Scammers Gonna Scam - Beware of Rue & Vervain and Kickstarter

I have backed a few projects on Kickstarter and had great experiences. That goodwill is now complete destroyed. Rue & Vervain's "Tigger Too" Pooh project is a complete scam. Months of delays and lame ass excuses. Despite tons of negative feedback and complaints, Kickstarter has not responded. The creator is a scam artist that Kickstarter has enabled

Thousands of us have been scammed

I have had a couple of successful experiences with Kickstarter. However my last backing of a project with this company resulted in the creator disappearing with everybody's money. Kickstarter is holding no accountability whatsoever for the loss of our money. I would love to be able to continue to use this company but I just don't trust that there will be a follow-through by the creators and once again pay for a product that never had any intention of doing anything but grabbing our money and running.

Scam

Simply indecent. Non-existent services, completely absent investor protection. The idea was good, but most of the cases are scams.

There are scammers on kickstarter, once you pay they are gone

There are scammers on kickstarter and seems Kickstarter have no intent to keep the interests of the backers safe. The backers have been scammed for their money, and they can't do anything for that.

Recently I backed a projector, paid for the product and for its shipping and since then the creater has gone missing.

Absolute BS

Absolute BS. Superbacker on a project that was supposed to be delivered 4 months ago and the company hasn't updated since August of last year. Everyone has commented that they reported the project and crickets from Kickstarter. Another Scam company that takes your money and has ZERO accountability.

No longer a legitimate platform.

Kickstarter has recently been lovingly referred to as Scamstarter. Why is this correct?

NiteEase: Your Greatest Smart Bedside Partner for Living: scam.
Tornado - Heat and perfume your home with a spinning flame: scam.

For both of these projects, all of a sudden the updates stopped and no replies from creator or Kickstarter. This led to me pursuing a credit card refund, which was successful. However, it highlights the tip of the iceberg, most likely. Especially given the other reviews in this platform alone.

You will, very likely, not receive your product. Therefore, my advice would be to avoid completely.

They should be called Scamstarter

I backed Livtab’s CyberOne project on Kickstarter in November 2022, with desks promised for February 2023. Now, in March 2025, I am still empty-handed and out about $1700. The campaign page remains active, misleading potential backers into thinking the project succeeded, while the reality is nothing but unfulfilled promises and a cascade of excuses.

The creator, Shiran Han, hasn’t logged into their Kickstarter profile in over six months—a clear breach of Kickstarter’s requirements for regular updates. Instead of receiving official communications, backers are met with vague, off-the-cuff responses. My multiple contacts with Kickstarter Support have yielded only generic replies, such as:

"I just want to re-confirm that we have received your report about this project, and our experts in project review, the Trust and Safety team will take action accordingly."

This response offers no tangible resolution or refund, leaving us with nothing but excuses. Meanwhile, Livtab ran an Indiegogo campaign for the same desk and is now selling the CyberOne on livtab.com. Three years of delays and misleading updates suggest a deliberate strategy to string us along rather than deliver on their promises.

After backing over 20 projects on Kickstarter, this experience has forced me to reassess my trust in the platform. The system is clearly failing backers when accountability is most needed. I can no longer recommend Kickstarter to those who value transparency and follow-through.

Kickstarter needs to address these systemic issues rather than offer vague assurances. Until then, I will refrain from backing future projects on their platform.

Totally hopeless!

These guys are a total scam. There is no support from them and they blame the project launchers for their inability to communicate. Don’t use Kickstarter .. no support and poor communication.

Never again!

I never received the product I backed, and the person taking the money just said well, it's your fault for not getting back to me. It doesn't matter I didn't receive an email from them. I will never back anyone again. This place is like Trump, a grifter.

Too many scams and no accountability

Backed 4 projects… The postage on them makes them double the cost.

Out of the 4 two are scams. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DO DUE DILLIGENCE because kickstarter certainly don’t.

Kickstarter do not respond to any contact and make it really difficult to even find contact details.

SCAM ALERT – KICKSTARTER DOES NOTHING TO PROTECT BACKERS!

I and many others are furious.

Kickstarter has made it incredibly easy for scammers to take people’s money and walk away without consequences. They allow anyone to create a project, collect funds, and then disappear—and when that happens, Kickstarter does absolutely NOTHING to help the backers who got ripped off!

Here’s what happened to me:
I believed in a project. I backed it with my hard-earned money. And what did the project owners do? They took the money and ran!

Once the funds hit their account, they VANISHED. No updates, no product, no refund—just gone. And Kickstarter? They wash their hands of it like they have no responsibility at all.

Now, read below—this is what Kickstarter claims are its “responsibilities.” But trust me, when you actually need them, they don’t care.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Kickstarters Responsibilities - The following is on there website -

We do not assess the viability of a creator’s project, monitor how they use funds, or reimburse backers if creators violate their agreement with backers, or are unable to fulfill rewards as planned.

To build trust, we encourage open communication between creators, backers, and Kickstarter.
In some cases, we notify backers when we have taken action against a creator or project, such as restricting the creator from launching projects on the platform.

Generally I'm supportive of…

Generally I'm supportive of entrepreneurs and smart ideas. I'm a commercial scuba diver and backed the SeeAir project. It's a floating compressor. The Hong Kong company went radio silent to the 2003 backers. Too make things worse, Kickstart has also been radio silent in responding to all our complaints. It was supposed to be delivered Sept 2023. There's a lot of comments on this product's message board. Unfortunately that's $308 I'll never get back but they've lost a customer.
