The trip is amazing in many respects, the star that is missing is due to the road system in Zimbabwe and because of that, couple of days were spent on long bumpy drives with very limited activities. B... See more

I went on an Intrepid small bus tour to North island of New Zealand and it was really pretty with lovely towns we stopped at on the way. The activities that were organised were fantastic and the places we stayed and places we ate were really nice. The tour guide we had was so accommodating and helpful to make our experiences rememberable. I highly recommend to use this company.

Cycle tour around South Korea 🇰🇷 was excellent value for money. I got to see a lot of the country while doing exercising. Very knowledgeable local guide. 👌I was able to immerse myself in the local culture. 🙏🏻 I’m hoping to do more trips with Intrepid in the near future 🤞

Vietnam
We had the pleasure of having Minh as our guide in Vietnam, and he was absolutely outstanding! He took us to amazing restaurants, shared incredible knowledge about the places we visited, and had such a great sense of humor that made every moment enjoyable. Minh was always clear and thorough in explaining our itinerary and the history and significance of each site, no matter the weather. Thanks to him, our trip was unforgettable and truly the best time. We couldn’t recommend him more!
Cambodia
We had a great time in Cambodia thanks to Sak, who was a fantastic guide. He shared really interesting insights about the places we visited and kept everything running smoothly with a friendly, easygoing approach. His knowledge and positive attitude made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We’d happily recommend him!
Thailand
We had a great experience in Thailand with Pornpapit, who led our group for a day and a half. She was friendly, well-organized, and shared helpful insights that made our time even more enjoyable. We’d definitely recommend her!

The Serengeti, Masai Mara, and Ngorongoro Crater are truly spectacular destinations. The wildlife and landscapes are extraordinary, and the overall route is excellent. Intrepid also supports local communities, and visiting those projects was meaningful and well organized.
However, there are significantly better ways to experience these parks than through this particular tour.
The main issue was the accommodation. With the exception of Tukaone, most of the hotels were very poor. Properties such as Sandmark Hotel and Hotel Boulevard in Nairobi are extremely outdated. A quick online search shows rates of around $50 per night with meals included — and that is exactly what you receive: no fan, very hard mattresses, and low-quality food. Even in Kenya, where the experience was better overall, the hotels were only barely acceptable. We had just one genuinely good hotel during the entire trip.
Food throughout the journey was consistently disappointing. Lunches were sometimes as minimal as one chicken leg, a bun with a single slice of cucumber and 1 of tomato. In most locations there are no alternative restaurants available, so you are completely dependent on what is provided.
The safari vehicles were also quite old, although I understand that many jeeps in the region are similar. On the positive side, we had an excellent driver in Kenya, Mike. He was passionate about wildlife, actively searched for animals, and made a real effort to position the vehicle for the best photography opportunities.
Unfortunately, the experience in Tanzania was very different. The team there did not seem willing to make extra effort. For example, one morning it rained and we skipped stops. Later, when we entered Ngorongoro Crater, we essentially just crossed the park without making any meaningful detours to improve sightings. When we asked to try to look for rhinos, we were told there was not enough fuel, even though the tank was about 75% full and we were reasonably close to the hotel. Despite this, we still arrived two hours before dinner. (I will post the GPS track of that “game drive.”)
On another day, a different guide told us we did not have time to visit a viewpoint. However, on the return we made multiple stops so the driver could buy onions for his home. When I later questioned Darlene about it she claim that the road was closed due to rain, we already knew the road was open. The real reason appeared to be that it was a free afternoon and they preferred to return early. Only after being confronted did she take part of the group, and even then, half the group missed the viewpoint.
Overall, it often felt as though decisions were made for the guide’s convenience — either to finish early or possibly to direct us toward certain tourist trap shops.
There was also confusion regarding one optional activity. One member of the group wanted to participate. Initially, Darlene discouraged everyone from doing it. Later, when someone insisted, she claimed that transportation alone would cost $300. However, during a village walk we passed directly in front of the entrance to that activity, which made the explanation difficult to understand.
In summary, the destinations and wildlife are outstanding, and the itinerary itself is strong. With accommodation standards closer to Tukaone and with more proactive, transparent guides and drivers, this trip could have been excellent. As it stands, the quality of the hotels, food, and guiding in Tanzania — and to a lesser extent in Kenya — significantly reduced the overall experience.

IT Systems and Customer Service very frustrating... Payment links keep failing. The account login is very problematic, keeps breaking. I am on the phone queue forever, no call back or resolution... I have now wasted several hours of my life trying to resolve something straight forward...

I booked with a single room onto the Western USA National Parks Loop. Weeks after my booking I’m am informed by email they cannot offer a single room. I’ve called and emailed several times to say I only booked the trip because the single room was available. I’m hitting my head against a brick wall trying to get them to help. If a single room is important to you then don’t book with intrepid! They will not honour it but they will take your money pdq!

The trip led by our local Intrepid guide was fabulous. The guide was super knowledgeable as well as being very easy to chat with. The places we saw and the overall itinerary was fabulous. Would thoroughly recommend Intrepid and Iceland as a place to visit in winter

South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana - with safaris, Victoria falls, Kruger park, the delta - this was such a fantastic experience! Our group leader was amazing and made sure everyone was happy, our cook was fabulous, conjuring up incredible meals on campsites, and our driver was brilliant. I couldn’t fault one single thing. It was the best trip - go for it!

Thwe guide we had was terrific and made sure to meet the needs of all the members in our group. Her knowledge and insights ws much appreciated. Loved the fact that she knew shortcuts to get us into places without having to stand in lone lines. That was A+.

We had a great guide (Moustafa), great group and great locations visited. The itinerary was rushed, lots of driving, lots of places to visit in between. Not the fault of the tour, we had limited time so we picked the tour that fit with the time we had. Everything was beyond expectations. Will definitely book another tour with Intrepid again.

What a fab trip around Sri Lanka on premium tour. Hotels were great. The guide was knowledgeable and so helpful as were the two drivers. The food we had was exceptional and the Sri Lankan people are so so friendly. The traffic was a joy to watch. There’s a clear hierarchy on the roads!! Highly recommend the 9 night tour.

John, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He managed to make the entire experience fun and enjoyable. He engaged with all of us and really took a keen interest in what we were getting out of the tour. He was flexible and even managed to alter our itinerary to squeeze in a trip up to the top of Mt. Wellington a day ahead of schedule due to rain forecast for the following morning. Based on our experience with this trip we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Intrepid. We’re looking forward to reaching out to them for future trips.

I had the most amazing trip to Sri Lanka which far exceeded my expectations. The itinerary was superb; a mixture of cultural, historical and culinary discoveries. The accommodation was excellent and our tour guide, Hashan, was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodated our every need. I could not recommend this trip highly enough.

Every contact with Intrepid including any questions prior were all responded to quickly and direct to my question. The guide Varsha, who stayed the whole 15 day trip with us was completely focused on our group, our safety (crossing roads in Dehli is an experience on its own!), our comfort, any questions about the town, region, country, our personal interests ( some in the group were interested in bird life, some in cricket, others in a variety of particular topics, dietary needs) so Varsha took special care to find and offer extra opportunities to match. So kind. The trip is flat out but goes across Rajasthan and allows access to the highlights so no missing out on great places. Twice it was arranged for us to be invited to local people’s homes to enjoy a meal with them and their family. The driver of our small bus and Mr Ganesh his assistant helped with luggage and travel comfort. Highly recommended and planned for comfort and safety.

We used Intrepid for a 17 day tour of New Zealand. Definitely not worth the money. I have been on Tauck Tours and Tauck provides much better accommodations, better excursions and include many more meals compared to Intrepid. Intrepid is a glorified transportation service. Not worth the money.

Your customer service was very good - Michelle the customer care agent was everything a customer could expect from issues raised about the service.
