been in the en-suite at the time of this happening. We have noted the exact same thing happened to another review on here March 2022 and believe this is 100% a safety issue that needs to be rectified. Thank god in this instance no one was hurt (apart form cut hands clearing up the carnage.)

I purchased 2 shower units and 5 taps. They all look amazing but at only 3 years old not a year goes buy where 1 doesn't break and something has to be replaced. We are now on our 4th shower valve, I really don't expect to be replacing parts so often

Stay well away ... got a light scratch on vanity unit top panel . . Hudson reeds refuse to sell another panel but will sell a full unit . Only company in UK which won't sell a replacement facia......I will never use them again ... 30 years experience and never known a company to refuse to sell a panel . As reply the facial are manufactured so I assume they cheap imports as they cannot manufacture a flat gloss facia panel ?? Expensive mistake . Stay with local manufacturers.. even wickes would sell you a facia front lol

Exploding shower screen
My shower screen M80EP-E8 shattered recently without warning when I wasn't even in the room. After hearing what sounded like an explosion upstairs I discovered the damage and was quite shaken by it. I reassured myself that as this has a lifetime guarantee, I would be able to get a replacement. How wrong I was. The response was quick but the content of the reply I received was so automated and unfeeling with no show of compassion for the traumatic incident. I was told that the 'lifetime guarantee' was for manufacturing defects and that I was not eligible for a replacement as it is probable it was damaged during installation. I do not accept this as it has been installed with no problems for 3 and a half years now. As far as I am concerned it is also possible it could have been damaged in transit and I am left questioning what use such a lifetime guarantee is. The company would not even meet me half way and replace it at cost price. The supplier I purchased it from (Homesupply.co.uk) were very helpful indeed in trying to mediate and resolve the situation but I am afraid I have now had to order from an alternative retailer who could offer me the best price. This has taken 2 weeks of negotiation and I still don't have a useable shower! Shame on you Hudson Reed, I chose a British manufacturer as I thought you would be trusted. You have proved me wrong.
*** THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY JON. Customer Services had been in contact before I wrote this review and FAR FROM resolved the matter. This is why I resorted to writing my review to warn others that your lifetime guarantee means NOTHING ****

AWFUL QUALITY HUDSON REED WASH HAND BASIN
DOOR OF WASH HAND BASIN UNIT HAS BLOWN AFTER 1 WEEK AND APPARENTLY ITS MY FAULT FOR NOT WIPING UP SPILLS PROMPTLY. I bought the Hudson Reed Apollo 405x 360mm Floor-Standing Full Depth Cabinet And Basin from QS Supplies for £ 210.38 in late December. The top of the door was clearly not sealed and water has managed to get in in the week since installation and the chipboard has expanded and the door us ruined. This product is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE - DO NOT BUY ANY OF HUDSON REEDS FURNITURE. They are unwilling to help me replace the door and say it is my fault. I am disgusted as now I have to replace the unit with something of a higher quality and pay a plumber to install.

Excellent customer service
I bought three spare cartridges for my 20 year old shower in case the cartridge needed to be replaced (and indeed used one of the cartridges successfully in the past). When I told Chloe that three plumbers had told me that the spare part I had was incorrect, she confirmed that the spare part was indeed correct, locating the information on her system in a matter of seconds. She also voluntarily - and once again efficiently -provided me with the details of two plumbers in my area who had experience of my shower type. I have no hesitation in recommending this company in terms of their products (still working 20 years later), their helpfulness or their professionalism. Well done!

Bad quality and bad customer service
We are not happy with our shower , mainly with the way the shower head sits and sprays the shower slightly backwards towards the tap, it seems too heavy for the bar, there is a lot of movement in the last joint/arm of the shower hence the bar with the head is drooping. After being assembled and tightened with a spanner it’s still got movement in it.
We have fixed the perpendicular pipe to the wall with a laser level so that is not the problem.
This wouldn’t be such a problem if we could tilt the shower head as we could with our last shower. This one is fixed in one position and sprays slightly inwards causing us to stand further back towards the taps when showering.
Hudson Reed say that it is designd like this. Really? Designed to have a loose pipe? Another nice answer: "The pipe having a smaller diameter than the opening will not affect the use or cause any leaks or damages, it is smaller because if it was too big it wouldn't be able to fit unfortunately."
It gets better: "To return for a refund there would be a 15% handling charge."
This is definitely our last Hudson Reed product, it is not the quality made item you would expect for the price. Gives "Made in England" a bad name.
Had to use our old shower head as it has a swivel joint to make this product work, not ideal.
Our model is: Hudson Reed Topaz Exposed Shower Valve with Rigid Riser Kit - Chrome - £391.96

Very helpful sending out replacement unit
Hudson Reed was very helpful in resolving an issue after we had established there was a manufacturing defect with a vanity unit we bought. We were told to contact the retailer we purchased the unit from, and a replacement unit was swiftly sent and received by us resulting in a very happy client. We are very grateful for the great customer service and would recommend Hudson Reed to other people we work with.

Warped shower tray doesn't drain…
Wish I'd checked these reviews before buying our shower tray.
It looks great but bows in the middle so the water doesn't drain
When I complained the answer was "We have a sticker that says test drainage before installing"
How can you test before installation without making a mess. Other than testing outside then carrying it to the bathroom without the packaging?
The fact they have this sticker must mean it happens a lot. Would have delayed the fitting by a day waiting for a replacement even if the issue was spotted immediately.
Will be avoiding them, Nuie and Ultra finishing and Roxor.
It's too costly to replace now it's tiled in so we will have to squeegy it after each shower.

Bought the Lustre bathroom mirror in…
Bought the Lustre bathroom mirror in October 2020, I didn’t fit it until the December when my en-suite was finished. Only 11 months down the line of it being fit the built in clock isn’t working properly and it’s getting worse, the lights on the numbers are not working so it’s extremely difficult to make out what it says.
I contacted plumbworld about it who I purchased it off and they just replied with it’s no longer manufactured, so I then contacted Hudson Reed twice with not a single reply.
If you are one for buying stuff that breaks pretty quickly and then have to look at replacing 1-2 years down the line then this is the company.
If you are that person who has money to burn please buy me a replacement too. Thanks.

Broken toilet seat hinge
Broken toilet seat hinge. These are only guaranteed 12 months. Although they state a 20 years guarantee on their products. Contacted the company and told they do not have replacements.
So you have to purchase a complete new seat, which to me seems absolutely senseless and expensive, or purchase a universal toilet seat hinge.

Rusty Towel Rails
Wasn't planning on leaving a bad feedback on Trust Pilot, but tried to contact them privately and got no where. Bought 2 of their white towel/radiators for both our bathrooms, 2 different models. After about 11 months one of them started rusting so I contacted the company I bought them from and they sent me a replacement one. Months later the other radiator started doing the same and then about a year after the first one was replaced that started rusting. Both bathrooms have windows and fans, so good ventilation. They have now got really bad, so I started to look at replacing them and then realised that they offer 5 year warranty on them and decided to contact Hudson Reed directly. On email explained exactly this (the truth), straight away I was told that the warranty runs from your first purchase so the replacement item only has the remaining warranty left, which in my case is fine as I bought them under 5 years ago. I sent photos and proof of purchase. Got told as I hadn't informed them straight away it would all have to go to QA, which again fine with me. Heard nothing back for a few weeks so I chased it, to get this reply from Rachel:
Morning
After speaking to the QA manager he has advised that the issue should have been reported when the issue started and not have been left to progress and get worse.
Therefore we cannot really replace under the warranty, what we could do is maybe offer a new rad at a discounted price ?
Thanks
My fault as I should have known they were under warranty for 5 years and not only 12 months, but surely a warranty is a warranty, they are bathroom items and they shouldn't go rusty. I have a chrome towel/radiator and it's been there for 15 years and it hasn't rusted. Not sure why companies offer lengthily warranties??.
I Couldn't find how to attach photos, otherwise I would so I could show the state of the radiators.
UPDATE:
Thank you for your prompt reply and for resolving this issue. I have been in contact with Mark this morning, who's been extremely helpful and has advised that the rads have been ordered, they no longer have the white ones but do have them in chrome which is absolutely fine as they might not rust like the white ones have done. Such a shame this couldn't have been resolved privately, but thank you again.
