I am certainly a geek when it comes to dog body language and we, as humans, can never stop learning about it. Apart from a few video glitches, the course was very informative, enjoyable and easy to follow. Questions were answered efficiently and in full. I would certainly recommend this course.

I really enjoyed this course, and have already found what I learned useful in my dog ‘home boarding’ setting. Some of the information confirmed what I thought I instinctively knew, but having it reiterated was really helpful. I also gained knowledge about non verbal behaviours that I didn’t previously understand, and I am now noticing such signals in my day to day experience with dogs. The presenter was engaging and made it so interesting. We all loved the appearance of his own dog 💙 My only reason for not giving five stars would be that some new video footage would enhance the course, but I understand that it’s not easily captured, and the presenter did ask us to ‘donate’ anything relevant if we had any footage.

With 3 different professional instructors, each training slightly different, enabled all attendees to achieve results, as far as I could see.
I really enjoyed my experience learning more tools to use whilst working with dogs.

The 4 Day Instructors Course was brilliant. Everything explained in detail by hugely knowledgeable instructors. Really enjoyed it and learned so much. Would highly recommend 👏⭐️

The course tutor was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. As the course was 6pm to 9pm on 4 consecutive evenings the enthusiasm and love for the subject was appreciated. This course covered the science of dog learning, body language, group class planning -all things you would need to know. Extra reading was suggested which I loved. Welcome emails and links came 2 weeks and the day before the course. This gave me plenty of time to print out the notes so I could add extra information during the sessions. The zoom links worked every evening. Course started and finished on time. The course left me feeling enthused about the subject. Good value for money.

UPDATE:
IMDT’s reply to this review is a perfect example of the unprofessionalism I experienced throughout. Rather than engaging with any of the concerns I raised they dismissed my feedback as “rude” and “inaccurate,” while completely ignoring the substance of my complaint and then go on the attack blaming the victim of their behaviour. If this is how they respond to fair, evidence-based criticism in a public forum, it says a great deal about the level of professionalism students can expect behind the scenes.

Original review:
I enrolled in IMDT’s Level 4 course in good faith, expecting evidence-based, critical training in canine behaviour. Instead, I found a dogmatic and ideologically rigid framework masquerading as positive reinforcement. The tutor feedback was vague, repetitive, and unconstructive — mostly along the lines of “add more detail” with no actual guidance, creating a loop of resubmissions without meaningful learning or progress.

When I raised these concerns and requested a refund for the Level 5 course (which I paid for in advance but never started), IMDT refused. Rather than addressing the issues, they became defensive — insisting their marking was clear and that writing about case studies or watching webinars was sufficient practical experience to be called a “behaviourist.” In my view, this is misleading and risks setting a dangerous precedent for dog owners who assume graduates have hands-on, supervised experience when they do not.

They do not publish critical reviews on their own website — which is why they appear to have a flawless 5-star rating — and I suspect they’ll reply to this review with the usual defensive script: claiming they aren’t dogmatic, their tutors are experienced, and that in-person training isn’t necessary. That kind of attitude is exactly the problem.

If you're looking for genuinely rigorous, balanced, and practical behaviour education — I recommend looking elsewhere.

I was about to book on this course but have been put off seeing that the directors wife, and ex director has been banned from owning dogs which means that my course fee would be contributing to paying their fine for being banned from owning dogs.

My question is, if she is banned from owning dogs, how does he own a dog if he lives in the same premises?

The day was broken down so that it was easy to understand and very informative. It really added value to my training knowledge and although I am not a behaviourist, it gives me information that can overlap into my training classes.

A very interesting and thought-provoking course that gave me plenty to reflect on and explore further. The content was well-presented, relevant, and opened up new ways of thinking about dog behaviour. I’d highly recommend this course to anyone studying or working with dogs – whether you're just starting out or looking to deepen your understanding.

I much enjoyed Mustafa’s training during the "2 day career as a dog trainer course" which I attended by zoom over 4 days. It was informative and taught in an engaging, caring way which made it a moment to look forward to. It’s fantastic to have an experienced trainer and teacher (Mustafa) obviously so keen to share as much as he can albeit in a short time! He was also extremely patient with all individual questions which helped everyone, the community of students was very friendly. I fully recommend this course!

Having completed x2 training courses now with the IMDT, the knowledge and style of learning has been unreal, a special shout out to Mustafa Ozmus whom I have had the absolute pleasure of learning from so far. (next one booked is cannine to human aggression) highly recommend the classes are mixed knowledge levels from dog owners up
