Stressed cats and Bad customer service

I visited yesterday with my daughter, for prebooked afternoon tea. What a mistake!!
It took 30 mins for our hot drinks to arrive, food took 50 mins to arrive so drinks had to order more drinks- but as you only have the table for 1 hour we had 10 minutes to eat the afternoon tea and vacate the table ( they came round and told us to vacate). No apologies for the delay in food service. When i complained on payment/leaving was just told "yes there was a delay" - no apology.
To make matters worse the poor cats were being chased around by children running around after them. We sat at our table to allow them a calm unforced interaction should they want it, but they did not come to us at all, so we had no interaction with the cats, and I did not want to stress them more by seeking them out.
Customer service terrible, cats stressed - the experience for 2 if us including cost of car park for our 1 hour visit was just shy of £50 not including the petrol for our 2 hour round trip. I will not be going back!!!

I hate to leave negative reviews but…

I hate to leave negative reviews but unfortunately this is earned and deserved. We visited the Nottingham Kitty Cafe on Saturday 31st July, 3 Adults and 3 Children, we were unaware of the £30 welfare fee on top of our pre-booked meals but thought given the nature of the cafe and the excited kids that we’d go ahead and pay, a smidge under £100 later we made our way to the table for our afternoon tea’s, our drinks arrived after 15mins but we had to wait 35mins for our pre-booked food, once it arrived, and after receiving an unsympathetic apology, we were disappointed to say the least. £21.99 for afternoon tea that looks like it cost less than £1.99 to make…..each cake stand had a sandwich (2 slices of bread) cut into 3 small slices and filled with a bit of ham, egg mayonnaise and tuna then cut in half again to make 6 very small bite size snacks. The scones were scones, nothing special. Then the cakes on top, oh dear! A pitiful attempt to say the least, even the kids didn’t eat them!
Such a shame as we were all so excited yet ALL left bitterly disappointed!!!
I will not be visiting again and will be advising friends NOT to bother either.

I was really excited to visit the kitty…

I was really excited to visit the kitty cafe with my 2 daughters I paid the welfare fee £18 on arrival before being seated.
One of my daughters ordered some wedges and myself and eldest daughter ordered cake with hot chocolate the drinks arrived with my youngest daughters wedges but no cake.
After 30 minutes I asked when we would receive our cake and was told vey soon but 50 minutes later still no cake by this time we had finished our drinks so decided to leave at the front desk where we we needed to pay the very rude lady said we had 20 minutes of our allocated 1 hour slot to receive our cake,I told her I would have liked to have eaten my cake with my drink her reply was they didn’t serve the cake until after hot food had been served but no hot food had been ordered for myself and my eldest.
Does it really rake 50 minutes to serve a customer a slice of cake????
The cats were lovely but the service was absolutely dreadful…slow…..and unprofessional kitchen staff were on a go slow this could be seen from the seating area.
The lady on the front desk needs some lessons on customer service skills because she clearly had none very rude and unprofessional I would sack her.
Will not return to this cafe down to very poor service…….

Beware of website purchases!

Bought a bag on 26th May via their website for a friends birthday and I am still awaiting delivery. Had I known it was going to be shipped from China I would never have bought it. I’ve emailed the company and they’re not bothered that it hasn’t yet arrived - would never use this company again.

UPDATE: Nearly 2 months later from date of order and STILL no parcel - absolutely appalling. Kitty Cafe are not interested and told me to contact them when it arrives so I can return and get a refund.

Booked for Leeds

Booked for Leeds, had to pay £6 each just to get in as they are a charity, wouldn't mind if you got something for it IE certificate to say you've been or badge. Inside clean only had a coffee as the people running around chasing cats made me feel uneasy. Those poor cats were scared and couldn't get away quick enough. Even then they were hunted out.

Will not be going back as those poor cats were so distressed.

Don’t buy from this company

I bought two cat beds from this company. After the order confirmation I heard nothing else. I followed up a month later but they had no answers why I hadn’t received the beds. I asked for a refund but never received it after chasing them over email for weeks. Eventually I had to claim it back via Visa.

During this time I visited the cafe itself. The cats seemed jumpy and uncomfortable. They were either racing around or sat up high to get out of the way. The service was slow and the food was average

Sorry but did think £20 expensive

Sorry but did think £20 expensive. Thought food expensive. £20 goes towards looking after the cats, better to send money to the different cats homes. Sorry not my cup of tea. Family of 7 I know went in after me so £35. Waited 30 mins for food then encouraged to leave after the hour. I thought the men’s toilets were on a poor state and mentioned when leaving I was told they were scrubbed every day I replied they needed replacing.

Birmingham - Absolutely Abysmal

I'll try keep it short as it pretty much matches with the other negative reviews from Birmingham.

Booked for: 2pm
Time waiting to be seated: 20 mins
Time then waiting for drinks: 45 mins
Time then waiting for food: Another hour
After being there 2 hours and still having no food, our parking ticket was up and we couldn't wait any longer.

No apologies from staff at all. No empathy. I don't know what all the staff were on but they seemed to just be wondering round in wonderland and not having a clue about anything going on.

The girl who brought our drinks over was wandering around all the tables with our 2 bottles of drink having no idea who it was for. She blamed this on them changing the table numbers but she should have remembered her customers.

The people next to us left after waiting with kids for over 3 hours for food. The staff all pretended nothing was going wrong and handed out some cat treats (at least someone got to eat!) but they wouldn't actually address or explain the situation. Honestly laughable.

The house rules were not adhered to or pushed to follow by staff and the poor cats were all being chased and grabbed by kids clearly too young/ not capable of going to a place where you have to respect other living creatures.

To top it off, it was during COVID and not one table was cleaned after people left. The staff just removed the drinks from the table and left them as it was. Not one bit of cleaning done for new guests to come.

Still waiting for the refund as we had no food and I didn't touch my drink as I was keeping it for our food. We were told we had to sort it out over email so let's see if I ever get it back! Well I will - happy to do a chargeback through the bank but I hope they can try and rectify this.

Absolutely appauling... honestly a joke! We were so excited to come.

Birmingham Kitty Cafe

I booked a table for my partner and I for 6:15pm, as we were heading to a show later in the evening, and thought this would be a lovely way to begin our date night.

Upon entering Kitty Cafe, I noticed a sign stating that they were unable to accept Monzo bank cards. Thankfully my partner was able to pay for the entrance fees with her card, otherwise our visit would have ended as soon as it had begun!
We were shown to our table and we spent a few minutes deciding what to eat. At about 6:30pm, a waitress came over and took our order - we opted for two meal deals for £11.95 each, consisting of two hot drinks, two portions of potato wedges, a veggie quesadilla and a pizza. The hot drinks were brought to us around 10mins later, and so we decided to enjoy our sweet treats and the cats.
Those poor cats. They were being followed/chased everywhere by small children AND adults alike. Cats were being backed into corners, cameras being pushed into their faces, children grabbing at them. It made me feel really uncomfortable. Considering we had to sign a document stating that we understood the "house rules" regarding the safety and welfare of the cats, these rules were in no way being actioned by the staff. At one point, a cat hid under my partners chair, which had her coat hanging from the back of it, just to shelter from the grabbing hands and camera lenses. At this point, several people started crowding around my partner trying to see the cat, without even considering for a moment whether my partner was comfortable being surrounded by people whilst she was trying to have her hot drink.
At this point, we were checking our watches as our food hadn't arrived. 7pm. 7:05pm. 7:10pm. Bear in mind we had ordered our food at 6:30pm and our booking ended at 7:15pm. Throughout all the time that we were waiting, not one member of staff came over to ask whether we were okay or whether we needed anything. Meanwhile, people who had been greeted and seated after us were having food delivered to them. At 7:12pm, our potato wedges arrived. Of course I said to the waitress that our booking ended in 3mins, to which she told us "not to worry about it". Very kind, as I don't think even I could manage to eat a bowl of potato wedges and an eventual pizza in three minutes! The waitress was slightly apologetic, muttering something about "it's been a long day and the kitchen had a bit of a meltdown". Which I'm assuming means "we forgot". A couple of minutes later, my partner was presented with, and I quote, "some kind of quesadilla". Not the kind of thing you want to hear when you've requested the vegetarian option! At 7:20pm, 50mins after I placed my order and 5mins after our booking had technically ended, I finally got my pizza. As we were in a rush to see our show, I had to try and eat my pizza as quickly as possible, which wasn't the most fun experience. Whilst I was eating, a waitress came over and started to clear things away without asking whether we were finished, even leaning over me at one point to reach a cup. All done in silence. No "excuse me, please". Baffling.
As soon as I finished my pizza, we were more than ready to leave.
We purchased two meal deals for £11.95, totalling £23.90. We were charged almost £26. As we were in (even more of) a rush as our show was starting in 15mins, we didn't have the time or the energy to query this. Therefore, on top of the £6 each entrance fee, we paid almost £38 for literal scaredy cats, screaming children, poor service, sub-par food, and a very, VERY, bad taste in our mouths.

Please also bear in mind that on the menus on the table, the cafe advertises "Show us your five-star TripAdvisor review when you leave, and receive a free gift!". Bribing customers with a free gift to get their positive reviews up speaks for itself.

We won't be returning. We advise anyone contemplating visiting to go elsewhere.

Always such a lovely place to go to

Always such a lovely place to go to, I take my nephew frequently as he loves places like this. It’s always a fun day out, the staff are always polite. The environment is comfy and homely.

I am a big cat fan so to find out this was in Leeds was a huge surprise for me

Kitty Cafe Nottingham

First time visitors and I booked the Kitty Café as a birthday treat for my 10 year old. Booking was really easy on-line and I didn't have to sign up to anything beforehand which was good. We arrived a bit early, were greeted by friendly staff and were seated quickly. There were loads of happy cats, of varying age and type. Some were sleeping but there were lots of active cats. Amazing facilities for the cats and the whole place was really clean, nicely decorated, didn't smell (wonder where all the litters trays are!?!) Some children were a bit over-exuberant in their cat following but the staff managed this well and ensured the cats were happy. All the cats seemed very comfortable and well cared for. Food choice isn't extensive but was nice and came quickly. Atmosphere lovely. Was really warm - top tip; wear layers! We loved it!! The only very slight issue, when I asked the waitress if I could order a cake for my little one's pudding, she said 'if you've got time I'll check'. Maybe I didn't read the small print but we were not advised of a time limit and we'd only been in there for 35-40 minutes at that point. Anyway, we were allowed to have a pudding... Overall it was a really lovely experience and I would recommend it for any cat lovers. Don't expect a cat to sit on your knee the whole visit and you'll have a great time ;)

Kitty cafe Birmingham

I’m really sorry to say that my dining experience was not good at all. I was really looking forward to coming with my family as we’re huge animal lovers, and the cats were gorgeous. However, we were told our table would be ready in 10 mins (we made a reservation for 2.45 and arrived promptly) but we were left waiting around for over half an hour. We kept asking (as did other guests in the same situation) but the waitress’ seemed to be fobbing us off with “Give me two minutes we’re just cleaning your table.” When we finally did get to our table, we were able to make our order pretty quickly, but we were told half the desserts weren’t available (we ordered the main/dessert/drink for 11.95 deal). Our food eventually came out after a long wait, and the pizzas we ordered weren’t cut. Ok we could do it ourselves that’s fine, but I had to wait 10mins and repeatedly ask for my cutlery! We then had a really stroppy waitress come and tell us that the desserts we ordered weren’t available (remember half of them weren’t available so it took effort to find ones) so we spent another 5 mins with the waitress to order different ones. By this time we were aware our time slot was near the end, but surely they won’t kick us out! The waitress looked like we’d spat in her face when we kept asking if the particular dessert was available (mostly told no-with no apologies). We finally ordered, only for 5mins to pass and a different waitress to come over and tell us we had to leave as our time slot was up!! We couldn’t actually believe it!! The funniest thing was another waitress came out with our desserts!! Awkward!! We got 50% discount and at the time I wanted to get out of there quick, but actually, I paid £30 for absolutely appalling service, which I don’t think I should have paid! I paid £16 to walk through the door which I understand is for the welfar of the cats, which I am still happy to pay, but the other £16 I paid-what exactly did I pay for? Terrible service that’s what.
Last thing-the cats are chased around by some customers (mostly children) and nobody did anything! There were rules we had to look at and follow to protect the cats, which included letting the cats come to you and not chase them. This was not the case and it was horrible to see the cats visibly stressed!

Visited Kitty Cafe Birmingham on the…

Visited Kitty Cafe Birmingham on the 27th July 2019. As an owner of 3 cats or should I say “as a slave to 3 cats” and having grown up with 10 cats at any one time I am pleased to report that this project is a total success. From the cat loving staff with there top notch customer service through to the food and value for money I would highly recommend a visit.

It’s highly unusually to see so many cats in this setting and fun to watch their playful behaviours in a group and individually. The cats were clearly cared for and more than content with the environment, with separate quiet spaces / rooms provided. None of the animals looked distressed in anyway in fact they looked so chilled I actually want to come back in my next life as a cat and be rescued by Kitty Cafe. In fact they can kidnap me now 🤓.

All in all a purr-fect hour spent for my wife and I, aka the human cat slaves, looking forward to visiting again very soon.

Thanks all Richard and Clair.

Having spent £40 and booked in we have…

Having spent £40 and booked in we have just been told our booking was invalid. We rang up on multiple occasions to book but never got through and so used their online system. We travelled 20miles into Notts just for this for a birthday treat and was then turned away. First they said that they tried to ring us but we proved to them that they didn't. Then they tried to tell us they needed an email but that had been provided and again they did not use it. We would have not been so unhappy if they had actually attempted to contact us but they lied about it and did not like that we proved they had lied. My daughter has been very upset about this and will not be returning again, which is a shame as we have been many times before and enjoyed it.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

Let me start off by saying I was really up for going to the KittyCafe in Leeds however after visiting it I have some major concerns.

Firstly the cats themselves exhibited behaviours of wanting to get the hell out of the way. 95% of the animals were very high above the cafe, hiding. Which to me means they don't want or like the attention they are receiving. Children who where visiting whilst I was there spent the entire time either chasing the very small kittens around the floor in groups of about five or so, looming over the poor things or poking sleeping cats with sticks to get their attention (the staff didn't seem to care that they were doing this).

There was a very small cat, can't of been much older than about 4 months, that for the entire time I was there was not left alone despite it trying to sleep atop a very high cat tree. It was prodded and woken up for the entire hour of my stay.

The staff were also pretty terrible, they seem to have employed a very young group of students to manage it, who either have servere learning difficulties or the people skills of those raised by wolves you hear about in Russia every now and again. I asked for a piece of cake and the young guy squirmed and looked at me as if I had asked to murder his entire family. He was worried I wouldn't have time to eat my cake and asked his manager over the head set (20 ft away from him) whether, with 45 minutes left on my 'timer', that was possible...

I left the cafe actually feeling sorry for the poor animals that have to put up with that for hours on end and to be honest a little on edge. I would go as far to say it was a glorified petting zoo with animal welfare at the bottom of the priority list.

I was very disappointed and would advise cat/animal admirers to steer well clear of it.
