Cheap. Flexible. Great!

The automated unlocking and locking system makes these guys really flexible. The body work of the vehicle isn't always in great shape, but that doesn't really matter. The interior is always clean and the vehicle always runs smoothly.
I will be using icanhire again.

Couldn't be easier

I stumbled accross icanhire whilst trying to find a van rental by the hour and at first it all seemed to good to be true but a friend than by chance mentioned them the same day so I booked up.

The booking process was easier than the 'big rental companies' and there was a van within half a mile of where I live. The license validation with icanhire took less than 3 minutes and the DVLA were conferenced in to ensue ensure the licence was valid, no restrictions etc.

I collected the van, rang up the collection number and entered my pin and the van unlocked. I was amazed at how simple it was.

Having hired hundreds of cars with the big companies for work I'm amazed at how easy it was, I've lost countless hours waiting at rental check-in desks (even thought they know you are collecting at that time) and waiting for cars to be delivered or collected, this is mind blowing.

Top Tip - Might seem obvious but write down your booking reference number and pin, I was left trying to flick screen on my smart photo as I left the written details by the kettle!

Great service

Hired a van on a Bank Holiday for one day when most hire companies were not open so would have required a 3 day hire (therefore this saved a significant amount of money). The service and van itself were faultless. As others have mentioned make sure you have enough phone battery for returning the vehicle!

Brilliant, efficient service that leaves it's competitors in its wake!

I could not believe how easy it was to use this service. The initial due diligence that needs to be done was quick and easy and handled by a very friendly operator. Picking the vehicle up left me feeling nervous about whether it was going to work, I shouldn't have worried at all. The collection was quick easy and painless, and I didn't even have to deal with the grumpy person behind the desk who issues your keys as if they have done you the biggest favour in your life! Handing the vehicle back was just as easy and slick too. The great thing about this service is that it works around your timings, and there are no prolonged process when trying to get hold of the vehicle. Brilliant brilliant brilliant!

Very easy hire in Central London

I needed a van for a couple of hours whilst I moved house from central to north London. Picking up and using the van was extremely easy and very, very well priced; just £27.00 for the two hours.

The one small issue I would have is lodging a body check report (if there is damage to the vehicle that is not listed) which eats into your rental time.

Good value

The van I got was a bit battered, a couple of things will need attention, which I told them about, but it did the job and ran well. I found the customer service very good (although I had no major problems to put them to the test); it could take a little while to get through on the phone but I can live with that for a low cost hire.

Brilliant service!!

Never used them before until today, and wow what a brilliant company, plus very reasonable priced, the automatic service is just ideal, and made it so easy to collect and drop off, would highly recommend them.

Simple, quick and hassle free

By far the easiest way to rent a van out there. The van was a brand new transit, drove really well and was at least £20 cheaper than any other van hire company I could find online. Just phone an automated number when you're at the van, enter your driver id and pin number (all texted to you) and then you're good to go.

poor customer service when things go wrong

We hired a van to move some large items. Had arranged for my mother to stay over to look after our child and planned to spend the day on our task. Picked up the van fine and went straight to the garage as it only had 1/4 tank. We couldn't get the key in the fuel cap lock. Searched the entire van for another key but there wasn't one. Tried calling the number provided and chose option 5 to speak to an agent. It just rang and rang. Ended up in the garage for 45 minutes trying to get through to someone. When we we eventually managed (by calling the hire team number as the one provided did not answer), they were useless. No apology and their solution was to call the breakdown company which had a 90 min wait. By this time we had had the van for well over an hour and got nothing done. Waiting for breakdown etc would have meant losing half the day. No offer of an alternative van. No explanation of why there were no agents available. Ended up returning the van and not getting our stuff moved. So annoyed and won't be using this company again

A most use company

This way of hiring is brilliant, they call u back to confirm ur driving licence details then u collect the vehicle! Collecting is easy! Definitely worth use and worth the money, cutting out t middle men is always good! Would use again in the future!

Quick and easy

I found it very strange at first as to how it all worked but to be honest it was so quick and simple I would definitely use them again!! I booked the bam at 3.30pm and picked it up at 6pm the very same day. I would defiantly recommend this company!!!!!!'

easy although I had complications leaving the van back because my phone died

Its a great idea but once my phone had died after traveling with the van all day and then I couldn't leave the van back until I found somewhere to charge my phone then call again to lock the van, mostly my fault but just be aware to keep some battery! Because you are alone in a car park if theres any complications.

But I would definitely use them again over the bigger overpriced companies.

Excellent idea, excellent service ... job done!

I needed a van all day on Saturday and none of the 'big name' rentals could fulful a whole days rental. I'd never heard of icanhire but Google had! I checked a couple of reviews which appeared really positive so I went for it. Not only was a van available but at a much better rate and for the times I needed it. Easy to use service which I will definitely use sgain!

Very poor customer service, very poor grasp of english language.

Hired a van for 1 day, the collection was fine, however the van was left with less than a 1/4 tank of fuel (15% to be exact, which i was informed by text). After i collected the van i attempted to add an additional driver to the insurance. The only way to do this was fill out a form online, as there is no number to ring them on direct. I filled out this form around 9am, and had to wait for them to ring my friend back to confirm his details with the DVLA. This phone call never came. After 3 hours or so i emailed them to ask what was taking so long, I had to email them as they provide no contact number. Shortly after i received a reply saying the issue had been resolved, even though there had been no phone call from the DVLA. I logged onto my account to see the list of permitted drivers, but my friend was still 'pending' conformation. Several similar emails (and hours) later, at around 8pm that night i was told they would not be able to add the driver until the next day. By this time i had driven nearly 400miles myself, with my friend sat in the passenger seat, unable to drive legally. The email support was pathetic i can only assume they were hitting the reply button and not even reading the email. They also refused to call us or give us a number to call them.

The next day i put the right amount of fuel back in and left the vehicle at the drop off point. I later received an invoice of £6 for an extra 3litres of fuel, in the invoice was a contact number. When i rang them for an explanation for the fuel and why the additional driver was not added, i spent 25minutes on hold waiting to speak to some-one. When they finally answered I dealt with a woman with a very poor grasp of the English language, who either couldn't understand what i was telling her, or wasn't listening (she did actually admit after 5min she wasn't listening to what i had been saying). The explanation for the fuel charge was that - they have a system to measure the fuel exactly (i gave it back with 3% less), as a customer you don't have access to this info, you just have to give your best guess with the fuel gauge. They also charge you £2 per litre for fuel. As for the additional driver, she could give no explanation as to why they never called to confirm his details. I asked to speak to the manager but he refused to come to the phone.

They offered me £10 off my next hire, but i told them i would never use them again. Im not sure they are incompetent, rude, stupid or don't understand English, or a mix. If i had not wanted to add a driver this would have been a better review. If you use this company don't expect any support if you have an issue of any kind.

Great service overall but some things needs to be improved

I would definitely recommend this company. The prices were very competitive and overall experience was positive.
It was quick and easy to book the van. icanhire organised a conference call with DVLA in seconds (who you can never get on the phone when you need them) and I was ready and set up in about 10 min.
Finding the van was easy as I live in the area and knew where it could be as there are not many places without parking restrictions.
The thing I didn't like is it took me about an hour to assess all the old damage of the van and check if it was logged already and because it was unclear I tried to phone but because it is an automated system I'm not sure if all details are recorded correctly.
The van itself was 09 reg and just 72K on the clock but needed a good clean inside out.
The other thing that was annoying and distracting was the key safe which door wasn't tight when locked and was banging through the whole time and especially when you go over a bump or pot hole.
Another thing I didn’t thought of at first was the fuel price as this eventually added another £20 on top of the hire price but it really depends on how many mile are you going to do. Still some incentive for low mileage drivers would be really good.
Now the good bits :)
The van was fine mechanically and it was easy to drive. I was amazed of the turning circle. This van was much more manoeuvrable than my Z4.
The van I got was a Transit 280 and I’ve hired it to help me with a flat move. It managed to get all of my stuff that I’ve accumulated for the last 6-7 years in just 2 loads and even though it was full to the brim it was still very good on fuel and it was holding the road quite well.
Another good point was the customer service. After reading the reviews I see that I was lucky to get hold of them every time and I had to call them a few times.
They were always helpful and friendly and after I phoned them to extend the hire time I was told there is nothing to pay as the van is free for the rest of the day and I have already paid for the full 2 days so a big Thanks to the team and a smile on my face.
Would definitely use them again over zip car and I would be cancelling my membership with zip.

Top quality service

After looking at many van hire companies, I finally came across icanhire. The website was very clear to use and very helpful with the van diagrams and measurements meaning I was able to book the right size van. The price was very fair, much better than other companies. Also, their range of locations was extremely appealing with 7 different pick up locations in a 3 mile radius of my location. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and I will definitely use icanhire again and cannot recommend enough. Too class service.

Very helpful and efficient

Everything went smoothly with the van hire. I was a bit nervous about getting into the van, but it all happened as they said it should. I had contact with the company twice and on both occasions, had speedy help from people who gavea good impression of the company.
