Would avoid
Will start by saying that I do not receive any satisfaction from reviewing businesses negatively, but in some rare cases such as this, it is well-warranted.
My advice for future prospects would be not to ignore the 1 star ratings on this platform as they are pretty accurate.
Our CEO will be following this up with an honest recollection of the sequence of events leading up to this review.

Friendly and approachable
Jon at Hurst approached us with a great deal with a national paper. He was so helpful and friendly, it was easy to book, pay and supply artwork/copy. We were really impressed with the placement of the advertorial and we'd definitely use Hurst Media again
Brilliant
We've used Hurst Media many times for fantastic competitions, giveaways and articles and found their services brilliant with clear communication and a great team. The sales team are quick to identify different opportunities available best suited to each company's need and we look forward to working with them again.
Easy to work with and a great service all round.
I have used Hurst Media to place adverts and competitions in a number of Health and Wellness features across a wide range of titles for my clients in the natural products industry.
The service and communication has always be efficient and courteous. They are great at highlighting the types of opportunities that appeal to smaller brands that may not be able to book large scale adverts. The reader competitions have been well subscribed and effective.
I would happily recommend the team at Hurst, they continue to be my 'go to' company for this type of advertising.

Contacted us due to the fact that they had an environmentally friendly section going out in the guardian, which fitted very well with Flowers To Yours as we only do environmentally friendly flowers. They helped us gear the content to their readers too, which was very useful. Must say the adverts looked brilliant and worked for us.
Transparent and Professional Service
Transparent and Professional Service. Hannah and team were very clear with processes and communication. Would definitely recommend the agency within the PR and advertising Industry.
First advertising experience
I am very pleased with my first advertising experience through Hurst media. I had a very successful outcome from my advert and obtained a significant list of targeted prospects as a result. The process was efficient, communication was excellent and I am pleased that I obtained value for money. Thanks to Daisy for her help before and after the campaign ended. I look forward to working together in the future.
Great rates and excellent, accommodating service
We own two brands that advertise with Hurst Media and we know their pricing is competitive and they offer especially good (and patient!) service. They are very proactive in offering us relevant opportunities and seem to understand our brands very well. Their design process has been helpful. We enjoy working with them.
(within our company we have extensive media auditing & consultancy experience so we are certain of the media pricing and audience value)
An excellent company to work with
We were offered an excellent deal to feature in the Sunday Times Magazine's Homes & Interiors feature with an advertorial, after a late cancellation. This is the first time we have worked with Hurst Media and it's been one of the most pleasant experiences I've had dealing with a media company in the 15 years I've been in business. No hard sell, great communication with all the correct information provided to make it a relaxed and seamless process considering we had a very small time window to work in. It was a pleasure dealing with Maddie, who has been very professional throughout and I would certainly choose to work with them again in the future.
AVOID !!!!!!
If you're a small business approached by this company with the promise of increased sales and exposure for your business DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE !!!
I was contacted by Hurst Media and offered an ad in the Times Newspaper. I agreed (via email) to go ahead with the ad. I bought a copy of the Newspaper, waited a few weeks & contacted 4 businesses directly who had already purchased similar ads featured in the Times. ALL OF THEM said they saw NO INCREASE in website traffic & NO INCREASE in sales.
I called Hurst Media to cancel the ad booked and was told I couldn't cancel. They include an easy-to-miss, 1 word hyperlink in an email, which links to a contract that DOES NOT ALLOW BUSINESSES TO CANCEL!!!
When I realised I'd been misled and unlikely to receive a return on my investment, I refused to pay. Hurst Media then took me to court!!!
Hurst Media will - of course ask Trustpilot to remove this review, as I imagine they've done with every 1* review. I hope Trustpilot allow prospective customers to read "real"customer's experiences of Hurst Media.
UPDATE...…
Following the post of my initial Trustpilot review, James Hurst - Director of Hurst Media subsequently called and emailed me. It is for this reason I have chosen to edit/update my initial review.
James Hurst gave me the option of featuring my brand in a choice of national newspapers or websites with his company’s support in what he described as “a gesture of goodwill” on the condition I remove my Trustpilot review.
Alternatively, he said I could “simply pay the bill in full, plus late/bailiff fees and receive absolutely nothing.”
I chose the latter. My company has therefore paid £2,052 to the Courts for Nothing!
The reason I declined Mr Hurst's “gesture of goodwill” and instead pay the court fines is because I do not wish to have any association with a business that THREATENS FURTHER COURT ACTION for sharing my feedback about my experiences with his company on Trustpilot!
In his email James Hurst wrote…
“Furthermore we are minded to take legal action against you and your business for your efforts to besmirch and defame my business – we have put you in court once and I can assure you I will do it again if I have to.”
So there you are – two very clear options – one positive option where you get your business published with major news brands…, OR a significantly less attractive option where you get absolutely nothing, a large bill and the next few months paying legal fees defending yourself and your business in court.”
Sites such as Trustpilot exist so that people like myself are able to share our experiences freely. If James Hurst wishes to avoid negative reviews he might want to reconsider how he treats his customers.

Green and Ethical Checklist
We worked with Jack Pariccos at Hurst Media, who helped us secure a spot within the Green and Ethical checklist in The New Scientist Magazine.
We are a small start-up business, and Jack recognised this and helped us reach the best deal possible and we couldn't be happier with the result! Thanks!
Business Owner's Checklist Review
We promoted our business in the Business Owner's Checklist. Hannah and the team at Hurst were really helpful and always quick to respond. Time will tell if we get any orders and a return on our investment, but it's early days yet!
Working with Hurst Media
We're early into our relationship with Hurst, but our point of contact Maddie @ Hurst has been great.
As a busy Ecom manager I get calls from advertisers all day every day. Maddie keeps things short and sweet for me. Never pushy, and always on hand for questions, I feel confident in our future relationship with Hurst because of Maddie.
I look forward to seeing what we get up to next.
