After 20-odd years of consistent good…

After 20-odd years of consistent good work by this company at my personal and various rental properties, and following its recent replacement of a number of 'blown' d/g panes in my house and conservatory, I felt it was high time I publicly recognised its consistent good service. However, in so doing I was surprised to see a string of previous 1 star reviews. I can only say that I have always found the company to be friendly, constructive, efficient and cost effective, and prompt in responding to my very occasional problems. I feel it would be helpful to all if it had the facility to reply to negative comments by either acknowledging fault or presenting its own side of the story, including factors outside its control, such as third party manufacturing defects, or national labour or material shortages.

Terrible

We had a sliding door installed by KB glass which at first seemed to work fine. However when it started to rain, the water was pouring in through the runner into my kitchen. At times over half a liter collects in the runner. KB came out fairly quickly to investigate and were shocked themselves how bad the situation is. They advised us that a missing part from a manufacturer needs to be ordered. It has now been over 2 months of having water pouring into our house every time it rains and numerous phone calls and the company is now ignoring us.

I had a conservatory installed by KB…

I had a conservatory installed by KB Glass Ltd but as of today the roof has dropped four times. I went to court and Michael Trewin (Sole Director/Owner) came to my house and admitted it was a poor installation. They came and repaired the roof which dropped again. Now they are ignoring me. I dont believe one star is low enough

Poor quality workmanship and after sales care

KB Glass installed aluminium bi-fold windows and a door to the balcony of my flat in 2016. It transpires that the windows and doors were poorly installed with drain holes drilled in to the frame which has resulted in water seeping in to the walls and causing damage to the property below. KB Glass were made aware of this issue and I invited them to inspect and investigate the installation. Chris, from KB Glass, advised that their guarantee does not pass to any new owner of a property and as I has now sold the flat, they would not therefore investigate further. I suggested that they should have a professional interest in understanding what had gone wrong and a moral responsibility to correct any poor workmanship. Chris asserted that they would not investigate as the guarantee was no longer valid. The integrity of a company comes from the top and it's clear that KB Glass take as little responsibility for their workmanship as possible and are not concerned with the after effects of their work. If the management of the company aren't concerned by the quality and standards of their work and workforce, why should the installers? I wish I hadn't paid KB Glass to carry out this work and would urge anyone else who reads this not to do so too.

Had 12 sets of glass for Classic…

Had 12 sets of glass for Classic Vehicle cut for me by KB Glass over the last few months all without problem. Went there this morning to get repeat order, and the guy in the office tells me it can't be done. When I explained I had previously had the same sets done here, he told me in a most arrogant manor, it was not possible and I must be mistaken. Well perhaps KB Glass can afford to loose customers through speaking to them in this way. I think a course in Customer Service would not go a miss, before they receive anymore bad reviews.

After the initial error of forgetting about our quote, the service was quick and the made to measure product was well produced and installed. Everyone involved was very friendly and the service was great. Good value for money.

Use at your peril

Building:- mon 23/8 – fri 27/8
Fitters:-mon 31/8 – mon 6/9
Electrics 1st fix:- thu 2/9 2nd fix:-tue 14/9
Plaster:- wed 8/9
Screed:- thu 9/9
They phoned with less than half a working day's notice to say delayed due to sickness which had been going on for weeks. Why didn't they inform weeks before there might be a delay. Have had to cancel kitchen and fitters and do not know when I will get a working kitchen.
Started Tuesday 31 August and have foundations and some brickwork. Expected fitters today. Once more no communication at all despite phoning and emailing. Have already paid £5660 with a further £5762 to pay. Nearly 1pm 8/9 and no call back, no acknowledgement nothing. Do they expect me to wait in for days on the offchance they might just turn up. Unless they communication I will pay balance of funds into court pending a claim for compensation - no communication treat me like they are doing me a favour, that is if they ever turn up
Just had a call from Michael of KB Glass. Basically excuses sickness etc. Although rumour has it they take on more work than they can handle. If you take on contracts in early May (3rd) and send Schedule in June you should ensure you have sufficient staff to meet contractual obligations. Now says Monday 13th September DO NOT USE

More than disappointed

MY REVIEW OF KB GLASS Eastbourne

Sub-contracted to build a new roof on our extension we have had leaks coming inside for the past three years , they did indeed send people four times to try and repair it but without success . They then informed me that the main contractor had not paid them , although I showed proof that I had paid my invoice . I offered to help even to attend court if required , for some reason they then went silent and never mention it again – when I reported more leaks they demanded I pay £550 for another visit .
I contracted them direct to install new windows and repair rot in a small bathroom window - for this small window I was charged over £500 – 18 months later we saw something on the wood but had no idea what was happening , as we live abroad time passed and it was over two years before we started to see dreadful rot with lots of wood filler , their carpenter came several months ago and agreed it had to be replace and would be done in better weather , he was to report back to the owner and confirm the work . Now total silence .
NOTHING ; have e.mailed many times asking what is proposed ; sent many e.mails over several weeks NOTHING , not even a courtesy reply . I have all the e.mails sent , proof I paid the sub-contractor ,and them , lots of photo's if they dispute anything .
Part of the problem was being absent from the UK a lot we did not always see these problems if there in the summer , however even today some three year later the extension roof is still leaking water coming in . Anyway clearly KB Glass could not care and wonder who all those people are who think they are wonderful .
