I really enjoyed doing Invisalign, I loved seeing the progress I was making and am so much more confident in my smile!

I'm 9 weeks into the predicted 19 week journey. So far I can see a big difference already but I do feel like I wasn't appropriately warned about a lot of things initially.
- the pain - it hurt A LOT to begin with and caused constant headaches. It gets better and I found my own method of dealing with it - gum numbing gel before each new retainer (once weekly)
- having to brush your teeth after eating and drinking anything other than water. I go out for coffee/breakfast/lunch/dinner/drinks frequently so it's a huge pain in the arse and hard to keep up with.
- I was NEVER warned I'd have to wear a nightly retainer for the rest of my life. I'd still have done it but it would be good to know.
- cleaning it I was told to brush it but my mouth never felt clean. I got a cheap retainer cleaner on Amazon which does the job a lot better.
It's really expensive but I think I'm the long run it's worth it. I have a lot of friends who had it years ago and are very happy they did it

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
My top front incisor teeth have permanent and very visible abrasions on the enamel from the removal of the Invisalign attachments, which is something they don't warn you about. My teeth were perfectly healthy before, albeit a little crowded, and now I will have a lifetime of sensitivity, staining, brittleness and lack of confidence, due to their abysmal product.
Furthermore their retainers cost £360 and don't even fit inside the case they provide you with, so they won't be adequately protected.
Literally paid thousands, to have my teeth mutilated.
They don't allow photos on reviews, otherwise I would have provided evidence of all of the above, but please take my word for it and don't throw your money away, to have your teeth butchered.

I've been wearing invisalign nightly retainers for several years now, following a very satisfactory realignment with the invisalign system. Follwing the end of the realignment, you are issued with 3 sets of identical aligners to wear at night, along with invisalign cleaning crystals. I made the mistake once the crystals ran out of using some random ones from Amazon which destroyed one set of retainers, so I buy directly from invisalign now, at the eye watering price of £50GBP for a 50 day supply. £1 per day to clean your aligners!
The last 2 orders I received from Invisalign (February 2025 and August 2025) they have sent me boxes where "use before date" has expired, in this case the order I just received was expired on 13th February 2025 and received in August 6th 2025.
This isn't the first time this has happened. I had the same problem with my last 2 orders.
On the last 2 occasions I clicked the "If you have any questions about your order please contact us" link only to be taken to a form you submit with your oder number. I fill it out, and hear nothing.
I find this deeply disrespectful.
Today i have written to invisalign as follows:
Per the Medical Devices Regulations 2002 (as amended by UK MDR 2019 & 2020), “medical devices must not be supplied past their manufacturer-set expiry or ‘use by’ date, because their safety, efficacy, and sterility cannot be guaranteed.” These cleaning crystals are a Class I medical device accessory under the Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.
Further, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires that goods be “of satisfactory quality,” “fit for purpose,” and “as described.” Expired goods fail all three tests. The Consumer Protection Act 1987 also prohibits the sale of unsafe goods.
Please confirm within 7 days:
You have sent a full replacement with in-date stock (that is, 2x 50 day supply packets per my order below)
Written confirmation expired stock has been removed from sale.
Each time I logged a response on your website and never heard back. I find this behaviour towards your customers to be deeply disrespectful.
If I do not hear back, I will escalate to Trading Standards, the MHRA, and my card provider for recovery under the relevant consumer protections.
I'll post back on any developments. Based on the fact they never bothered responding to me in the past, let's see.
UPDATE - 27TH AUGUST
After email contact with Invisalign in the US, I was contacted directly by the Global eCommerce Manager at Invisalign, who handled my complaint personally and professionally.
Immediately arranged for the expired product to be removed from their logistics system, sent me replacement crystals with a 2028 expiry date, and even offered a goodwill discount for future orders.
I also really appreciated the human touch. Acknowledging the frustration of my earlier attempts to reach customer support and made me feel heard.
This kind of direct response has gone a long way in restoring my trust in the brand. While I hope Invisalign improves their first-line customer support to avoid this kind of escalation being needed in the future, I’m happy to update my review to reflect the excellent follow-up and resolution I received.

I had Invisalign for 2 years and although it helped to straighten my teeth, they didn’t align my teeth to my face/jaw. My bottom teeth are noticeably leaning left and the upper teeth are angled inwards. When I raised this issue towards the end of my treatment I was told I would have to pay more to them properly aligned… even after 2 years worth of treatment. The most dissatisfying money I have ever spent.

In general I hate Invisalign.
You have to be very disciplined to clean your teeth every time after eating (at the restaurants, cafes, on the food courts etc.).
It is also not true that they are almost invisible on your teeth. Especially if you have attachments on your front teeth (as I do).
Current researches show that aligners can release small (?) amount of microplastics into your body. I grit my teeth in my sleep and damaged 2 or 3 sets of my aligners already.

Feel like the reviews here are a little unfair, as most of them are clearly aimed at the orthodontist they used, and not Invisalign. I have an excellent orthodontist and Invisalign has been brilliant. As someone that had metal braces when young, this is a much easier and better process. Had very crooked teeth and always ashamed if they showed in photos. It’s nice to smile finally and not feel like it makes me look ugly. I’ve just finished treatment and I’m very impressed with the results.

Hi - I’m contacting you as Invisalign has left me with a posterior op n but and canted smile. Only two teeth meet either side of mouth and I had no bite issues before Invisalign treatment. It’s causing migraines / TMJ pain / I can’t chew food properly / cavity’s on the back teeth that no longer meet and bone loss/gum recession. I’m currently in refinements to correct what your aligned caused. Can somone please contact me asap to discuss this as I feel this has ruinined my quality of life especially the bite issues. Also my teeth alignment at the front is now off following your treatment plan. This is what I wrote to Invisalign but error message every time I try contact them via there contacts tab on their official website! I personally think there will be huge compensation from Invisalign in the years to come from gross misconduct and neglect.

Just on week six and I can feel the pressure on my teeth so hope that they will be as predicted after fourteen weeks, but the company really needs to work out how to soften the sharp edges on the aligners. I had to trim little bits off to relieve the tearing into my mouth and gums with the first five, particularly the half molar cover on one side, Week six seems better so haven't had to trim so far. Additionally, if they are supposed to be less perceptible why print a black flower motif onto either side of the back, making it look as if you have serious tooth decay when you open your mouth? Probably down to the dentist, the little buttons, which are depicted as smooth rounds, are not, they are blobs of material that also tear into the mouth when the device is taken out. I am going through a good bit of Bonjela for the soreness, and the odd Ibuprofen when the pressure is making my teeth ache a little. We'll see whether or not it's worth it after week fourteen. And someone should take note that it should be different from other treatments, not different to. That is just bad grammar.

Awful experience! The beginning started as I expected, ok service in reception - being offered water, wifi and general seating whilst waiting for the sales to see me. Went through the standard info, 3D scan and what to expect, and got me booked in the following day to start the dentist checkup - this was a £50 upfront fee. All normal at first, I thought. I got home and researched more into the brand, and realised the 'buttons' would be placed on almost every tooth - this was not told to me in the beginning with just the sample showing two buttons on the back teeth (quite hidden in retrospect but the reality was far from that!). The dentist seemed quite knowledgable and BRIEFLY went through my scan but mentioned to have 2 cleaning sessions to begin the process as I have tooth decay and inflammation. I mentioned I think it was an infection which began the previous day after th 3D scan - unhygienic utensils used to scan my teeth!! I went to the dental hospital and was prescribed antibiotics after getting a second opion. I arrived the following week to the dental hygiene cleaning session - £150 a session prepaid for, this was where I was confused; The 'dentist' asked if I was ready for the injection for numbing and would only clean one side of my teeth!? Crazy. I have firstly never had an injection for a deep clean, secondly never just one side of my teeth, and lastly none of this was discussed with the apparent real dentist who initially saw me. I didn't go ahead with this and instead went with a 'general clean' across all the teeth after expressing my concern and the 'dentist' was shirty and told me they won't force me but with how bad my teeth are something had to be done. and never out of my many years of going to the dentist have I been told I have 'bad dental hygiene, water is bad for your teeth, etc'. I left with bleeding gums for 2 days from the lack of care, and not even the standard mouth wash was given for post dental hygiene clean or water to swill my mouth.
AVOID at all costs. Over 1.5 weeks they gained over £350 from me. I visited my private dentist and they told me I have had an infection and aside of that my teeth are healthy and they offered for me to go with a private alignment in-house - half the price of what Invisalign offer.
They can't even get their branding correct on an invoice, let alone clean teeth professionally or inform customers. Customer service lacks depth once you're a customer and the overall experience was dismal.

So called invisalign Smile Concierge spam you with messages then you never hear from them again when you actually need them - they should look up what "concierge" actually means.
Avoid at all costs.
Nothing but problems, lies and BAD customer service!
I wouldn't put my dog through this poor pathetic procedure.
Takes far longer to straighten teeth than they first say. In hindsight I should have had a metal brace, after time I didn't feel comfortable with Invisalign and the mouth full of plastic it is. Also they don't recycle. The app is rubbish and doesn't take photos. Also suffered some decay/fillings issues. Don't choose Invisalign, they should be banned.
I have had endless issues with my Invisalign treatment that have completely eroded my trust in the process. Despite paying nearly £4,000 upfront and being assured Invisalign was the right choice for me, I was never informed of its limitations. After completing treatment, I was told my most problematic tooth would not move and that composite bonding was required—something that should have been disclosed from the start. I also developed multiple cavities, despite excellent oral hygiene, and was pressured into urgent fillings. Worse still, my latest filling was done on the wrong tooth, which was only acknowledged after I questioned it. Hidden costs also became apparent, such as an unexpected £300 charge for "premium" retainers, despite retainers being part of the package deal I paid for. Throughout the process, appointments felt rushed, key details were not communicated, and my concerns were dismissed. I was even made to hold the suction tube myself during one procedure. My formal complaints to both the dental practice and Invisalign have been ignored, and my request for an independent second opinion was met with an appointment with another dentist from the same practice, who eventually admitted the wrong tooth had been filled; she then told me to pay her another £200 for the right tooth to be filled in. Given the repeated errors, lack of transparency, and poor care, I am now seeking legal advice. I strongly caution others against trusting this practice with such an expensive and life-impacting treatment.
I was unable to upload pictures (which was happy to do). Had slightly crossed over top front teeth so focus was only to 6 teeth. On week 12 and noticeable difference. I have 3 trays left and then my review to see if any further are needed. Dentist is confident these last 3 trays will just now align for finish initially aimed for. £2,100 cost me (seems prices vary). Trays towards end have been tight and the first few days you start again with being a little uncomfortable (nothing too bad) and back to a lisp when speaking (which In my job I have found a challenge at times). They are not invisible either but I did my research prior and was realistic while keeping my own end goal at the forefront. I am personally very happy. Would of liked full top and bottom but following scans etc my roots at bottom were too short for my own dentist to risk the recommendation to continue with a bottom tray (honest dentist).
Had a really good result with invisalign. I wear fixed braces upper and lower and a nightly retainer on my top teeth. My lower teeth have sadly starting crowding, despite a fixed brace and I've had no response from invisalign despite contacting them a number of times within the 5 year warranty.
Went for a visit and they quoted me nearly 4k for both arches . Might well gone with old school braces. Then read so many reviews on how uncomfortable and they don’t work . I wouldn’t take price at that risk , photos from dentist are people who then have bonding, so pass
Spent £3,600. Got close to no result. Very disappointed
Not impressed as this treatment is quite expensive but the aligners are cheap and nasty. All of them have rough edges and in places they cut into the gumline uncomfortably. I have seen that there are various ways to make the aligners smoother but why should I have to do something that should be handled by Invisalign's manufacturing process.
