Terrible experience, avoid!
Jaybee motors have an ease of booking appointments via phone, reception staff are polite and engaging. Credit to the branch.
Unfortunately that's where my positive experience ends.
As a loyal customer, I booked my car in for a service and MOT dropping my vehicle off at 08:30 as advised. I was aware service and MOTs are completed throughout the day and was aware that my car should be ready for payment and collection at/around 5pm.
My cambelt was replaced by another garage in 2021 and from previous experience with Jaybee Motors it would flag up for change and show red on my service sheet, post Service and MOT. I politely reminded the receptionist of this fact and that my service records from all works carried out were on my passenger seat. Stating a 'T belt and water pump change'
I would happy discuss with the mechanics if needed. She informed me details would be handed over.
Myself and small children who do not live locally spent the day exploring the local area. It came to 12:30, no correspondence from Jaybee motors, I rang for an update. I was informed my car was next to be looked at after lunch and was on track for competing after 3:30.
We arrived shortly after 3:30 - my children sat watching a film on my device, quite and chatting to other customers sat down next to them. A cleaner rudely told myself and my children that we were being too loud. 'the big man upstairs would not be happy' gobsmacked, I responded letting her know we were waiting for our car and that we were being no louder than any other customers in the show room.
At this point the receptionist informed me my car was partly serviced and flagging with essential work needing to be completed.
- a cambelt change! Quoting £1,288.85
This was astonishing, firstly because I asked them to look through the records provided.. something which they did NOT do and secondly, this is daylight robbery. I paid £423 for a cambelt and water pump change sept 2021. The mechanic did, after I abruptly asked them to read the paper work provided in my service book, retract the need for a cambelt change. He was nothing shy if a coward not coming to have a conversation with me about this.
I was also informed my front shocker boots were flagging as essential work, red. Needing to be changed before my next MOT. Again, the cost was £425.78
After feeling frustrated with the lack of communication and promptness of work carried out I declined to have these changed. Something which I have recently found out would have been monies wasted. 2x garages have quoted £170 + £240 for the shocker boots to be changed but not as a necessity, but when the time comes to change the springs. Again, Jaybee motors have tried to commit day light robbery! Utterly disgusting!
After spending 15mins discussing these issues, I was informed my car would take a further 1.5hrs to complete! The receptionist seeing me frustrated showed compassion and I was given a courtesy car to use overnight. Something I am very grateful for.
The completion of my work took another half a day, no priority to give my car back promptly.
Safe to say I will NOT be using Jaybee motors again and would not recommend their services.
* I have asked for Renault to contact me to discuss in further detail
