From hero to zero

I have been a long time user of Icanhire and had found it a convenient way to access a van when needed. In the spirit of cooperation I always made sure that the vans were not abused and returned as and when required. Because I regularly used the service I developed a rapport with the staff and found them to be helpful and courteous. I am a man in mourning why? Because I no longer am able to use the service. This came about after my penultimate use of the service. I required the van for an extra day but was informed that it had been already checked out however there was another van not too far away so I arranged to use that after returning the van I was in. About two weeks later received an email from staff enquiring why I had not reported the damage to the van, I couldn't quite make out what they meant so I called them and they forwarded me pictures of damage to the roof of said vehicle which incidentally had been photographed by one of their maintenance staff approximately 30 mins after I had dropped it off. To be quite honest there was no way that damage could have gone unnoticed by the person who had caused it. But all the same it was on the roof so anyone picking up the van would not as I was be looking at the roof line for damage maybe they should. After initial talks I was led to believe that icanhire would pursue those who had used the van prior. Not so soon after received an email requiring me to fill an accident report sheet I refused/failed to do this as that would mean that I would be admitting liability. In a bid to help with the investigations I managed to get CCTV imagery approximately 20-30 mins after picking up the van showing the damage to the roof I informed Icanhire of this and was told that would not be any good as it was not taken before I had taken the van. Since then I have received a pro forma invoice from icanhire to the tune of £5600 for replacement of a new roof with threats to recover this amount if I do not pay up in a specified time. Since then unspecified amounts have been removed from my debit and credit cards . Firstly £50 then £100 and today I found out £522 had been removed from my credit card. No invoices no receipts no log on my account have been made so it would seem that they are using my personal accounts as they see fit with no records to inform pre or post withdrawal. A service which proved to be invaluable to many has shown its true colours when money is at stake. Would I recommend these guys to you Yes I would, but something fundamentally wrong has occurred in this situation

Extremely frustrating customer service

We were moving house last weekend. Everything was ready to go and we were excited about the big move. Then we had a terrible experience when it came to hiring a van with Icanhire! We drove to the van and it did not open, we called customer services (no human beings) I was on hold for 33 minutes and when I got to the front of the queue they hung up! After a response via email we were then redirected to another van which was 30 minutes drive away. This van also didn't open for us. We had wasted more than 2 hours of our day on a wild goose chase. Both of us were feeling very stressed at this point, and extremely frustrated. I had heard good reviews about this company so was willing to give it a go. We will most definitely NOT be using Icanhire ever again.

Fab, easy and convenient service

Great rental. I hired a van from the end of my road. It was really easy to do it all.
So convenient that I recommended to a colleague and we hired a second one from a different location the next day. Extending it was super easy too. Will def use again !

Convenient and with great price

I have hired 4 times from two locations. The service is very convenient particularly as you can return the van anytime.

Whilst vans are not the newest they have been reliable and economical.

Will definitely use again.

High quality vehicles, easy to rent, clean AND fantastic value.

I hadn't used icanhire before but the online rental was quick and easy. The book king confirmation over the phone was speedy. The price was excellent value ( I had a Luton with tail lift) and the vehicle was clean. The automated unlocking service worked swiftly. I will definitely use them again and will actively recommend them to my friends and colleagues.

Simple and convenient

This was my first time renting a car from icanhire. The process was simple and very convenient as everything is done over the phone and the car is collected from a location nearest you. The vehicle is locked and unlocked remotely and it's a totally hassle free experience not to mention the amazingly cheap rates.
I'm definitely won't be looking anywhere else when the need arises.
One more thing, please return the vehicle in a clean and tidy condition and free from noxious fumes, as this can be a turn off to others using the vehicle immediately after.
Let's not spoil a good thing.

Excellent service!

From the moment I started the process on the internet to book the van, the speed and service to complete the booking took minutes. There is even a conference call with DVLA as part of the process.
The instructions for van collection were clear and the radio signal lock/unlocking system is a great idea!
I will definitely use the van again - it saved me £50 on a day rate with other companies.

Totally stress free, great value and amazing customer service!

I hired a van over night to move house. Was incredibly easy to book, customer service brilliant. Instructions for picking and dropping off the vehicle were very clear and when I needed to extend the time I had hired van for it was simple and at no extra cost to me. Made moving home that much easier as I had enough stress as it was! Can't recommend enough, would definitely use again and was such great value. Thank you icanhire!! :) :)

Brilliant service, simple to use & great value

The icanhire service is brilliant. There was a van around the corner from our house when I needed it, the sign up process was easy & efficient, the van was in good condition & the whole process was seamless. To top it all off, the rental was great value too. Definitely a service I will use again.

easy and convinient location

first time user....very smooth service....I chose icanhire for location as pricing is the same as any other large hire company (although I was told prices are going up this week), comparing the damage on van to the damage log was quite difficult as there were so many dents and scratches, external damage is not a problem but the cab was really smelly and this was not nice at all (seats need a good clean), overall I would use this service again but it will depend on how much the price will increase

IcanHire the best and the worst of van hire?

I have used Icanhire 3 times this week.

The first time the van still had rubble, glass fibre matting and piles of dust in the back. While driving the cab filled with dust which mingled with the smell of the leftover food from the previous hirers - the van left me with a bad tasty taste in my mouth and a cough. They automated text message claimed the fuel tank was full - when it was in fact nearly empty. The whole experience was unpleasant.

The second and third times I used Icanhire this week - the van was clean, everything worked as it should. I took a short walk from my house, picked up the van and sailed away.

Based on the first experience, I would not recommend their vans to anyone. On the experience of the second and third times, I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Marmite

Reading the reviews people either love the service or hate it, well I, like the majority, loved it. I rented in Ruislip and everything went very smoothly. I think now I have learnt the process I would enjoy renting a van from icanhire again. Less hassle, more convenient and reasonable than renting from a depot, also cheaper than getting a man with a van, which seems to start at £50. The wife been asking for 5 yeas when I'm going to buy some doors for the ikea pax wardrobes, well now I have no excuse.

ROBBERS, THIEVES, PLEASE DO NOT USE

I would recommend they get shut down! I used them to move and it was a mission to find the van and the keys, the van was in a bad state of repair and the fuel was on red I managed to get it to the nearest petrol station and filled the tank up, the van run ok for about 20 miles on the way from ilford Essex to northampton it started juddering and playing up I was petrified as i am pregnant and I thought the van would break down on the motorway, it just managed to get me to my destination and had to refill the van again, I was so distressed at this point I was sick, I got it to my new home and turned the engine off, we unloaded the van and went to start engine again and it would not start I was very upset and stressed as I had children to pick up in Essex, I phoned ican van to explained what had happened it took me an hour to get through to them from mobile I was so angry I was crying, I finally go through and they was not helpful at all I told them that it would not start and they need to get it recovered I managed to get a ride home with my dad after locking van by remote locking from there end and left it there. They recovered the van within a couple of hours. Two days later to my horror they had taken £150 out of my bank account then over a few days they had stollen £900 pound out my bank unauthorised I was so angry and upset it left me with no money to pay bills and buy food for my children, I reported them to the fraud team at my bank who then got my money back thankfully! Two months later after I had changed my card details they STOLE another £300 pound from my account by somehow using my old card details, my bank credited the money back in to my account strait away as the Fraud department was aware of the past events. Please do not used ican.

good until it goes wrong !

Used them once before no problem but today I arrive and there was no van, I called the number and that's where the problems start. I went into a long phone queue and over 10 minutes later I spoke to someone who did there is a problem. Really! I ended up with a Luton instead of a transit but he said I could have the hour from the current time, omg Thanks, when I complained they added an hour free. The next problem was returning it as I didn't have a pin to lock that van again another phone queue in which case I drove 4 miles home while I was in the queue and got through after 15 minutes I told them I'd left it and they said could I hear it lock and I said no as I wasn't there. I seemed to have spent more time in a phone queue than using the van. As I say used them before and it was fine but when things go wrong it's time consuming.
