Stay away from IMSI Design – poor software and absolutely terrible support

My experience with IMSI Design has been nothing short of a disaster. I have rarely encountered a company that treats paying customers with such indifference. Their software – especially DesignCAD – feels unfinished, unstable, and technically outdated. But the real problem is the so-called customer support, which is practically nonexistent.
Even the registration and activation process is a nightmare. A legally purchased version suddenly refuses to activate for no clear reason. Error messages are misleading or simply wrong, such as claiming an “unstable internet connection” when the connection is perfectly fine. As a supposed workaround, an offline activation option is offered – but the link doesn’t even work. That is not just frustrating, it is downright embarrassing.
The support team takes this mess to another level. Responses are slow, if they arrive at all, and when they do, they are vague, generic, and completely unhelpful. Instead of actual troubleshooting or meaningful assistance, you receive copy-and-paste replies that clearly show no real effort is being made to resolve the issue. As a customer, you are left completely on your own once the payment has gone through.
What makes this especially infuriating is that this is not cheap software. For a paid, supposedly professional product, one should expect reliability and competent support. With IMSI Design, you get neither. Instead, you lose time, productivity, and patience.
Overall, IMSI Design gives the impression of a company that is still selling outdated software while having little to no interest in quality control, maintenance, or customer satisfaction. For any kind of serious or professional work, this software is simply not fit for purpose.
My personal conclusion:
Anyone who values stable software, transparent licensing, and responsive support should avoid IMSI Design altogether. My experience has been consistently negative, and I cannot recommend this company or its products in good conscience.

Avoid this company and their…

Avoid this company and their software.....! Back in 2008 I purchased TurboFLOORPLAN from IMSI Design. I enjoyed using it and build the first plans for a new house and several other things. I wanted to use the old drawings for a new project

Unfortunately the PC was replaced and I wanted to reinstall the software on the new PC, which I could as I kept the package. However, the verification code did not work anylonger and I contacted the company by e-mail on April 17, 2023, where in a return mail was promised that an answwer would be given within 24 hours.
On May 3, 2023 I followed up and I finally got an answer from customer service, which after several interactions ended up with the advice to purchase an upgrade for $129.99 and as they stated "it will read your older files"

I reluctantly purchased the "upgrade", which turns out to be less intuitive and with much less functionality than the old software and it could NOT read the old files, which was the sole reason for upgrading.

I sent them the old design files and they handed the ticket over to the technical department - no response yet - after 12 days......

Bad software and bad customer service!

Pay your money and take your chances...or don't.

Bought the full DesignCad3D a few years ago and an up-grade to 22 early this year. This December, it wouldn't start and said I needed a new authorization code despite it working previously. Emails and two trouble tickets got no reply despite screen shots with my license in it. Moreover, the previous purchases have been deleted from my account. Apparently the tech "Cory Ower" is the only one assigned to this and isn't working, at least not on my ticket.
I needed to access my previous drawings and start a new one before Christmas so I bought DesignCad2D on Black Friday. Little different interface but the files are the same. IMSI is quick to to make a sale for their software but support for prior sales is non existent. If I had more need, I'd use Corel or AutocadLT for a better interface and more reliable. User forums are stale as are many of the webpages. As it is, I'll be using the 2D to get this project done but any glitches with my $40 purchase and I'll just kiss it goodbye. If you need cheap licensed software, this may work for you in a crunch but honestly, I'd look elsewhere especially if you are new to CAD. No reason to go through the learning curve for a product that may not survive the year.
