I reported to Kobo three days after receiving it that the charging light does not work (case #3110926). After they approved the replacement, they did not tell me the whole what happens next part of the process. I called two weeks later to find out what was going on only to learn that another email, which had been filtered away, came in for ME to approve the return, OK, fine, did that. They told me on the phone that a shipping label would be sent after I did that. OK fine. Well, the shipping label did not come. That email most definitely did not get filtered anywhere. I have been checking my email for Rakuten for over a week. So I finally got back in touch with them two days ago to find out what was going on. The person said that the support escalation person would resend me the label and it would take 24-hours (for whatever reason). 48-hours later, the label is still not here. We are now at one-month and still nothing. Now, to add insult-to-injury. The person who I talked to two weeks ago on the phone told me I would be receiving a refurbished unit. Excuse me? I report a problem with a brand-new unit within 72-hours of receiving it, and you think it's ok to send me a refurb? But here we are almost a month later and THEY have conveniently slid into the I've had it for 30-days time frame by me constantly not receiving this shipping label. This is some next-level arrogance coming from this company that the only way I can get any attention is to leave a negative review on the product page itself.

This is a really good device. It's my second purchase of a Sage and my 6th (or 7th?) ereader from Kobo. Slightly bummed the pen isn't included by default for the price but overall great value for the money.
After two whole weeks, it seems fine. Meets the advertised spec. Ask again after I find out how much the battery disappoints.
Like the reader and how many books it can hold. However, I had to buy this one to replace the Sage I bought just a year ago, because it scrambled it’s screen and nothing can be read.
The 8" screen does make a difference when compared to my Libra when reading graphic novels. The text in graphic novels are more legible than on my Libra and I feel I can appreciate the art better. Reading novels and the like is pretty much the usual, no problems there. The flush screen I like a lot, gives the e-reader a more premium feel. The backlighting is uneven but not dealbreaking for me. The two major gripes I gave are the battery life and the buttons. As with other reviewers, I found the buttons to be hit or miss at times. I would think I pressed it and wait 2-3 seconds for something to happen only to press the button harder again to be sure it registered. The mushy feedback also isn't ideal compared to the clicky buttons on my Libra. The battery life is also leaving more to be desired. It's not terrible, but the Sage can only last for a few days while my Libra can last for 2 weeks or more for the same amount of reading. It is definitely worth it for focused reading of graphic novels and regular novels with the perfect sized screen for that purpose alone.
As I wrote before, I'll give 5 star when you attach Polish language and Polish books
summary: I can't recommend this product. the good: + nice looking screen + USB-C + I like the "handle" design the bad: - cannot zoom or enlarge pictures in epub (maybe other formats too) - sometimes the page turn buttons don't work several times in a row - battery life is 4-5 nights of ~1.5 hour reading (light at 20%) - does not have TTS (which was a feature that I thought it had) - the active pen experience is practically useless - if you accidentally turn off the backlight in the dark then you need to use an alternate light to find the UI element for reenabling the backlight.
Solid feeling build and lightweight. This reader has been a joy to use with no problems so far. Love that it's waterproof especially
Excellent device but insufficient battery life compared to other e-readers I have used (small nook, kindle, Kobo mini). It has one other quirk in how it spontaneously rotation when one 'sleeps' it, but that is minor. It is a wonderful size and has great illumination and handiness, but it runs out of battery juice after just a few hours of reading with modest illumination. Despite these minor disappointments, I'd still buy it again, but only if it were on sale as it was for me.
Love it, great reader and awesome for audiobooks too.
Good size e-reader, some issues with the page turn buttons working intermittently but overall I’m happy with my purchase.
It’s wonderful to be able to read e-books without having to buy them from Amazon, but more than that, the ability to hand write and have it understood and recorded, both in books and in notebooks for my own use, is the best.
I still do not have it because it was shipped like a pair of socks. Though I returned it, they have not sent me a replacement.
Pros: 1. text is sharp 2. love the form factor of the device, lightweight and easy to hold. Cons: 1. Battery drains fast 2. Software is limiting for reading PDFs, lacks auto-cropping 3. No integration with ReadWise. For reading PDFs, I installed KOReader, and it's awesome. And KOReader has ReadWise integration. This hardware + KOReader is a perfect combination to me.
Positive experience for reading manga!
Really great e-reader. I love the feel in my hands, the fact that I can flip it over and use the wide edge in either hand, the flexible brightness settings, and the ability to easily purchase books directly on the device. The screen is really responsive when refreshing, and the text is plenty sharp.
The size is good but the pages roll to fast and I have to tap hard to stop and roll back a few pages to the correct page I was reading. This happens quite regularly I am disappointed that this happens.
What a disappointment! The buttons on my kobo Sage consistently fail, interrupting the reading experience. After reaching out to kobo I received a replacement, which is equally plagued with malfunctions. For the price, this should be a premium product. In actuality, the Sage is anything but premium.
Love it. I do wish the weight was greater on the handle side, but it's fine. Also I feel like it's a bit too pricey.
It works but it keeps on turning on Bluetooth and WiFi all on it's own, wastes battery life. This was purchased with the Charging Cover.
