This has the potential to be a…

This has the potential to be a wonderful hotel the grounds are impressive as it's the infrastructure.

However the problem lies with the management. We had a problem, no hot water in the shower. We under stand that things go wrong, we gave them a couple of days to fix it. Having done a bit of work on water systems I understood where the problem was. I could see thier staff could not fix it. They should have just moved us and got the work done. It took 7 days endless conversations hours of waiting in the room for the fix. Nearly a full day on the day to move us. Meanwhile we had water flooding through the ceiling in the middle of the night with one fix. A horrible smell due to other problems so bad we had to open all the windows and doors. Then as they gave us a key to the new room. Only to find the staff had not communicated the fact we needed two beds. Longer wait until new room found. At this point I said an upgrade of room was now appropriate. The manager then said it was my fault for not communicating appropriately.

The problem is once you start seeing that staff are fobbing you off and making you three problem, you start to seeing lots of problems so here I go.

Only once did the serving staff manage to give us a drink while we were eating any meal. Apart from two meals it would always arrive after the main event. No hot drink with breakfast no water with main meals or alcohol. On one occasion I saw a dinning supervisor pour left over customers drinks into his cup then drink it. Meanwhile the staff he is supposed to be supervising were not giving customers drinks. They could have just let us serve ourselves that would have been fine.

I would say 80% of the food was luke warm, think of the health issues associated with warm food standing for hours.

If you are vegan or vegetarian don't both unless you see it as an opportunity to lose weight. Poor labelling meant I could not trust anything. No member of staff had a clue what I was talking about.Lived on salad with a few nuts.

The fly's some days made me feel sick. I did have an inset tummy for two days.

The cleaning was good.

The rooms were nice and the beds comfy.

On the beach they had a sign about the natural Saragossa. Which was not a problem until the day we had lots blown in. Then the staff made a pile about the size of two large cars. The smell was over warming over the next few days until they moved it. Making about a quarter of the beach unusable. Other hotels cleared it daily and took it straight away.

A real shame I wanted to love.this hotel and just small adjustments would make it outstanding. Having been a manger for years I could see their whole attitude was condescending. Was it two older women travelling together or a general attitude problem.

Stay at a different Hotel.

Stay at a different Hotel.
The hotel was the most unclean I have ever stayed in and the smell of sewage and rotting was unbearable. I have stayed at 3 other hotels in the Dominican and this is incomparable.

Also note if you are travelling there within the next month- the entire reception/lobby/bar area is shut down for major re-construction works.

Beautiful resort but not 5 star at all lots wrong with it

Beautiful resort with 4 lovely pools, nice restaurants and scenery, if only the staff and guests were as nice. On arrival check in took over an hour, we were encouraged to purchase premium stay with no set price, we said no luckily as without even realising we already had use of all premium facilities with our tui booking just not a premium room, then encouraged to go for a timeshare breakfast meeting the next morning, we didnt go but they were very pushy trying to get us to attend, telling us it wasn't for timeshare but it clearly was and this was confirmed by guests that did attend, they want you to invest 30k in the new hotel they are building onsite. Lots of Spanish speaking guests that were very rude and 80% of the staff were rude and unhelpful, when we occasionally got a nice and smiling staff member we felt like it needed celebrating as it was that rare. I speak fluent Spanish so it's not because of a language barrier either. I got shouted at by another guest for "stealing" his table at breakfast because I didn't know making a cross with the cutlery meant the table was taken, there was no other indication the table was taken, he shouted at me in spanish and tried to intimidate me and the waiters and waitresses were more worried that he was ok and had everything he needed offering to get him a coffee, they didn't even ask me if I was ok. The buffet was constantly running out of plates and cutlery with everyone pushing past and bashing into you. Getting served for a drink in the buffet and in the bars was so hard we ended up asking 3 times until eventually get served or going without. Spoons for some reason were a rare sight in the buffet you had to ask for one you didnt automatically get one with the other cutlery. Plenty of sun loungers but maybe not enough parasols, that's just personal preference i guess but it did seem people were fighting for the shade a lot of the time. If you're not premium it can be quite confusing what you can and can't use as there are bars, part of the beach and a pool that is for premium guests only which a few people that weren't premium ended up at and were told they shouldn't use, but it wasn't overly clear just a little sign and also the area didn't look any different or upgraded infact the premium pool was the smallest and loudest and no better than the main pools. There's so many different coloured wrist bands which made it even more confusing, we saw gold, silver, red, blue, yellow and green ones. A lady got attacked outside the hotel, 2 men on mopeds stole her bag and broke her leg running over it while riding off. Another lady caught a male member of staff in her room taking photos of her passport and bank cards that were originally in the room safe. A man got his watch stolen off his wrist when he went to a little shopping centre down the road. English guests definitely get treated less favourably in general there, just for being english even though we are being polite. Overall if the resort was somewhere else in the world with nicer people in it it would be 10 times better. We enjoyed our stay because a holiday is what you make of it and we were just looking to relax but I won't be going back or recommending to anyone. We didnt feel safe going out of the hotel so we didnt do any excursions like we normally would and they were extortionate prices anyway. Through out the resort you are constantly pestered by sellers trying to sell you trips and pestered on the beach trying to sell you all sorts like clothes, sunglasses, cigars, photos with a parrot among other things. 3 times throughout our stay the room keys/cards stopped working and we had to get them changed. There was a fire in a room on the same block as ours which completely destroyed the room due to a faulty plug or hairdryer, no fire alarms went off so we only found out about this by coincidence seeing a post and photos on facebook, left me quite concerned as the lights on the fire alarm in our room didnt start flashing until our last day there and the fire happened on day 3 of our stay, in the same block. Bit of a shambles really, we won't be returning or recommending to anyone.

Generic replies to all reviews

Well the Chief Concierge 'Willie' was reassuring and a great help when it came to our list of complaints, including cockroaches. We received a good will gesture from home and a promise of maybe be getting another small bottle of rum and some answers to our complaints. However, 3 days later we had more cockroaches, and when we tried to contact Willie, he was constantly "unavailable " and no other staff could help. It was mainly about the answers we wanted and never got due to his" vanishing act". A complete disappointment and cop-out by the so called Chief Concierge. He even ignored multiple calls and then a text was sent and he just replied " I'm unavailable".
Now, maybe in the next month or so, we will get a reponse from the Resort, and It will be the generic reply they put on all their reviews.
Thanks for using our Hotel....
Sorry for the inconvenience...
Hope to see you again soon...
Just read all their replies and you'll see what I mean.

Good value for money

Good value for money, i wouldn't say it was a 5* resort but the value for money was excellent.
we stayed 10th Nov 2024 for 9 days as a group of 6 friends. Variety of food was good, the on the grill restaurant in the evening was particularly fantastic - delicious fillet steak! Some staff were very helpful others did all they could to avoid eye contact. Rooms closer to the beach were much nicer and quieter.

Stay away!!

My husband and I checked in to Impressive premium on August 6th. We noticed the air wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible. We had room service delivered for dinner and it was what we expected, just ok. The next day we woke up and had breakfast at the premium buffet. I was shocked to see how small it was. The eggs were runny and the pastries were not fresh. They had cereal and small containers of yoplait yogurt (not what you would expect in a premium buffet) The fruit was not sweet and not appetizing at all. There was nothing premium about this buffet. When we asked the waitress for decaf coffee she had no clue what we were asking for. I understand we are In a Spanish speaking country however my husband speaks fluent Spanish and she still had no clue what we were saying. We went to the coffee shop where workers were on their phones and we had to wait until they were ready to serve us. All these issues aside, rude staff and mediocre food at best we wanted to make the best of it. We headed to the pool. The entertainment was lively and good but here’s the bad part:

Most often than not the workers did not smile and looked miserable. Not a happy environment.

There was a good portion of the day that the entire resort had no water. Imagine having to go to the bathroom and all the stalls had feces in them because you can’t flush.

Several hours later we get the water back. We head to our room after sitting in the sun and have lotion all over us and going in the pool (which by the way was rundown and dirty) we find out we have no hot water. We proceed to take a cold shower, again we are gonna make the best of it.

Still our second day, after dinner we head to the room and now our air conditioning is not working, there was condensation on the floor from the humidity and we now have no water pressure at all. We call the front desk and demand another room, after hours of waiting and having several workers come with screw drivers, they agree to move us ( we wasted the entire night on this). We kept demanding to see the manager who did a great job of avoiding us.

They moved our room to another building and we go in the room and no hot water, no water pressure, and no AC and now there is a horrible septic smell. We were so tired that we just went to bed.

The next day August 8th, we woke up to the same issues, we decided this was not where we were going to stay. We packed up and called our “butler” and told him we are checking out. They came 30 minutes later to get our luggage. We head down to the premium lobby and demand our money back and that we wanted to check out and leave. They stated we had to pay for the two days we were there and after arguing with them they said ok we will refund your money but you need to sign a waiver not Holding them liable for anything. My husband, who is a disabled veteran with PTSD, was triggered and lost it. He felt we should not have had to sign a waiver and they said we couldn’t leave until we did. I ended up signing the waiver which stated they would refund the entire amount. They stated it could take up to two weeks to get the money back. We ended up going to the resort we went to last year, jewel palm beach. I messaged the manager through Facebook that night at around 10:30 pm to see if he had availability and he responded within 5 minutes.

I saw a few people comment on a Facebook page that I believe is ran by workers because any negative comment about the resort is deleted (impressive premium resort and spa fans and guests) some guest were just as angry because they didn’t have a choice but to stay and they ended up with food poisoning.

When we were checking out my husband was angry and was telling the manager, who now decided to show up, that he knows three languages and will tell everyone that they were STILL checking people in even with the issues they were having. She came close to his face and whispered if you don’t stop I’m going to call security. That’s when I signed the paper and we just left. They were still checking people in kowing this resort had these issues.

I don’t think a lot people realize, without hot water how is ANYTHING getting sterilized? Plates, silverware, towels and linens. That resort is a major health hazard and anyone who thinks that “oh who wants to take a hot shower when it’s that hot out” is crazy. That was one of the responses on that other Facebook page. When you go to any hotel at that matter a certain level of basic needs are expected… like running hot water and air conditioning in a Caribbean destination.

Hopefully they shut down and upgrade this resort before something happens to a guest.

Update: A week later and we are still waiting for our refund that we were told we were going to get and signed a disclaimer stating this.
