They refuse to honour Consumer Rights
I purchased a brand-new 2025 Hyundai Tucson from Stockport Hyundai, expecting reliability, but within the first week, I was faced with multiple gearbox issues and random engine stalling. Concerned, I immediately reported these to the dealership. Due to distance, I was referred to a closer branch for inspection.
The inspector acknowledged some of the issues but dismissed them as “by design” – a blatant attempt to brush the problem under the rug. Unconvinced, I hired an independent ACE engineer. Their professional assessment confirmed a faulty gearbox with crunchiness—a clear mechanical defect.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, I formally rejected the vehicle within the first 30 days, yet the dealership outright refused to provide a refund or replacement, despite the legal obligation to do so. Hyundai UK requested another inspection which I have declined as this would likely be biased as well.
This dealership is a prime example of great service when things go smoothly, but absolute disregard for customers when problems arise. They are happy to take your money but will fight tooth and nail to avoid accountability when selling a defective car.
If you value honest service, consumer rights, and a dealership that stands behind its cars, stay far away from this place. I will be escalating this further and urge others to be extremely cautious before purchasing from here.
This is my 2nd brand new Hyundai within 4 years and they have both had issues from new. I would advise everyone to stay away from the brand.

I will have to drop the car off for the day.

From day one at the main dealer it's been nothing but hassle
Will never buy another car from this manufacturer

Changing the way you treat customers is far more important.
What warranty?
We've been Hyundai fans since our first two - a Getz and an i20 purchased in 2008, all except the current vehicle from brand new. We have enjoyed the five year warranties on them all, though with hardly any need to make use of them - one paint issue which they sorted with no argument.
Our current vehicle - a 2023 i20 n-line MHEV was purchased by us in November 2024, 18 months old with just under 4400 on the clock - only one owner, so plenty of warranty left.
It soon came to light that the passenger sun visor keeps falling down around 45 degrees, blocking the rear view camera on our dash cam and making it a hazard when getting out of the car as you can bang your forehead on it.
I had it booked in for inspection as a possible warranty issue. Some of the plastic coating on the left bracket had broken off. While I appreciate this is probably not a manufacturing fault by Hyundai - it is a quality issue they should have picked up, being a manufacturing issue by the visor supplier.
The dealer doing the inspection - Toomey Hyundai (Basildon) reported back it was wear and tear.
At less than 5000 miles it's hardly fair wear and tear. With the tiny amount of effort required to lower it or move it to the side it's hardly fair wear and tear. With the limited space available to climb up on to the visor and swing off it (yes I am joking) it's hardly fair wear and tear. Bearing in mind the car was previously owned under the mobility scheme, the owner presumably wasn't up to in car gymnastics either.
The quote to replace and fit a new visor was £288 - for a small metal frame, two screws and a bit of plastic covering and a small mirror - which sounds a bit too much profiteering.
So I wrote to Hyundai Customer Services begging for more empathy and understanding, as up till their reply we've been a firm and campaigning fan of Hyundai who has probably recommended many more sales to friends and colleagues. Their response, having also talked to Toomey Hyundai, was to confirm this is fair wear and tear and not covered by the warranty.
They replied - "I have spoken to Toomey Hyundai who have advised that the area of concern is a fair wear and tear issue and not caused by any manufacturing failure. It may be that excessive force has caused the plastic to snap."
There's not enough room or need to apply excessive force to adjust the visor if the sun's too bright. More likely "it just came off in my hands chief" due to being of unsatisfactory materials and failing Hyundai's quality control checks.
Surely you should expect the visor to last more than the 4400 miles the car had done before I got it, let alone the 5000 it has done now. None of our previous eight Hyundais - one we had for over eight years - had broken sun visors - or anything else for that matter. After the many thousands of pounds Hyundai have had from us over the last 16+ years you'd have thought a tiny replacement fix like this that would be agreed to retain our faith in Hyundai. It saddens me to only give them one star, but on this occasion that's what this failure to serve the customer deserves

We purchased a new vehicle from this dealership and had a small issue with the paint finish (it was very small) they arranged to have it looked at on the very same day by a local body shop but there was still just a very small defect , we returned to Read and was advised by the manager Rob that he was ordering us a new vehicle and to use the one we have until the new one arrived WOW what can I say other than I have never experienced this kind of excellent service from any other car dealerships, from the moment we purchased the vehicle from a very professional and courteous salesman named Mark all the way through to receiving our second brand new car.....I don't normally leave reviews but honestly this car dealership definitely sets the standard for customer service
I’ve been driving a new Hyundai Tucson…
I’ve been driving a new Hyundai Tucson on hire in the UK, and honestly, I can’t wait to give it back. The safety features feel more like a hazard than a help!
The car has braked hard for no reason multiple times, blocked me from reversing out of spaces even when nothing was there, and has even left me half-sticking out into traffic by suddenly braking when I was pulling out. These systems are so overly sensitive that they’ve nearly caused several accidents instead of preventing them.
In comparison, the Nissan Qashqai we had before was far better—so much less stressful to drive. Has anyone else experienced overly aggressive safety features in newer cars? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

My car is still within the warranty…
My car is still within the warranty period and has developed a fault. The hyundai dealer is worse than useless. Have now resorted to taking my car to an independent garage to resolve the matter. First and last time I'll be buying a Hyundai.
Hyundai is a scam
Hyundai is a scam. The cars came from the factory with an original 12v battery, and the label shows a 3-year warranty plus free maintenance, but Hyundai Motor UK took off that label and said that the battery had a 2-year warranty and did not accept that, also saying that that label was labelled in error. My car is a Hyundai Kona Premium EV 150kW 2022. There are two labels on the 12V battery, one on the top and another on the back side. So, if you have a Hyundai less than 3 years old, check your 12v battery labels, and if you have it, just ask for a replacement.
Fake alloy wheels, awful customer service
Purchased new, told it had a world wide warranty. Car wouldn't turn off so they forces me to take all my disability mods out (no one will put back as insurance risk) now need to buy new mods. Alloy wheels are fake!! After 30k kms they have all cracked and started to flake silver revealing crap wheels. Told garages are separate to corporate and taking the car to hyundia garage was wrong needed to contact corporate who told me to go to dealership. Waste of 40k stay clear
Hyundai Tuscon 2025
Actually minus One Star!!! Horrible, Horrible sales service, aftercare service, customer care service & service, service. I ordered my car in January 2024, I waited for 6 months (June) - to be told it will be a 2025 model car, as the 2024 is no longer available, which I then agreed to buy, but after waiting for I accepted the latest 2025.
After hiccups regarding collection I eventually picked up the vehicle end of June. I had the car for 4 weeks drove it maybe 7 days and it broke down at the beginning of August This car just stopped working, the engine started, it could turn on but the wheel was stuck so you could not turn it left or right and all the lights were flashing on the dash.
It was collected and taken back to the show room.
I heard excuse after excuse from the service department, from it needs rewiring, the part is on order, it needs a new module, to , we don’t know what’s wrong with it, to the technical guru is coming to look at it, to, I have been off sick for a week. to it will be ready when the part arrives, to its the wrong part has arrived. I never saw the car again until around the 27th November 2024. They said it was fixed but on the service app it still had an outstanding issue. They had my car for over 4 months. I decided to reject this car and got a full refund. I will never ever buy a Hyundai again. If you have any sense please do not buy one unless you want headaches. I felt deflated, stress, and angry about how I was treated. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES I DID! I should have rejected it asap! Stay away from Hyundai - it’s just not worth it!
Avoid it
Avoid it. You are better off taking your car to a local garage.
I had booked an appointment in Welling well in advance, expecting a thorough diagnosis and resolution of the issue. However, after the technician was unable to identify the cause of the engine management light, I was informed that the matter would be looked into the following day. When I called to follow up the next day, I was told the service department was fully booked and that it could take up to two weeks to address the issue. This was not communicated to me when I initially made the appointment, and I was not made aware that the process could take such an extended amount of time.
Despite the fact that the issue was never diagnosed, and my car was not repaired, I was charged £162 for the service. The following day, I took the car to my local garage, where they identified and fixed the issue within two hours for less money. They also completed the MOT that same day, and the car passed without any problems. I'm happy to provide proof of it if required.
Hyundai assist this side of things I…
Hyundai assist this side of things I had to call on and use as for the car it broke down and dealer looked into buying it back but usual cost 41000 and offers 25ish go on dealer another good move from them as they they say this is strong money I will never buy another Hyundai put it that way anyway it has went faulty so they sent the aa out. This was second time in 4 days once thru direct to aa with a patrol man called Paul who I think it was too cold and couldn't wait to get cosy with the heater on and feet up and fone out to watch his movie. 2nd guy called Darren if they had guys like this I wouldn't have cancelled my account yesterday morning anyway he turned up as Hyundai assist said in time frame and really helped me he checked out things other guy wasn't interested in really got thru it and even got to bottom of 1 fault shame never got him night before would still have been member of aa. Anyway Hyundai assist done good this time.
Great service
I have had Hyundai’s for quite a few years now, and I get them serviced at the Hyundai garage. I always use the collection and delivery service and have been fortunate enough to get Lyn as my collection driver. She is great, and always so kind and helpful, my car is in safe hands with her and she always ensures it gets back to me asap. Super happy with the service thanks to Lyn!
Hyundai is not a viable option
Only buy a Hyundai if you 100% know it will never have service issues. We have twice this year (2024) had issues with our Santa Fe not starting and the wait for a service appointment is a month. So we are paying for insurance and tax whilst not being able to drive our car for two months this year. Will never buy a Hyundai again.
New Tuscon vs Old Volvo
Today, I was very seriously considering buying an 18 month old petrol MHEV Tuscon with 12,000 miles on the clock. We currently have an 8 year old Volvo XC60 diesel auto with over 80,000 miles which we were going to part-ex. Both me and my wife road tested the Tuscon with the sales rep. After getting out, and before he even had a look at our car for part-ex valuation, both of us said absolutely no way would we swap the £10K Volvo for the £28K Tuscon. It was awful. It felt cheap and nasty. It was a top spec example but the ride, feel and comfort was miles below the old Volvo. The DCT gearbox is terrible. Laggy, clunky, screeching the tyres every time you start off. Couldn't believe the difference in quality. Lesson learnt, give Hyundai a swerve stick to quality.
Apalling!!
Apalling!!
The one star is for the car a Hyundai Tuscon which is nice car.
Signed up on 18months Mocean Hyundai contract Sept 22 which ended Mar 24 which when all my problems started!!
I had to contact Mocean not them contacting me about new contract and was given such fob off it untrue like other reviews .. I knew were no new cars as website hadn't listed any in what nearly 10 months and by way still hasn't now well over year ad half. I was told though by so called manager (Nathan) who by way was useless and a liar that they were changing insurance provider and be listing new cars so in mean time would give me couple month free use of Tuscon till new insurer and cars become available good of him considering i had given them 18months business !!.. He did say that i needed to insure the car though which i did but what he didnt check was that i was already covered under my originally insurance which covered me till Sept 30 2024 which i found out by the original insurer in August who sent me reminder letter , who said by rights they Mocean should refund me the extra insurance i had taken out and didn't need too! they offered £50 as good will gesture when should been over £200 !
They then after what couple months good will free use of car was told by Nathan so called manager !! that re payments would be introduced but guess what still no new cars but would be happening still!
I agreed to reinstate payments Direct Debit from June 24 big mistake as then from June - Sept guess what as many said on here direct debits weren't taken and found out they outsource this what shambles! So i had to contact them again to find out way to pay yes to pay them!! Eventually months later they sorted a payment link.
I was told in August after all this messing around that guess what car needs to come back end Sept when insurance runs out surprise surprise (dodgy) and no new cars available after saying new insurance company and cars coming online !
Car went back end of Sept immaculate as good as it looked when delivered but month later got email saying rear passenger door had dent and tried to pull fast one and charge me for it without first checking with collection agent and paperwork signed that had no dents ! Again (dodgy!)
Sent emails to Hyundai MD Ashley Andrew (never replied, not interested, missing in action) and tried to speak to someone in Letterhead Hyundai Head office but nothing the just re directed complaints back to Birmingham Hyundai call centre who not interested , no direct numbers to managers and basically don't care.
Moral of story to anyone still got subscription with Mocean exit ASAP as all they will do is terminate your contract once your insurance comes to end or fob you off and lie to you as the subscription business ending but rather than tell you they cowards will keep you dangling they embarrasment to Hyundai Brand!
Don't use Hyundai
Leased a car kept it immaculate for 3 years, on return they tried everything to pick up on, they couldn't find anything at all but made some small scratches up. They tried to charge me over £600 for the bits. I had also took a scratch, tyres and whell trims policy out over 1000 pound,
DO NOT TAKE THESE POLICYS OUTTHEY ARE MIS SOLD
Needed a new tyre cost me over £100 even with policy I had, and now can't use scratch or wheel protection.
PLEASE BE CAREFULL WHEN LEASING FROM THIS MAKE OF CAR.
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL LEASE CARS WITH NO RETURN ISSUES IN A LOT WORSE STATE THAN THIS ONE AND NEVER CHARGED A PENNY.
Ioniq 5 Lease Nightmare
I have leased an all electric Ioniq 5 through Hyundai Finance and found it to be quite literally the worst consumer experience of my life.
About 6 months in to the lease it became clear that there's a serious fault with the vehicle which causes the battery to randomly drain, meaning that every few weeks I would come out to the car in a morning and find that it had absolutely no power. I ended up calling out the AA multiple times over a 6 month period to the point where it was becoming a running joke with my neighbours. The dealership were repeatedly unable to solve the issue and just kept giving me the car back in the hope that it would stop by itself.
The finance company have been an absolute disaster from the word go, refusing to acknowledge the fault and expecting me to just put up with it and carry on paying. I've now been without the car for 9 months whilst they try to figure out what's wrong with it and they still expect me to carry on paying the lease. I've requested over and over again that they just accept the car isn't fit for purpose and allow me to cancel the lease but they're determined that I just carry on paying for a car that blatantly is not fit for purpose.
Their complaints department have simply sought to drag the process out and have shown absolutely no interest in resolving the matter other than trying to make sure I carry on paying.
I can't emphasise enough how bad they've been to deal with. Please take this as a warning. DO NOT LEASE A CAR FROM HYUNDAI.
Bought a 2024 hyundai tucson executive…
Bought a 2024 hyundai tucson executive diesel in November 2023, was bought in Bolands of Wexford town, traded in a 2021 tucson diesel against it which I had to pay 13000 with it,took delivery of it 2nd week January 2024,first of all I noticed ad blue was not full,it was only a little over half, said this to salesman but he said that's the way the cars are shipped to them and that it would be topped up on the first seevice.this is untrue as I found out later.a friend of mine said it was very noisy also on tickover,I brought it to a garage and they verified with me it was a noisy waterpump, went to dealer and they said yes it was indeed a waterpump noise, they had no waterpump in stock so had to order one which took nearly 3 weeks to come,I went to get it fitted and was told by service manager that I had an oil leak out of the gearbox and they fixed it but asked for me to go back for them to check it was still ok,emailed hyundai in Dublin 3 times but no reply from them, that's 1 month ago, milage on my tucson was 7000 klms at that time,i would be advising people thinking of buying one of these to
think again, will be sharing this on social media if I don't get any word back,I give it a week.1/12/24.still nothin from Hyundai Ireland, also I might add, before water pump was replaced I checked my windscreen washer bottle and topped it up,as the coolant bottle is right next to it I couldn't but notice that it was between min and max but seen as I was going to bolands to get water pump replaced I did not bother to top it up,strange enough when water pump was done the coolant was exactly the same level, if water pump was replaced coolant would be lost as hoses would be taken off, makes you think?
