I recommended a friend to IR and she proceeded to deposit ~$200k and then purchased crypto on the exchange. when she tried to withdraw to a cold wallet IR refused to to allow the transfer stating that "The decision to disable your ability to withdraw crypto currencies was made by our risk and compliance team ... the decision is final, and cannot be reversed - we are unable to provide further details"
Despite multiple comms with support team, IR refused to provide reasons or offer a remedy. This is a terrible response and leaves the client with no option except to leave the crypto on the exchange or sell again and withdraw the fiat; of course IR take their commission both ways. I would not ever recommend IR again!

I'm a New Zealand business customer. I withdrew NZD from Independent Reserve to my local NZ bank account.

Despite IR being registered in NZ/Australia, the funds were sent via an offshore SWIFT route from a Malaysian bank. This was never disclosed during the withdrawal process.

As a result:

the payment was rejected,

I lost time,

I paid return fees,

and IR could not clearly explain why an overseas bank was used.

My bank confirmed the issue was not on their side.

The problem is not the delay - it is the lack of transparency.
Customers are not told that “local” withdrawals may be processed via foreign correspondent banks.

I am not claiming fraud, but this setup creates unnecessary compliance and business risk.
IR should clearly disclose settlement routes before customers withdraw.

I have found the team at Independent reserve very warm and helpful as well as timely in their help. Definitely will recommend.

I have accounts in 3 Australian exchanges and Independent Reserve is the one I most trust. The others I use only for trading obscure coins. One of those was recently hacked & I lost all my funds. Their level of security was at amateur hour. I wrote to them explaining how Independent Reserve secured their customers funds as an example of how few trip wires scammers needed to cross to steal. Especially if you have a SMSF don't play around with flashy we have 2000+ coins that may or not be available to you depending on our ability to source them from a third-party.

Beware of this crypto exchange platform in Singapore which is so called approved and regulated by MAS !

Funds transferred in to purchase cryptocurrency but when trying to withdraw it out, they will give many different kind of standard replies and will hold your money until their checks has been done.

Worse part when you try to get them to expedite it they will reply you with a scripted reply.

My funds are still stuck with them and up till now there is no update on their back end and when I ask for an update they will just tell me that their backend so called different department needs time to review !!

PLEASE BEWARE ! REGULATED BUT HOLD CUSTOMERS MONEY WITHOUT REASON !

This crypto trading platforms may hold your funds without any proper cause and they refuse to release your funds when you are trying to withdraw

Even after proper documentations for KYC has been cleared they would find different reason to hold your money in the account

I do not recommend this platform and I will be lodging a formal police report against them

Customer service is bad as you can't contact anyone directly via call and they only reply you via their support channel and the worse part is when you want to speak to their manager they just blindly ignore your question

The process was straightforward and simple. Perfect for me as I like to keep life simple.

dont use this app if you want to receive any payments from people. customer support tries to spin it into a story where MAS forces them to reject all third party payments to make their laziness to work with certain restrictions look better.

They take ages to reply between messages (within the same chat) and each time it's a different person whom you have to re-explain everything to.

Withdrawal fees (to other crypto wallets) are also high. Arduous verification process requiring bouncing between multiple support persons and explaining what I intended to use the app for only to end up with such a disappointing outcome after being verified is a shame.
