Evaluating 46 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about poor product quality, noting that soles quickly separated, stitching came undone, and shoes were no longer waterproof after minimal use. People also expressed frustration over high prices, feeling that expensive footwear failed to last and did not offer good value for money. Keen advertised the Targhee 2 as being waterproof. It never showed signs of even being water resistant. The manmade portion of the lower outer surface failed within 3 1/2 weeks. Sole shows separation... See more

I had a pair of there low top casual…

I had a pair of there low top casual shoes that delaminated and just fell apart I had not worn them much for the first year as I only wore them when dressing up ( a few hours a week) so they were out of warranty and Keene would do nothing. That was about 5 years ago this summer I thought I would give Keene another chance so I purchased a pair of high top leather "utility" shoes, I've wore them about 4 months and they are separating / ripping from the sole. I doubt I'll ever buy another Keene shoe!!

I’m onto my second pair of keen hiking…

I’m onto my second pair of keen hiking boots, I purchased these after someone recommended them as I have one wide foot due to arthritis in my big toe, other walking boots can be painful but these are some comfy due to the wide toe area, just completed a 10 mile hike in the snow over the Peak District hills, absolutely love them 10/10

For the money they are junk

For the money, total junk! Warranty first pair before a year, second pair, 5 months tops, so they sent a third pair free of charge. 3 months an they was coming apart as well. I'll never buy another pair. Save ya money as they are not what they use to be. For 150 dollars should have gotten least 3 yrs before the bottoms started peeling off.

KEEN Does Not Help Customers

I’ve purchased over 8 pairs of Keen shoes in the last 5 years. In the last 2 orders ( online) there were size discrepancies with certain shoe models. I normally fit an 11 Wide but needed to order an 11.5 Wide on their oxford work shoe . This shoe was shorter than the others. Well, on my last order the shoes were WAY TOO BIG- almost like they changed suppliers or something. I was traveling quite a bit with work at the time and had the shoes delivered to my business address. I contacted Keen about 90 days after the order was placed and explained that the shoes were so much bigger than all my other shoes. Keen is unwilling to take back the new shoes and exchange for a smaller size. I will never purchase from Keen and will make it my mission to let EVERYONE know that they do not appreciate their long time customers . I will buy Merrells and Topos and will also actively message my REI reps with strong suggestion to stop distributing their shoes.

Purchased my Keen boots from Cabelas 2 years ago.
Long break in period…inner lining by the padded ankle collar tore on both boots after 1 year. The laces will not
remain tight & tied…ever…Yesterday the left heal bottom detached….Gorilla glued it…..
$150 for boots that do not last. Terrible quality….
Back to my Timberlands….

ABYSMAL CUSTOMER CARE

Bought some Keen Jasper shoes and after a short period I noticed the left toe area had split, basically making them leaky.

School boy error, I didn't keep the receipt but thought after reading Keens ethos, they would understand and assist.

Absolutely not, no empathy, poor response, poor communication and basically didn't want to know.

Wish I'd read the previous reviews before purchasing, keep away, poor quality shoes but even worse customer care.

Not waterproof in the slightest!

Great looking boots, super comfortable but absolutely not waterproof in the slightest! So so so disappointing. Definitely need to move to GoreTex lining or Outdry and scrap their useless version! Customer service is also useless if you don't buy directly from Keen.

For a company who's mission statement…

For a company who's mission statement is "Cleaner Shoes for a Better Planet" it's a bitter irony that so many of their shoes are now landfill after a few short months of wear
I bought a pair of the Targhee 3 on the back of having worn out ( in the right way) a pair of Targhee 2.
I'm always dubious about 'fixing what ain't broke' so did spend a considerable amount of time trying to track online another pair of mk 2's as I'd observed the new strip between leather upper and sole on the mk 3 as that's often a sign of cost cutting when multiple seams are introduced.
I didn't realise how true this was.
My particular pair after a few short months of use have disintegrated either side on both boots as well as the soles (which seem to have far less traction on wet than the previous incarnation) coming away in the area of the new material used.
Stay well clear of this model and any others using this material.

As a post note

Keen did honour their warranty.

I love their sandals

I love their sandals, but I had to return a recent purchase (due to fit issues, not their fault).
The return process was seamless, and they refuneded my money really fast.
Thank you Keen!

Not worth 1 star

I purchased what I thought were good reliable walking shoes, (Targee III WP LDS costing £109.99) in May 2022, they have had only minimal use & on country footpaths not rugged terrain, unfortunately they have started to crack on the sides due to normal flexing of the foot, They only have a 1 year warranty, but this type of failure will only start after the warranty runs out, I believe it is a design fault & unsuitable material used.
Keen we’re not at all interested when I sent photos & quoted the warranty period.
Don’t waste your money on any of their products, I was quite surprised to see all the negative comments on Trust Pilot so I will use this in the future to check out products before purchasing.

Poor quality

I bought a pair of Keen Targhee waterproof wide fit boots at the tail end of last summer. They fit wonderfully, but I wore them while doing some painting and so resigned them to work, and bought another pair, so impressed was I with the fit. However, the first pairs heel support collapsed so badly, after I guess 12 months, I've thrown them away. The second pair, which I've had probably 6 months, have also got the same problem, and these are no being used only for work. The toe fit is amazing, but sadly as far as being used as walking boots, a big no no. The heel support collapse causes real pain in my ankles, achilles and legs/feet in general. Something I really noticed on a recent weekend in Wales. They were ok on soft ground, but hell on rocky/slippy/roads.Sad really as they are such a good looking/fitting boot. I've noticed they no longer stock/make this particular style.

KEEN Targhee III Mid Mens Waterproof Boots

I’m disappointed with these boots after a little over a year of use. Initially, they were great for walking my dog, but now they allow water to seep in, leaving my feet soaked whenever I walk through long grass. The seams and sides have started to come apart, which is really disheartening. I owned the same model before, and they lasted for years, so it’s clear that the quality has declined significantly. After spending a whole day in the Peak District with wet feet despite minimal rain, I’ll be looking at other brands for my next purchase.

They don't deserve 1 star

They don't deserve 1 star. The worst Customer service ever. Every time I called about a credit I was due on my card, they stopped answering the phone when they saw my number coming through. Even their Live Chat stopped chatting and typed "You will receive an email in 24 to 48 hours". I can't complain about the shoe yet, just a flip flop but I will never order from this company again. Not worth the headache

Keen Uneek Sandals 5/5

I’ve had my Keen Uneek Sandals for 6 years now, worn almost daily in warm weather. They have been incomparable to other shoes, as I have wide feet; most shoes rub and press into my little toes. I LOVE the freedom of my toes; I get zero press from the sides. I get asked about these shoes all the time and would recommend them to anyone, wide feet or not.

I wish I had checked on Trustpilot prior to buying these dreadful shoes

I wish I had checked on Trustpilot before I bought my latest pair of Keen Circadia walking shoes. They cost £102 and lasted 4 months before falling apart, coming away at the seams and letting water in. My feet were soaked even after a short dog walk on a field. I had such high hopes for these shoes and they've been a complete let down. Trying to get a refund has been hours of contacting and being redirected with lack of clarity and no sense of responsibility that Keen products just aren't what they used to be. 4 months is ridiculous, the shoes are fit for the bin. I will never buy Keen footwear again and would advice that you buy elsewhere.

Style over substance

Liked the idea that the boots were made from recycled materials but barely lasted 6 months, also found they were quite slippery when walking on wet ground. One of the few boots suitable for a wide fit, but really not built to last. Disappointed & won’t be buying again

After four or five weeks of wearing my Keen shoes, the soles had developed holes. I have continued to wear them and after about two months, the holes are big enough to get stones stuck in them. I have never experienced quality so poor. My last pair of Keens.
