Bought a Hudson Reed Grey sink cabinet…

Bought a Hudson Reed Grey sink cabinet quality wasn't the best seemed all out of Shape, but they say this is due to transport. 5 months later the coating on the doors are coming apart. Contacted them and sent the photos and guess what it's my fault water ingress. Asked them for the testing information. No answer from them so not sure if the chip board is water resistant. Very poor customer service and quality. They did offer for me to buy more doors but would be charging me. Don't go buy the old saying buy cheap buy twice. Buy expensive and buy twice from hudson reed. You would think that a bathroom item would be water resistant

Hudson Reed Topaz taps

Hudson Reed Topaz taps
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Would have given this product zero stars had it been possible.
They are designed for both crosshead and lever tops so work in opposite ways - fine for levers but extremely annoying for cross head taps as they work in the opposite directions and you end up soaking yourself every time you turn one of them off. The manufacturer's technical assistance is non-existent (they virtually say tough luck but we'll sell you levers) so the only thing you can do is to get replacement valves which work in the correct direction (but manufacturers won't give you the code for the correct type) costing yet more money.
Can't warn you off these enough and only wish I'd read up properly before buying. I'm getting rid of my brand new and expensive taps and won't even sell them on as I wouldn't wish them on anyone else!

We purchased our bathroom fittings from…

We purchased our bathroom fittings from Hudson Reed 15 years ago. We have just developed an issue with shower controls and I phoned up and asked for some help. I spoke to Phil, who couldn't have been more helpful and patient. My issue is now solved, new part ordered and his help was invaluable. 5 Stars all the way for product knowledge and customer service.

Appalling customer service

Having bought a lot of Hudson Reed products for our last bathroom (toilet, basin, floor standing mixer tap and basin tap) several years ago, we decided to buy virtually all Hudson Reed products when renovating the bathroom in our current house. This was a mistake as their Customer Service and willingness to help with spare parts or technical matters is atrocious.

In summary an area of white gloss flaked off one of the drawers of the basin unit during installation and I simply rang to ask whether a. is it possible to acquire a replacement drawer front or b. is there a white gloss touch up product that HR could recommend to cover the small area.

I was immediately shot down and advised that HR don't do spare parts and don't have any white gloss products. I hadn't even given HR the product code for the unit at this point!!

They refused to take any responsibility as manufacturer, instead repeating that any damage had to be reported within 72 hours of delivery. If it was a manufacturing defect it was not apparent during inspection.

I have since used a white gloss touch up product found myself which covers the area up 'okay'. However after spending hundreds of pounds this time and hundreds of pounds for our last project I will avoid buying any products from HR ever again.

Also the toilet seat buffers for our toilet costing more than £350 just fall out.... Clearly a manufacturing defect.

Don’t Waste Your Money!!

I purchased a WC and Basin Unit from their Apollo range thinking I had bought a quality product. An impression gained from their glossy web site. How wrong can you be!

The WC unit was of only reasonable quality but the Basin Unit was unbelievably poor, in a number of ways.

There was no means of fixing the cupboard to the wall. Wall brackets where provided but the mating adjustable brackets for the cupboard were not. It soon became apparent why, there was nothing to mount them too! In the end I had to add a piece of timber to the open back of it to allow both for screwing it to the wall and to support the basin. As sold there was no support for the rear edge of the basin or any method of attaching it to the cupboard.

Additionally, the back edge of the basin overhung the back edge of the cupboard. This stopped the cupboard from being screwed flush to the wall. To overcome this problem I had to use a router to remove 6mm from the front cross rail to allow the basin to come forward enough to make it flush with the rear of the cupboard. It shouldn’t be necessary to do this, especially when it requires the use of specialist tools. The basin should fit the cupboard!

This all smacks of poor design and poor manufacture leading to abysmal quality.

I have worked in British industry for over 45 years, a large proportion of it in a senior design management role. In all that time I have never come across such poor design and integration with parts not fitting to each other as intended. It’s just incredibly shoddy.

I can also confirm that their customer support is very bad. They accept no responsibility and make lame excuses why parts are not as expected.

Save yourself a lot of bother and money and buy from a reputable suppler.

Weeks trying to deal with the simplest…

Weeks trying to deal with the simplest of issues, supplied bracket was too short for the task.
Initially contacted them by telephone early in October to report the connecting bracket for their WRSB250 Wetroom Return Screen was too short. I explained I had two sets of these, one was fine, but for some reason this one was too short. I expected to be provided with a replacement during the telephone call, however, was requested to provide purchase details and photos which I did. The photos show what I had described, however, I was requested to provide addtional photos from a wider angle, which I did. I was then asked to measure the glass screens just in case the bracket wasn't in fact too short, it might be the right size, but perhaps the glass screens were too long and I hadn't noticed. I had informed them I had two identical sets, one of sets of screens already installed perfectly well with the correct length of bracket but they somehow though I was stupid enough that perhaps the screens may be a different heights I had told them over and over and over this bracket was too short. I must confess my final emails were rude, but how many times do you need to tell someone the simplest of things, when you have explained it all over and over already, it was unbelievable, genuinely the worst level of support I have experienced, no exaggeration.
Now they won't deal with me, because I was rude, can't believe the time I have wasted dealing with these people for the simplest of matters, unbelievable. Almost forgot, I spent four thousand pounds on their products for my house renovation.

The product is rubbish for this price and poor customer services.

I thought it was good, but the customer services are extremely poor. The lady were arguing with me, and did not let me speak. She would ask a question, and before I could finish my answer, she had answer my answer. I told her it is design fault, as the head and hand held is at so opposite position, so the shower head had less hot water than than hand held. She blame on handsets, but I removed both headset, etc so there is no blockage to blame. Then she blame the boiler. I said it is megaflo and then she blame the temperature. I said the output temp is 60c. I told her if I swap the head and hand held and if it is hot, then what happen, will you admit there is a design flaw. Of course she did reply to my answer and went off blaming my boiling system etc.
Likewise, why have female connector when the pipeworks are female, waste money to buy connectors.
I will not buy this product again and I hope it last longer than my last one which were 7 years.
She does not listen to customer and predicts what we will say. Will not admit her product has fault. Pointless phoning in for help. Best not to buy this product, stay away.

Incredibly poor quality kit

Incredibly poor quality kit. I have been fitting bathrooms for 20 years and this Hudson Reed shower screen is as bad as they come. I once agreed to fit a direct from China seconds screen and this is on par with that. There is a very obvious large chip to the glass that has had a very poor attempt at a repair. This could not pass even the most rudimentary check. All the runners are poorly molded. It is not even the correct size. Absolute rubbish.

Their website promises quality and…

Their website promises quality and durability with a 20 yr guarantee and a commensurate price tag for a fancy mirror! In reality the mirror silvering was failing within 12 months and clearly not fit for purpose as a mirror in the bathroom.
Hudson Reed claim that it is really only a 12 month guarantee in the small print somewhere overriding their big statement of 20 years.
Clearly a firm not to be trusted and one to be avoided.

its POYLMARBLE so how does dropping an item cause it to lift?

Zero support for the simplest of spare parts -"just buy a new one"!

Although Hudson Reed sell taps with a 10/20yr warranty they don't support the product that long or have knowledge of the spare parts required before that time is up!
Paul in 'technical' seemed pretty disinterested, stating taps are obsolete despite being available from retailers. Suggested I find my receipt from 8 years ago or buy a new bath mixer set (£200+) as HR don't supply or even know about the tiny (5p?) O-rings that they use! Really! A basic small O-ring? No record of the sizes used even. Records shredded ala Banksy? One would expect better.
If you're going to buy a premium product at a premium price expecting longevity, I suggest you buy from another manufacturer unless you want to replace the whole unit for the sake of a 5p washer!
P.S. Notable that, as at this point in time, 3 of the 4 five* reviews are from French/German posters who probably didn't buy from HRUK but HREuro (fr.hudsonreed.com). Hmmm....
UPDATE (May 2019):
I bought a pack of small/various O rings and found one that did the job - rather than follow HR's suggestion of giving them another £200. I won't be shedding tears for the 'customer service' team when this firm goes under!

I purchased a pair of Hudson Reed Topaz basin taps.
They did not turn off in the way one would normally expect.
Upon enquiring with their technical department and being asked to send in several photigraphs, I was told that I could purchase some replacement valves to correct the fault.
These valves cost more than the taps.
In my opinion ,these taps should be checked before despatch and any faults corrected.I do not believe the customer should have to pay to rectify the fault.
There is no information when ordering the taps stating that they turn on and off incorrectly

Superb customer service

Had a couple of niggling problems, including the fact that I'd broken one of the small parts of my shower - the little ceramic circle with hot / cold. The customer service (via their email / website) was the best i've ever encountered. They were in touch the following day and the parts arrived (free of charge to me) 2 days later. Hugely impressed. Dont be fooled by 20 year guarentee

Dont be fooled by 20 year guarentee. Bought shower valve based on the "20 year" headline, thinking they must offer good quality products, and the valve turned up with poor chrome finish, and plastic chrome parts (even worse chrome finish) where other manufacturers would have been brass. very poor quality.

Unreasonably refused warranty and advice

This manufacturer purports to offer a 20 year guarantee on their products. We installed one of their showers last year on which the buttons are sticking and we asked their technical department with what we should lubricate them with. Instead of answering our question, they insisted upon knowing from whom we purchased the shower. Without offering any advice, they simple said that as we did not buy direct from them, they could not and would not help or honour their warranty. This company has a history of rejecting liability because there are a number of similar complaints about them on the internet.
