While there is always room for improvement, without being perfect this place has earned 5 stars for plenty of perks. Not only is the program about as efficient as it seems it can be today, they offer a lot more ease of opportunity for struggling students, programs for students who are hungry to excel and loads of support from quite a few people working together in their departments that the local public school failed on so many levels. My son and daughter are doing well and my son was not in any school system before CPA. Thank you for opening doors for this family.

The teachers are great but there have been too many inconsistencies this year. From teachers constantly switching to programs being changed. It's overwhelming for both parents and students. Your new platform is not easier to use. It's a lot more complicated and I have to open multiple tabs just to see assignments and live classes for the week. I hate that if a student gets a B in a quiz it automatically marks it with a big red x and says not mastered.. Even if they missed only one question. It makes students anxious and could make parents more strict on their kids even if the student is doing well. From a psychological perspective it's terrible. It was a cute idea and I love the bell that rings to let students know classes have begun but the execution is terrible.

The problem that I see is that she doesn't have enough classes she has too much free time every day she gets so bored I thought she was going to have more life lessons.

The school has gone to crap. The teachers don't call learning coaches. They give absences when kids are present. Sending parents to truancy court over bad grades. Cause your teachers are terrible at teaching viturally. The staff this year is sub par. Past years was great. Also Changing software to worse software multiple times. Bad teachers who can't even communicate with parents or learning coaches. Used to be great. Terrible staff and teachers this year. Absolute zero stars. Not a single teacher has been worth anything this year. I can't wait to leave.

When we first started CPA it was easy to use the system. My daughter was easily able to find out when her live classes were, what assignments were due that day and when future assignments were due. Tech problems were at a minimum. With this new system, Canvas, it is so confusing how to tell when they have classes and when assignments are due. She would get done with her school day and I would check through her work, it would show she got it all done and then all of a sudden she would have overdue assignments. There were constantly technical issues and she would just get so off track. She has ADHD so it was hard for her to keep focused and on track when the system would have issues constantly. I never liked the chat function in class, I think it was super distracting to her and a lot of the conversations were not school related. There is also not a lot of social opportunities outside of school.

Warning: My Experience with Colorado Preparatory Academy (CPA) & Stride K12 – Avoid Until Fixed
Enrolled my two kids (middle & elementary) in CPA (tuition-free online public school) in Oct 2025. Platform (Stride K12/Canvas) has been a nightmare due to ongoing upgrades.
Issues since start:
• Constant 404 errors, raw code displays, “staff only” blocks for Class Connect
• Calendar shows “no assignments” despite due work
• Locked behind old/excused modules (Sept-Nov)
• Can’t submit work; clicks do nothing
I have IT background – tried everything (cache clear, multiple devices/browsers, updates, scans). K12 tech support confirmed platform bugs.
School blamed user error (wrong links, sequences), sent truancy notices (7+ absences), grades tanked (e.g., math 15% F) despite effort. Teachers/admin offered Zooms but no real fixes.
Pros: Solid curriculum when accessible, flexible.
Cons: Unreliable platform destroys grades/attendance/motivation.
Withdrawing to switch schools.

I am having increasing Instructor retention concerns and therapy scheduling issues with the school. The past two years, the school has switched companies providing therapy services without notice, which is very difficult when dealing with special needs children. A heads up would be nice because these types of changes require transitions that can be disruptive to the child’s progress. We are4 days from the start of the year and I still don’t know who will be providing speech services for my child. I JUST received OT communication for the year on 8/13 (yesterday) and am not happy with the company the school has suddenly switch to. I share this same concern with the recent communication of Mrs. Bach not returning for the 2025-26 school year. I can understand if her return was recently communicated; however, it it was known for some time that she would not be returning, then it would’ve been helpful to communicate that information earlier so that parents could prepare for the transition and/or decide if enrollment is in their best interests for the upcoming year. It’s hard in the disability community to find adequate therapists and educators; therefore, retention and effective communication is essential to the success and stability of our children’s progress.

My husband is terminal and my special needs kids are watching this happen. We can easily do the required lives when we have rough days. And we have to use 3 different browsers to get my daughters stuff turned in. The teacher last year were not nice nor understanding. Anakin still gets the wrong books shipped to the wrong address and he cant even do the work u guys give him.

I have had my children enrolled in K12 for the last 4 years. This online school is interactive, engaging and far from just homeschooling… there’s a community of teachers, counselors and other learning coaches/parents to embrace your education needs. We have been very fortunate and had great success academically and in all other ways. Thank you!

The communication between teachers and learning coaches is pretty good when the student is doing well or not for elementary. But maybe not as much for middle schoolers.

Thank you for the support and guidance you are providing my children. The communication I have received from CPA has far surpassed the previous school they attended. I now know exactly how they are doing, it's fantastic!

Colorado Prep has gone above and beyond to accommodate my daughter with her IEP and have made her time there invaluable. She has aspirations like a regular kid and Colorado Prep has made things for her happen.
