A+ product and customer service

The product provided by Kitbash is fantastic. I've always found using the kits to be a pleasure and they've saved me a ton of time with their high quality assets. I had a small billing issue and they fixed it up so swiftly. I would recommend their products, their customer service takes it to another level.

Something I thought after examining…

Something I thought after examining their packs is that 20 single material models with non-overlapping textures are more useful than having 300 models that have 4-16 materials relying on overlapping textures.

We are in 2025 and whilst polycount isn’t an issue in engines such as unreal- you have to offset the cost of ‘unlimited polycount’ by ensuring the materials are highly optimised and not wasting a single ms. I have a feeling these were initially targeted at concept artists wanting to render out quick concepts or designs- the issue now is that AI can quickly churn out images or models that would fit the same purpose. The only way any of their models would be useful is if they were properly modelled with non-overlapping textures- the price tag and marketing hinting at their use in game engines suggests they have this but it turns out to be something of a grey scam. You can certainly import to a game engine but they do not suit any form of real time experience, even with offline rendering there are plenty of non-overlapping uv mapped models available elsewhere which would make rendering less of a strain on a users system.

Extremely Disappointed — No Longer a Customer

I had been using the monthly subscription for a while and was told that, although the plan was being phased out, I'd be grandfathered in. That turned out not to be true. Due to a card issue while I was traveling and unable to check emails, my subscription was canceled and when I reached out to support, they simply told me to pay for the yearly plan. No flexibility, no real help. I won’t be subscribing to the yearly plan, especially given how poorly the product performs.

Here are the major issues I experienced:

1. Laggy and inefficient interface: The app is painfully slow. Browsing assets is a frustrating experience if you view an asset, there's no proper back function, and you have to start all over again just to find where you left off.

2. Unbearable 4K asset load times: Importing 4K assets takes forever. I own some of their kits and can load an entire kit in less time than it takes to load just one of their 4K assets.

3. Login issues: The “remember me” login option is unreliable at best. It frequently forgets your credentials, which adds even more friction to the experience.

4. Random disconnects: The app will sometimes act as though you haven’t paid, kicking you into a limited version and prompting you to subscribe again even if you’re already a paying user.

5. Broken alpha channels: Once assets are in the program, performance remains slow, and the alpha channels often load as black textures. Fixing them is difficult, if not impossible.

To top it off, they’re now forcing users onto a more expensive annual plan, cutting off monthly options with no regard for loyal users. I used to buy their assets regularly and gave Cargo a fair try, but this experience has burned me. I won’t be returning, and I won’t be recommending their products to anyone.

Feels more and more like a scam....

If I could give Them 0 stars I would, I truly doubt this review will make any changes or give me back what I paid for but I had to say something.

It’s nothing more than a scam with their subscriptions. I signed up after a year or two just to try it out—10 downloads a month sounded like a decent deal for $39.99. But now, that plan doesn’t even exist. They’ve scrapped monthly subscriptions altogether, and the only option is a yearly plan for $999. And get this—any assets you downloaded before? They take them back. You can’t use them anymore. So the money I already paid? Gone. And I have nothing to show for it. Not a single PAID FOR asset.

They keep raising prices and leaving longtime users in the dust. Not everyone can afford nearly $1,000 a year for 3D assets—that’s why monthly subscriptions were essential. But constantly changing the pricing, removing the monthly option, and giving nothing back to paying customers? That’s a straight-up rip-off.

it's not Unlimited Downloads.

they downgraded my account to basic within an hour of paying for the pro plan
And they want me to pay again for reactivate 😂

it's not unlimited downloads.
In any case, if the customer receives a limit, it is not a unlimit.

Don't trick the customer into taking the money

they scam you on download numbers

If you pay the unlimited version for 99 a month they still block the amout of downloads that you can do if they consider your downloading too much assets at once, and they act as if it is a server error due to high demand, basically a scam.

Their Cargo strategy is the worst.

Their Cargo strategy is the worst.
We want to use a "Cargo Exclusive" kit, but Cargo is Windows only (no Mac or Linux).

Look at their highest-rated support ticket re. porting of Cargo to Mac to get a feel for the rage. A real shame as the creative work is amazing, failed entirely by the business "strategy".

Cargo software is terrible and support doesn't help at all

Their Cargo software is terrible, it lacks basic QOL features like marking a kit as a favourite, you will have to search or scroll for it every time.
But that's just a nuissance, the real issue is that I am unable to import assets to Unity and the support is completely useles. I did job that their QA team should have done, and pointed out that this terrible software doesn't handle admin rights as it should.
No reply since that and I am still unable to import anything and can't get my money back as I have already downloaded the kit.

I was a big supporter of their company…

I was a big supporter of their company and have purchased kits from them before to no issue. Now I see one has to indefinitely spend money to no advantage in order to access their assets (similar to Adobe's and Marvelous Designers horrible model) instead of being able to purchase them separately, meaning they're encouraging piracy and having to obtain the assets elsewhere, complicating what was once so simple. I will now purchase my assets on other sites that sell the same if not better quality at fractions of their pricing model. If they ever do revert back to modern standards of purchasing options instead of the outdated hated one they've chose, I'd happily come back, but until then, time to spend my money elsewhere.

SCAM BASH

Way to go if you want to throw your money in the pit fire. Models are sooooo bad, I can't imagine using them even for film VFX industry scene or if you have a farm of gpus.... Each asset has a different pivot point, so it's impossible to perfectly place roads, side walks etc, your objects would sit on 0.81830945 point decimals.
Never again.

TERRIBLE assets; Unusable

TERRIBLE assets. They do an amazing job at marketing and making their product/kits seem amazing.

They are NOT modular. You will have to spend a lot, and I mean A LOT, of time reworking assets to make them usable for anything or in anyway. Terrible modeling/meshes that are either too low on polys (Curves) or way over complicated Geometry than needed. Want that cool fantasy castle pointed rooftop? Then you will need to directly edit and separate that section of the mesh, rework textures ect.

Buildings will be single meshes, not modular pieces. So, see the same window in a building? Its duplicated geometry in a single mesh file instead of being a single window mesh instanced in the Blender/Unity/Unreal project files. Must manually dissect meshes to tear apart and use what you need or to edit (such as making a walkway wider or narrower).

Textures are massive baked textures that clearly show tiling patterns (Enchanted Castle Brick textures) instead of being actual materials with implemented features to hide tiling and add dirt etc., instead they bake it all into the model textures.

NOT for games despite what they advertise. There is soooo much work involved to get game ready that you might as well just develop your own assets.

Many models are for external only, with interiors not modeled or decorated.

Not worth any amount of money. I would not pay any amount for their kits, any amount of money would be better spent buying someoneelses assets. There is too much involved in making the assets usable.

I just recently purchased the Enchanted kit at 50% off, I have a couple other kits I have gotten free along with some other free mini kits they have given out. They all gave me the same experience. I was hoping things had gotten better as i really could have utilized the Enchanted assets, butinstead I ended up wasting $100 on something that was worthless and would require waaaaaay to much rework time to be usable. I will just end up making my own true modular assets.

Dissapointing, because they could have an incredible product if it was done correctly. They are just out tere to make easy money scamming. And yes, IT'S A SCAM, because they do not provide what they advertise.

Buyers remorse. Low-effort customer service, low-quality product.

The LA kit that I bought is an okay starting point but the Unreal assets were really only suitable for taking inventory of what was in the kit, as there were a handful of quality issues with the assets they provide in that format.

Customer service suggested I make the fixes to the 1000+ meshes myself, individually, but that sounded like a pretty hamfisted approach as there is not a batch edit option for the fixes I needed to make to the LODs and materials. I interacted with two people who attempted to offer support, who eventually passed the buck until I stopped hearing back from anyone.

To their credit, they do provide various options for different formats. Being able to take the files back to a modeling program and rebuild the assets softens the blow a bit, but it's a slog to load a ~1.8GB file into Blender and break out the bits I need, make them suitable for game development and reimport them into UE4.

This product is marketed as "premium quality to meet the needs and expectations of any film or game studio in the industry", but that is not what I received when I downloaded my purchase.

Poly-count is way too high, unusable for scenes.

models are of acceptable quality.
BUT! the polygon counts are way, way too high!
Wasteful, cluttery, impossible to fix with decimate.
If you don´t plan on getting the highest end computer every 2 years, go buy elsewhere.
example: 20ft container, with 4 boxes next to them. 270k polygons!! A single tent, 3 MILLION Polygons! I don´t think high poly counts equal higher quality, i think it screams laziness and consumer-unfriendly thinking.
Your customers don´t have render farms at home !

Worth it

Worth it. Even though these kits are like really expensive it's worth buying them. Thats some AAA work, you can export for pretty much every engine, they don't just give you fbx files. Should mention that there are no demo maps or something included, you just get the Actors.

You should have access to all file formats for the price

If they actually allowed you to access multiple file formats, it might be worth it. But I purchased multiple sets for 3DS Max (which I always keep up to date with the newest version), and they would not work in ART renderer. And they look like garbage in other default renderers.
So... complete waste of money, because I couldn't even then access FBX or OBJ formats to try rendering in other software. The fact that they make you pay this much for EACH file format is kind of BS.
