Today I went to LA Fitness in Cordova…
Today I went to LA Fitness in Cordova planning to cancel my membership because I honestly wasn’t going as often as I should and felt like it was becoming a waste of money. After speaking with the (AGM)TD, and Ashanti, they helped me realize the importance of keeping my membership.
My main concern was continuing to pay monthly when the location felt farther than what worked for me. TD took the time to reach out to upper management and were able to get me grandfathered into a different location while keeping my rate exactly the same.
They were extremely nice, friendly, professional, and very helpful. I truly appreciate Ashanti and TD for going the extra mile and working everything out for me.
Horrible Gym
Unprofessional and Threatening Behavior
LA Fitness Review
I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had at a gym at this LA Fitness location (6501 N Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale).
After seeing an ad for their 3-day pass, I registered online and booked a confirmed appointment for 9 AM. I even received a confirmation text. Because my closest location is closed, I drove over 30 minutes to get here.
When I arrived, the associate at the front told me, “There’s no one from sales to activate the pass or show you the club, so we can’t help you.” No apology, no alternative, no solution.
I explained that I had a confirmed appointment and had driven a long distance. He just shrugged, clearly not caring.
When I said I might have to post my experience publicly, another employee — an older gentleman working there — loudly said, “You should!” in a rude, confrontational tone. When I asked for clarification, he responded, “Do whatever you like.”
I calmly asked for his name. He refused, became visibly aggressive, and when I took a photo simply to document who I was speaking to, he escalated into insults and threatening behavior.
Nothing justifies a staff member at a gym behaving like this toward a guest who arrived with a confirmed appointment.
Between the complete disregard for appointments, the lack of accountability, and the hostile attitude of the employees, I left without being helped and genuinely shocked at how unprofessional this location is run.
If this is how potential new members are treated when they walk in the door, I can only imagine what actual members deal with.
THEY DON'T GIVE A SHIT!
THEY DON'T GIVE A SHIT!
I actually would not be surprised if my local LAF (Norwalk, CT) closes soon. My google review as follows:
I will preface this review by saying that the facility itself is nice and large, spacious and with tons of good equipment.
Also the staff is very friendly and tries to be helpful.
However, if you are interested in using the pool and/or whirlpool here, you will probably be very disappointed and aggravated. It's obvious they skimp on maintenance for them, as they are closed/out of operation half the time.
I joined this gym when it first opened about 15 years ago, mostly because I like to swim. If another gym a reasonable distance from my home opened up, I would leave this gym in a second.
Update (1.20.24)...the pool and whirlpool are STILL closed, having been closed for about a month now. Total joke.
Update/2 (11.1.25)...once again the pool has been closed for about 2 weeks. They just don't put any money or effort into maintaining the pool and whirlpool here, as they are often out of order/closed. Bottom line, if you are joining a gym with the intent of swimming as one of your exercises, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere as you will be really aggravated and disappointed with this place.
Update/3 (11.16.25)...pool STILL closed. When you ask about when it will open, all you get is rambling BS...just a pathetic joke at this point.
Update/4 (12.10.25)....pool STILL closed, with continued BS about opening...when I asked recently they told me there is not even a projected/planned re-opening date...the person said 'corporate' had even canceled the repair order...for whatever reason.
Meanwhile, the coached 5-star reviews for the gym continue to appear on Google.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if this gym closes completely soon. Unfortunate, since I have been a member for the 17 years that the club has been open.
100 % dissatisfied with customer service and the difficulty of cancelling a contract
I signed up for a personal trainer with a 6 month contract. At signing, I was told I could review my membership anytime although I am committed for the 6 months. I visited the office early November and was given a date 11/25/25 to return to cancel. On that date I returned, I was told that the facility is closing and that a manager would call me to help. I waited 2 days, no calls. I called the local gym I normally attend, I am told, "we are closing this facility, someone by the name of Joey will call you. After about 5 phone calls to the facility with no answer, I decided to visit their website and contact Management. It was 2:25pm, I got recording saying I am calling outside of office hours and I should leave a message. I then decided to send them an email, I discovered that I had to create an account on their site in order to send an email. WHERE IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE? LA FITNESS ON A SCALE OF 1-10 GETS A 00 FOR MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER. I finally reached out to my trainer, who said she would make contact with management, Joey called an hour later. He had no apologies, and when I outline my difficulty and my opinion to him, he hang up his phone on me. I called him back and he finally cancelled my contract with no refund. LA FITNESS TERRIBLE PLACE TO DO BUSINESS. DO NOT REGISTER YOUR CREDIT CARD WITH THEM.

Low quality and services
I am truly sorry that after years of membership in this complex, I have witnessed a decline in quality and service. During the last session, after exercise, I went to the locker room and saw feces on the floor of the gym. I will definitely follow up with the ministry.
Its not very clean and staff is…
Its not very clean and staff is terrible.
LA Fitness Crocker Park Westlake is Terrible
I've been going to this gym for about 3 years and the aggravation is getting worse!
The ISSUE:
For some reason, they seem to think everyone wants the house music cranked up like a nightclub setting. It's so loud, having conversations with my workout buddy or other members, is nearly impossible without having to get in each others face and talk really loud!
So, I, along with other members, have gone to the front desk numerous times to complain. The desk personnel say, "we aren't allowed to adjust the music. The store manager has no say in this matter, either. The regional manager tells us to leave the volume where it is."
Next move was to speak with the "regional manager." He was pointed out to me by one of the employees so I walked up, introduced myself and said, "Why is the house music played at such a high level?" He replied, "well, we like it loud." (REALLY? WHO'S WE???)
I came back with, "can you please turn it down a bit? It's too loud. It's hard to have a conversation with friends and quite frankly, the music is terrible. Look around, every person in here is wearing ear buds or headphones listening to their own music; they're not listening to the PA system." I continued, "I don't like having to wear buds or headphones and hate having to lug my phone around while working out, but I'm forced to wear them to try and drown out the music in here. And I'd like to add, I have to crank up my "noise-canceling" ear buds so loud, it's painful and the house music still bleeds thru. It's like a "battle of the bands" in my ears.
He replied, "well, maybe we'll take a look at it."
End of conversation.
Since talking with him, he surely "took a look at it." It's louder now than it was before.
I'm seriously thinking about finding another gym. Yes, it's THAT bad.
p.s. There are other issues, too but I'll leave those for another time. Hopefully LA Fitness corporate will do something about this matter. And quickly.
It's LA Fitness on Rosemead Blvd, Rosemead, CA
There are swimming lessons for children in one lane. After swimming, mothers bring their children into the women's locker room and the women's shower. I can't tolerate 3-4 year old boys either, but I definitely don't tolerate 8-10 year old pre-teens. Not even if they're autistic. If it's a boy, autistic or not, he shouldn't be staring at naked women. Last time, a little boy about 3 years old asked his mother why that old woman's butt was so wrinkled (lady is in her 80's). Don't tell me this is normal! In the spring, a woman wanted to come into the women's locker room with her son, who was about 15 years old (taller than me), and the boy, grinning and making a video with his phone, walked through the door. His mother told they just "accidentally" wanted to come here. Yes, "by chance" the 15 year old boy wanted to make a video. But still since then, the boys have been coming in every day, several times, always different boys, and they use the women's shower and locker room. If you don't believe it, come and be in the woman locker room on every weekdays after 4pm, and on Saturdays all day.
No hot water for 2 weeks
No hot water for 2 weeks. How can you workout without having a shower available afterwards? Definitely not a priority for the staff. Equipment breaks every couple weeks and takes weeks to repair. The staff doesn't seem to give a damn.
Very terrible
Very terrible. I was looking at signing up my girlfriend and I got quoted three different quotes right away all very different. Then when I went back for the quote that was best, the general manager told me that the sales person was new and didn’t know what he was talking about. So first and foremost, they don’t train their people. So then I called the corporate office and they gave me a rate for the mistake and then when I called back to take it, they told me that was only good for California region. They are truly idiots. No one there knows what they’re doing. And I am in sales too, and the guy that quoted me in California knew he misquoted me and that I was going to call him on my lunch break and just waited all day for me to waste my time on my lunch break to call him just to tell me that he had also been mistaken. No semblance or slightest iota of common sense courtesy or customer service.

I used the pools for swimming laps in the Long Beach CA area. But it is very hard to swim laps. People go from the Sauna to the jacuzzi to the pool…..more like a hotel pool….never showering in between and make it hard to find lanes to swim laps. They get very upset when you try to swim laps too. Too convenient that the pool, sauna and jacuzzi are all in the same place.
Staff
The staff could benefit from improving their customer service approach, as they often come across as unfriendly.
Best overall experience in years

If you’re looking for a gym in Arlington that truly listens to your goals, check out the LA Fitness at 2955 Glebe Road. The manager Pat Concordia and my personal trainer Chris took the time to understand exactly what I needed.
Chris is the best trainer I could ask for—motivating, knowledgeable, and completely focused on tailoring workouts to my specific needs.
This is my first week, and I already feel confident that I’m in the right place to build strength, endurance, and achieve my fitness goals.
The facility is clean, well-equipped, and has everything I need for both personal training and independent workouts. I highly recommend this location if you’re looking for a gym community that’s supportive and results-driven.

I called up the Valencia club and was…
I called up the Valencia club and was told that if I paid in full for the year that it would be $100 more than if I just made the payments monthly. This is not how you gain members. I will NEVER join one of these over crowded gyms based on the lies I am being told. Absolute disgrace
Dishonest business practices
They told me they would refund the annual fee because I only needed a short term membership and then later refused to do so. Their personal trainer was more than 30 minutes late to my free training session. They said they would reach out to reschedule and then never did. When I had to cancel because I was moving, they refused to let me because their manager was out of town for two weeks.
This was at the Roosevelt location in Seattle.
I’m writing this to warn everyone about LA Fitness and Deceptive Manager Dustin Richardson
I’m writing this to warn everyone about LA Fitness’s deceptive billing practices and complete lack of accountability.
In 2022, I signed up for a new membership using the same name and email I had used years earlier. What I didn’t know was that LA Fitness had kept my old, frozen account “active” and continued charging me $10/month for over THREE YEARS without any notice. That’s over $360 in charges for a membership I never used — and didn’t even know I still had.
Their system didn’t notify me. No emails. No alerts. Nothing. I discovered this myself while reviewing my billing history — and when I reached out to resolve it, the response was worse than the billing error itself.
I contacted their manager, Dustin Richardson, multiple times by email, fully explaining the situation and asking for a refund and a written record of all charges under my name. Instead of helping, he avoided the issue entirely, gave me vague non-answers, and then went completely silent. It’s now obvious that Dustin is either unwilling or completely unfit to deal with legitimate customer issues.
I gave them every opportunity to respond professionally. I waited. I followed up. I was ignored.
I’ve now filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the California Department of Consumer Affairs, and the Federal Trade Commission. I’m also working with my bank to dispute every one of these charges.
If you're a current or former LA Fitness member, I strongly suggest you:
Check your billing history for duplicate or unauthorized charges
Never trust that your account is properly canceled or frozen
Understand that management (specifically people like Dustin Richardson, in Santa Clarita) will not take accountability or help you
This company continues to profit off people who don’t even know they’re being charged — and they ignore you when you catch them. I’m sharing this so others don’t get burned like I did.
Manager name Jose
Manager name: Jose. He is in overland culver city CA location.
I’ve been a member of LA Fitness for years, but the management at the Culver City (Overland) location is a serious issue. I was working out with a family member when the manager approached us very rudely, without any warning, and even touched my friend while telling him, “You can’t train her here.” It was aggressive, public, and completely unprofessional.
We were not disturbing anyone, and I was working out under my own membership. This level of disrespect and public humiliation is unacceptable. Management should be trained to speak with members respectfully. I won’t recommend this location until this behavior is addressed.
DO NOT SIGN UP AT LA FITNESS
DO NOT SIGN UP AT LA FITNESS, my wife and I were lied too, and mislead about signing up for a fitness trainer. Do not trust Joey R. at LA fitness in Chino Hills.
